So, prerelease weekend winners already determined? People who get matching sets in their pre-re pool dominate people who don't? And the result of such swingy synergy in commons likely to bring out the cheaters who will sneak matching cards into their pool and pretend they picked out?
Man... these Meld cards are going to SUCK in EDH. That is way too fragile to ever pull off. Damn... I just hope the Brunsela fusion won't be a meld card.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

2016: Best Town Performance (Group) - Best Town Player - Best Overall Player
That's pretty fun. Sadly I don't play limited, so if there are a ton of meld cards, well. Also I doubt there will be an abundance of powerful meld "pieces," so 3 card slots per good/bomby creature doesn't sound very productive. But I'm super excited to see what they've come up with.
They just changed the rules for transformed cards to have a CMC when transformed, I wonder how they will handle this? Assuming this is flipping 2 cards and putting them together, does it get a CMC equal to the front side of both cards combine? Or does it have both separately like a fuse card? Looking forward to the answer.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
Query: if one casts Coax from the Blind Eternities to get the other component for a meld combo from the sideboard, can one choose a card based on its Eldrazi face-down side? Because this makes for an interesting connection with the Sideboard discussion and why we are getting such an unusual tutor.
Nope. Barring a rules change, the front side of a given card is the only side that exists when a card is not on the battlefield and transformed. The only exception is that, if the color of the back is different from the front, all of the colors count toward color identity when used to determine EDH deckbuilding. Otherwise, the rules treat the back of DFCs as if they don't exist.
Both of these cards are limited playable, one card even giving card advantage/setting up the meld, nullifying any potential card disadvantage if removed. I like it.
Ugh, I don't like this. Seems like the set will be littered with a bunch of cards that really do nothing without their counterpart. Cards that could have otherwise been interesting stand-alone cards.
I'm reminded of how AVR was the set that gave us Soulbond. Seems rather ffitting that a mechanic like this would be introduced with an Innistrad return.
QFT. This is WORSE than lazy design like rally or support, this is straight-up pants-on-head STUPID, and I'm shocked at how many people think this is remotely a good thing. It destroys limited, it completely disregards NWO, and that's saying NOTHING about the rules confusion.
If this turns out to be confirmed, I'm going to have to think long and hard as to whether or not this game is worth staying with, because this is by far the most parasitic, not to mention cancerous mechanic I have ever seen someone produce, real or fake.

I said something similar re: DFCs the first time we went to Innistrad. even took 4 months off. but I got over it.
it's not the end of the game. it's not the end of limited. if you can't handle it, take a break and come back fresh for Kaladesh. (you even get a reprieve with Conspiracy if you want it).
The user who first posted the picture on reddit (leakyfaucets123) also made some other posts. No picture though, so take them with a grain of salt!
Eldritch Evolution 1GG Sorcery
As an additional cost, sacrifice a creature you control. Search your library for a creature card with CMC equal to or less than the CMC of the sacrificed creature plus 2, and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library. Exile Eldritch Evolution.
"Emerge is a new keyword. You can sac a creature to help pay for the cost of an emerge guy. Colors don't count though."

This seems too parasitic. Now if one card flipped, and melded with less specific cards (say certain creature types and or colors), it might be better. For now... I hope this is fake.
Too bad somethings "die to removal" ...

What? It makes perfect sense since Emrakul is merging every living creature into each other. It´s a very fun mechanic
Creating a potentially complex and strange mechanic may indeed be a gimmick. However it is exactly the opposite of lazy design.

And anyway, Ulrich's flip is the same as the Shadows flip cards, (sun and waning moon), whereas the Hanweir card is an Eldrazi.
