cobalt180 asked: How come Commander releases can't take place on a new 'commander' plane like Conspiracy did with Fiora? Especially with the four-color commanders coming up where there might be an odd one-off world of four colors.
A:We’ve been using Commander as a way to reference characters from the Magic story that haven’t yet gotten a card.
So it defiantly looks like this is the new direction for the commander legendaries.
I was very pleased to see this as well. I wonder which characters we could expect to see this year, though? I don't expect many, if any, mono-colored legends this year.
Hard to tell, no recent legendary characters people wanted seemed to fit four colors and I'm not sure on old lore characters, except Urza who most people who are more knowable on pre-mending agree he is not-green.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
When 4 color was announced I joked to a friend that they could do Meld, he was not pleased at the idea.
Anyway, these are my predictons. I see someone else has finally caught on to Eldrazi 4color being a thing. It is a shame that there is no way to play them with a Eldrazi commander in a colored deck now that we have color-ed eldrazi.
This lack of spoiler information is killing me though. I remember when we got spoiled Teferi for the Commander 2013 decks over the summer! And that was an official spoiler! They seriously need to dish out spoilers more often or at least sooner. I'm not asking for card info dumps, just a card here and there to keep interest up!
I'm not sure I buy the 4 color eldrazi commander. "Remember, they came as three" was the puzzle quote if I recall, so unless Wizards is ready to admit Ugin can't count I am not sure that I can see that happening...unless we would be getting another version of Emrakul I guess.

Absolutely agree! They spoiled him at ComicCon, and I don't feel like it took the wind out of the sails of any of the products between ComicCon and Commander 14. In fact, I think it would be cool if they spoil a card for each set when they are announced. Imagine seeing Queen Marchesa for C2? All the thrill about a Monarch mechanic would have been fun.
It only has to be a 4 color devoid Legendary Eldrazi. Currently the only non-Titan that is a Legendary is Brisela. What's to say one of the spawns didn't mutate?
It could be an Emerge thing. Which would be a lot of fun for a Commander General. CMC of 6 with like an Emerge - 10UBRG

Of all the series the one I like least is 2013, because it was not correctly balanced. But as creativity goes, I didn't like too much last years decks. For me it was a huge dissapointment to not see any old story character. Iwas expecting a new Jhoira, Feather, the boros archangel, osmething cool, but we got generic legends with no connection to any story plot. Except for three of them.

Am I the only one thinking that the UBRG could be Eldrazi centered?
We saw eldrazi predominantly in those colors (save for the Eldrazi Displacer).
So... What about a colorless eldrazi commander that has a UBRG ability, like: UBRG, sacrifice a creature: search your graveyard or library for an eldrazi creature with cmc X where x is the sacrificed creature (power/thoughness/cmc) and put it into play, if you searched your library this way shuffle it.
It could even be a legendary enchantmnet with the line "this card can be your general".
A deck like that would allow for "sacrifice matters" and "ramp" at the same time with may be some UC control.
If UBRG is ramp/Eldrazi I would get that one in a heartbeat.
Ramp/fattys is my catergory
Oh and can give some points for that actually. Possible
In the fat pack of eldritch moon the story of it said it as "known Eldrazi Titans dead and imprisoned." Maybe this commander could be a unknown Titan.
Too many posts to read so forgive me if its been mentioned. How likely is it that the commanders have a one or two color casting cost with a four color identity like this (except actually good):
Saggus Ghul (Mythic) 2WB
Legendary Creature - Vampire Beast
3/5
Lifelink R: Target creature gets +1/+0 and gains haste and trample until end of turn. G: Target creature gets +0/+1 and gains vigilance and hexproof until end of turn.
So, crazy theory time, one of the 3 WBRG commanders will be a Samurai of some sort.
We aren't returning to Kamigawa, and there are (admittedly few) Samurais in Black, Red, and Green however no Legendary that can cover all 4 colors to do the full tribe.
I'm not sure I buy the 4 color eldrazi commander. "Remember, they came as three" was the puzzle quote if I recall, so unless Wizards is ready to admit Ugin can't count I am not sure that I can see that happening...unless we would be getting another version of Emrakul I guess.
"Remember, they came as three" can be a more prophetic statement than a warning though. Ugin was always very apprehensive about slaying the Eldrazi. He, Nahiri, and Sorin were far more powerful than the gatewatch are and they very deliberately didn't try to eradicate the Eldrazi. I sorta expect a paradigm where there must always be three Eldrazi titans, and if one were to be destroyed the eternities birth a new one to compensate. With Ulamog and Kozilek ostensibly slain, it creates a vacuum for new titans to be born.
Then again, if they are going to go with that idea, I doubt they'd bring it to the forefront in a commander product. (Though I suppose that's how they unveiled Nahiri as a character)

Good thinking man
Ugin's said it was idiotic to kill them this could be the punishment a new Eldrazi Titan becoming born. (The UBRG commander supposedly.)
So does no one thinks my idea of combining shard with an associated wedge to give the color identity will work?
Esper/Jeskai > WUBR (non creature permanent perhaps)
Naya/Temur > WURG (big creature matter)
Bant/Abzan > WUBG (formation matters. Be it exalted, battlecry or support)
Sultai/Grixis > UBRG (graveyard matters (Delve/Unearth) and both are the evil/necronamtic ones in lore)
Mardu/Jund > WBRG (aggro deck? Both have the Sarkhan connection. Both have a dragon obsession or more than most. Both have a temporary release base see Dash/Devour. Or based on aggression once again see devour/raid)

This is a really good/cool idea. However, two more legendary and potentially titanic Eldrazi have already been seen: Brisela, Voice of Nightmares and Hanweir, the Writhing Township. I think these are going to be the remaining two titans so a potential fourth seems unlikely to me. Granted they can't be cast from the command zone as is, but that doesn't mean we couldn't see castable versions of them in the future.
UBRG - Diet Scion of the Ur-Dragon(please). WUBR - Punisher WBRG - Token shenanigans WUBG - Graveyard shenanigans WURG - Making you do lots of math to see how much damage your creatures will do in combat.

They aren't titans though, they were both a part of Emrakul's brood. (Not sure about the current state of Hanweir)
They were both legendary for very specific reasons. Brisela was legendary because she was created by melding to prominent characters in the story, and Hanweir is legendary because there's only one town of Hanweir and it can't get up and walk away twice.

UBRG - Ramp/Fatties according to EDHREC people are mostly focused on Eldrazi cards. So the theory of being ramp/fatty is looking more than good.
WUBR - Artifacts hmmm can you explain? I don't see it
WBRG - Tokens/Sacrifice no question it's going to be token focused the WBRG card does make tokens.
WUBG - Enchantments/Control control is pretty good guess but I think +1/+1 is the other one not enchantments
WURG - Voltron/Aura/Equipments? Tough one I understand. the sorcery/instant focus deck is the better guess and maybe a touch of enchantments.
I really hope that WUBR Commander is Urza
I put colors in to present my opinions.
For WUBR, I believe the general line of thinking is Esper plus R (which has a history of artifact interactions).
Ok that make sense esper does have lots of artifacts
The rest are really good guess's
Just going to talk about why ramp is likely I know you diden'5 ask
For UBRG very simple W has the least amount of ramp cards and smallest amount of fatties.
And the Eldrazi part of the commander deck. none are white (excluding eldrazi Displacer and some of the mutanted cards from EMN.) and also eldrazis are used the most in ramp decks.
