MM15 was basically garbage as far limited goes: it was basically a standard set but nothing cool since all the cards were reprints.
MM15 was actual garbage in the way that the cardboard packs damaged all of the cards. Seriously, you'd be lucky if your $150 Goyf didn't have scuffing on it right out of the pack.
I didn't get a lot of MM5 myself but I know plenty of people who did and never ran into anyone opening damaged cards.
The packaging was nice thought but not quite good enough. The amount of waste involved in opening packs for a draft is depressing when you think about it.
Yeah, Sol Ring DOES need another reprint where a foil can be obtainable, also, an updated version with the diamonds too. I personally could care less if it had the old art or new art, but the old art would be badass.
@POlarbeer101 isn't Mox Diamond on the "no more reprints in foil" list that they closed up lately? I'd love to see it reprinted though. And yes, I would love such a Winter Orb...

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
They clearly do not need sol ring to make it a different experience.
I think the format will probably shy away from NWO and that will be enough.
Things like lava burst at common are more likely and wuld define the format just as much. If most cards are reprints from the pre-Modern era that is very possibly the level of common spells we are getting, with probably lower impact creatures, and presumably also lower as-fan on creatures as well.
There will very likely be a storm archetype which also defines the format a lot. And this time it should be blue-black with dark ritualor cabal ritual at common and lotus petal and/or high tide at uncommon.
If we have a second popular creatureless archetype like burn, opalescence, march of the machines or mill then that might be the first draft environment in years where efficient creature removals are not taken highly. That would be some kind of experience.
Hopefully High tide is printed as a common for Pauper Purposes. Getting that card into mtgo pauper would be really fun.
I'm mostly ok with this list save a few cards:
Mox Diamond is on the reserved list
Liliana of the Veil, Blood Moon and Snapcaster will be probabily be saved for the next Modern Master set
Skullclamp and Sol Ring are reprinted in nearly every commander prduct and are widely available, the only reason to have them in EMA is to have a new foil version
Having both Cabal and Dark ritual can be a little too much (considering limited gameplay)
Ice storm is unlikely as land destruction is no longer a green part of the pie

I would be very miffed if a mythic rare slot had a Sol Ring in. Sorry foil lovers, I don't care about your addiction to shiny if it means my mythic rare non shiny version is going to be 2$.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Ice storm is unlikely as land destruction is no longer a green part of the pie
It really is still part of green's part of the pie, Reclaiming Vines was just in BFZ and before that we had a couple cards in Theros block that could destroy lands, in mono green.

Uhm, I must have overlooked them, I came back recently after a long hiatus so I still forget some more recent cards. well, if LD is still secondary in green (red still being primary i hope) I can see Ice Storm more probable in EMA

I certainly hope they don't limit this set to what is in the current color pie along with any other of their current rules. Such things would limit greatly what they would put in it and make the set rather useless.
Here's hoping that we get some decent reprints for pauper. The last few years have seen many commons becoming rather expensive. Some of the older ones include:
An eternal masters set limited by current color pie limitations is not something people want. If this set doesn't have dark ritual for example I will consider it a failure on principle and black certainly doesn't have mana accel by current color pie rules.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

Sol Ring would need to be mythic for limited, as a single Sol Ring would get anyone far ahead in limited games. A regular version may be worth only a few bucks, but a foil one would probably be a good $20-$30 plus. Not every mythic, foil or not is going to be pricey. That would just be how Wizards of the Coast would do it too if it was added, although the secondary market is a whole other animal.
Sorry you feel that way however, but Wizards has done that before with other cards. Similar to Force of Will, even though it commands a large price tag.
Question is, what's on the Reserved List that people would want, besides the Power Nine (which I don't think ANYONE is expecting to see back, Reserved List or no...Well, maybe Timetwister)? No, that's not rhetorical; I'm just not coming up with much offhand. (Except Scarwood Bandits, but I'm probably in a marked minority there.)
Are you serious? Gee, I don't know... Dual lands perhaps!!!!!
I'm sorry you've had a relatively rough go of things educationally and professionally, but you're a perfect example of somebody who can only afford the Honda, but wants the BMW. BMW doesn't make cars for you, nor do they care about making cars you can afford. WotC doesn't make cards for you, nor do they care about making cards you can afford... because you aren't their target market. Being emotionally invested into the storyline doesn't give you a right to buy the cards, you can follow the story just fine without them, so I don't want to hear that. Now, it's not your fault per se that you cannot afford to play MTG, and you are a victim of circumstance, but life isn't fair. It's tough, and it sucks for you, but you aren't nor will you likely ever be MTG's target market.
First off, your analogy that Legacy is a BMW is off. Keep in mind, the biggest problem with Magic right now is the reserved list. That's what's causing all of the pricing problems, and it's really easy to fix. I've been playing Magic off and on since 97' and remember when Legacy and Vintage were just being created as formats. Dual lands and many of the staples you are referring to were affordable then, and even later on, from 2000-2010. You could obtain a full play-set of dual lands for about 1K. Most duals were about $25 each, and some above that, but in general it was affordable. So Legacy was essentially the Honda you are talking about now. That's the problem. Imagine if a car was always affordable to you for years and then suddenly is posing as a luxury car despite not a single change happening to the car. That's what has happened to Legacy. Vintage is a different beast, because THAT is the format that is more like the BMW, not Legacy. Legacy was created as a cheaper format for those who couldn't or didn't want to buy power 9. Also, please stop with the elitist nonsense. Wizards' target audience are people who are interested in TCG's and strategy, as well as those who like to collect. It isn't targeting people who make good money. The game would never survive if that was the case.

Disintegrate and Desert at common wouldn't hurt.
I would like to see Gaea's Touch, Festival and Flood.
Goblin War Drums seems like a good choice, given its recent template update.
False Orders is a really cool effect I'd like to see, but I don't know if modern Wizards want to do it on a common.
Painful Memories is a tool I think black pauper should really have online.
Priest of Yawgmoth, maybe? But that seems a bit breakable.

Is it announced anywhere how many cards are getting new art?
A bunch should be, since Wizards doesn't own a lot of the old art.
