You know I started college when the first Innistrad Set came out.............. So in the time it took me to get two degrees this guy managed to turn himself into a giant monster bug.
I am not sure how to feel about this to be honest.
Can I quote this or something? For some reason it cracks me up.
Part of the reason the set will be filled with so many nods to Innistrad, is likely because they stated last time that they barely had enough design space to fill a three set block. I'd say this is an indicator of that being true. Though the flavor is a very nice sight, in my opinion, but I do want to see more uniquely designed cards.
Pretty sure they just weren't sure how DFC cards would be received. That's why they only did two sets. Rosewater has said there is plenty of design space. It's the printing logistics that limit how often they are used.

Kinda hate how both this and I section aberration claim to have the last page in the experiment, kinda ruins it for me.
Actually, the flavor text of Insectile Aberration cites the final entry, while Perfected Form mentions the final blank pages that should be what comes after the last entry - so no conflict at all.
Obviously it goes Delver-Aberrant Researcher-Insectile Aberration-Perfected Form
More like Delver > Insectile Aberration > Aberrant Researcher > Perfected Form
I thought it was like the big abdomen on Insectile Aberration and all the stringish stuff was like some kind of coccoon? And then it opened and Aberrant Researcher came out? In retrospect looking at the art I guess he gets way more human going from one to the other, and the flavour text on Researcher doesn't say "final entry" so it messes with the chronology..
Flavor homerun for sure and a good limited card. Probably much better than Delver was in limited since the worst case of a Snapping Drake is better than the worst case of a Merfolk of the Pearl Trident.

The flavor text does say "Metamorphosis is a process." We've been away from Innistrad long enough that he could've gone through a few more phases to reach where he was before Perfected Form.
I really REALLY wish they had named the un-transformed card 'Insectile Aberration' though. It would be so much more flavorful.
I'm sure it causes some rules paradox that breaks the game (can't quite think of it though, actually--can anyone help here?) but that would be very fun.
As for the card itself, i can't possibly top what TerrorKing said above so I'll just leave it at that.
There are only three forms; Insectile Aberration and Aberrant Researcher are the same step. They have different names because they are different cards but both are 3/2 blue fliers.

go ahead.

W(W/U)U Ephara - Flash & Taxes W(W/U)U || B(B/G)G Meren - Circle of Life B(B/G)G
RGW Marath - Ever shifting Wilds RGW || (U/R)C(W/B) Breya - Artificial Dominion (U/R)C(W/B)
UBR Becket Brass - take what you can, give nothing back UBR

I think the use of Aberrant is what they're using to signify the timeline.
So Delver of Secrets -> Insectile Aberration -> Aberrant Researcher -> Perfected Form
