I haven't read the article, but the artwork does seem to show Odric looking at the symbol of his sword and looking pensive and "doubtful." Currently, the only known cathar apostate is in flavor text, so I would agree that Wizards could show more pictures or cards like this to indicate that the cathars have split into opposite factions.
Also, say if a creature X is dashed, and then you play odric, does odric get haste as well since creature X has haste?
Yes, but only for that turn. Unless you have some other creature with haste, none of your creatures will regain haste at the beginning of combat on your opponent's next turn. Odric, Lunarch Marshal automatically grants all the abilities at the beginning of each combat, which can be pretty powerful. Once we have flying/reach (lots of options here), first strike/double strike (Dromoka Captain or Kor Bladewhirl with rally), and deathtouch (Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim) all we need is to fill up the battlefield with creatures and hope for no board sweeps. I suppose vigilance would be handy, as well. Affa Protector? At least it is also an ally.
hrm...in blue/white Dragonlord Ojutai just found a new friend. The dragon is already hexproof when untapped so at the beginning of combat it gains hexproof until the end of the current turn via the marshal even if it taps to attack. Sure, it may die to instant-speed removal during your opponent's next turn but you still got in for 5 and took advantage of the free Anticipate.
Well you only need haste for one turn. If u need haste for another creature, just dash the creature again. Now do you have announce the trigger like all my 1/1 tokens got deathtouch bc I have an ayli, eternal pilgrim out with odric or do I tell you all your blockers are dead after you declare blockers and combat resolves?
You do not have to "declare" the ability because Odric, Lunarch Marshal's effect(s) happen whether you declare them or not. If you, the player, forget about them....well, I'm afraid that I can't offer any advice about that other than "don't forget". The other player should know that his creatures died to your first strike deathtouchers; if they don't truthfully send their creatures to the graveyard (even if you forgot to mention their abilities) then you are playing against someone who doesn't mind taking advantage of you.
Yes, dash the creature every turn because this is why those of us who use dash creatures use them. Dash was an underrated and underplayed ability, in my opinion. I really wanted to dash Mardu Scout then surge Reckless Bushwhacker but I never got the chance to do it.
Prowess being a Triggered Keyword, rather than a Static Keyword probably makes it liable to not show up in cards like Odric.
It also adds a lot more memory issues, which cards like this already have problems with.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I'm not sure if decks do ability focused decks but odric would work immensely for it gives all creatures all abilitys on the battlefield that's legit for the card (only during fighting phase anyway.)
And too slaughter great card
Only con is for the delirium ability it has to be "1 creature 1 planes Walker"
This would be ben better if it could cause the opponent to sac 2 creatures or 2 planeswalkers as a option with the delirium ability (because planeswalkers do not appear often on the field.)
"That she is - she's called Grete. Interesting fact: she's also Odric's lieutenant Smile I think Odric will turn out to be on the right side of this tale."
I think Odric will be the most flushed out character in this set. I would love to see him join Avacyn’s Inquisition and believe in it so wholeheartedly. However after Avacyn slaughters an entire town he shows doubt ( look at his face, its tired and its strained). Because he believes in protecting the innocent and rooting put evil. That his conviction is tested to the brink, where he looks at his sword and thinks: “"Has it really come to killing angels with holy swords? If it means I have to try to kill the evil that I once believed in all my life now I must end it". I want to see where this leads, that in the end he wants to kill Avacyn only to find Sorin killing her. He would be shocked at witnessing this, and may go on a crusade to kill Sorin believing he is the one responsible of corrupting her. But also notice that the power in his blade is not 'corrupted'. Which is odd.
"In his quest to protect the innocent, fueled by a secret and furious desire for vengeance and the conviction that his is the right side of the fight."-Meghan Wolff
For some reason my brain keeps expecting Odric's card to read "Odric, Lunarch Material", as if Odric is being groomed by the church to replace Mikaeus.
Finally someone did notice that too. This seems to set up the huge players in Innistrad right now. Odric showing doubt on the side he is on, having his resolve tested. While Sigarda is planning to rebel against Avacyn. I really hope he does not turn evil, as I said before it seems that there is no side to root for.
