...why does it have that restriction...

I sort of like this card because it has haste... I'm not sure if I could use it in a deck outside of EDH...

Does everything need to have restriction these days?

I like it for standard, but I agree that the restriction is a bit rubbish...

I think Haste is what pushes it to Rare.

Lol, the rarities in this set is just a constant stream of facepalms. This could easily have been printed at uncommon, if not common.

Edit: I see it taps for any color, not just G. That is nice, I guess.

He's an ally that taps for any colour with haste

I think the five colour deck is taking shape

Well, at least he can be used for any creature (I hope) and not just ally.

EDIT - I believe that the lotus cobra on his shoulder is is responsible for his coolness. The restriction is all him.

Meh, it's actually the rare that upsets me least so far. 5 colors and haste, sure uncommon would be fine, maybe even common, but that is not going to happen in Zen 2.crap. if there are a few good ones drop creatures, this good swing the game a bit, and as usual, if there are fairly good 3-4 drops, I could see it matching Caryatid popularity.

And again, why is this a rare? Because it has haste and actually can attack, compared to Somberwald Sage?

"wat" is what comes to mind when I see this card.

Important part though is that he's an ally with haste that gives any color. There's applications for this. Their common / uncommon design needs to be on point this set.

Good card any card that can add any color should be rare this makes 5 color ally decks mana base really good

Name is a good match to the ability.
But I dont feel it is a rare, but maybe this is for the haste.

Definitely an ally enabler, as it is an ally, can help cast allies, and can even trigger ally attack triggers (if there are any) is

I was really hoping that wizards, designing around their self imposed limitation of "no llanowar elves allowed", would find a clever mechanical way to create a mana dork thats still relevant and powerful. They didn't. This is junk, its abilities work poorly together. If you had a 1-drop, you'd play it turn 1. If you play this turn 2 with no 1-drops left in hand, its haste does nothing, it probably can't even attack, but even if it did it just slipped through 1 damage, otherwise its just a mana dork for twice the normal cost, it won't ramp you into 3 mana on turn 2. For it to have any purpose at all, the decks its in would have to be awfully bottom weighted, flooded with 1 drops. Except we have to preclude instant/sorceries which might have been relevant, like some kind of dig spell, because it has that totally pointless and unnecessary creature restriction. To top it all off, this mana dork is for some reason a rare, much like how lotus cobra was a mythic, but at least its not a big spit in the face since its not even pretending to be good. The worst part, is that with no mana dorks, this could even see serious play just by virtue of being the only ramp available. I rate this card soiled underwear, completely failing to compensate for wizards prohibition.

As said above, even a harabaz druid reprint would have been welcome. But thats probably as likely as a power 9 sneaking through

I...I really don't want to spend money on this set. Apparently the Eldrazi are sucking all the power out of the cards themselves.
