These are the kids of things I am excited about. As a competitive player who often finds himself buying budget cards to make really fun and interesting decks and cubes to play with my friends, I am really happy to see some really good commons/uncommons and budget rares come out of this set. Nimble Mongoose is a sweet card that I can't wait to get ahold of!
Does this mean Threshold is one of the "Limited Mechanics" for the set (considering they put ability commons and uncommons with Limited in mind)? I could see that happening, they're not very pleased with the mechanic to have it return to Standard, but a Eternal Masters, it looks to be a solid choice.
Hmm, does Pauper being an Eternal format mean that Nimble Mongoose being bumped down to common makes it legal for play in Pauper? If so, I'm expecting Stompy and Delver to get that much better in the format. However, not sure how easy Threshold would be to get in Pauper to make the 'Goose a reasonable creature threat.
Sweet! Nice to see this at common as well. Canadian Threshold players rejoice!

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.

Pauper's restriction is literally "if it's ever been printed at common", so yes, a previously rare/uncommon that gets reprinted at common becomes pauper legal.

So, now that threshold is a word, do you think we'll see more threshold cards for limited?
Crossing my fingers for Cephalid Coliseum Cycle, by far, my favorite land cycle.
Ooh boy, this is gonna have an impact in pauper for sure. I'm excited that they are adding cards to pauper, but as a teachings player, I know this is gonna be one of those cards that's gonna make me need edicts haha.
Awesome, I love this little guy, great to see it wasn't bumped up to uncommon.
You mean moved DOWN to common as it was only an uncommon before. So is this going to warp pauper? Don't follow pauper much but I assume from the bans that blue has been king for sometime.

I was actually about to call them out for this, but you beat me to it. Was one of my favorite cards in the ole UG madness/threshold deck in the invasion/odyssey standard. A majority of the deck had been downgraded to common recently with arrogant wurm and circular logic being printed at common and now the mongoose means the only key pieces missing are wonder and roar of the wurm.
Really glad to have this guy for my pauper cube, probably not deserving of a spot unless you run a GY theme, but I just like the critter so much I am definitely going to fit him in.
As far as him warping pauper, I really don't see it as an issue. He doesn't slot into any existing tier 1 pauper deck and considering threshold is fairly tough to turn on and there are not many playable pauper threshold cards I see him as a solid addition to the pool. A see him in perhaps a Sultai tortured existence deck but not sure he is any better than what you can already be doing with existence.
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

Glad that this stays at common, and a great card. And he's a cute little killer!
