This. (That said, I guess I could see Basandra being the "reprint commander" option in a red/white deck that took this route. If the deck had some threaten effects, though, Brion Stoutarm would be a better choice.)
The thing with Basandra is that her abilities weren't strong, but had the first ability just been "Opponents can't cast spells during combat" it would have been twice as good. Had the second ability forced an attack OR a block that would have made her twice as good. And then still, she'd be just okay as a general. When you have Gisela and Aurelia it's hard to see a good replacement yet.
Or if she'd forced "target creature can't attack or block". The protection that the Battleshaper offers is also nice if you don't want to get stomped by that colossus over there.

Exactly. When you make a thing that gives signals what that thing is supposed to do, it's disappointing when it doesn't. It's like buying a nice bottle of beer but there's no alcohol - sure, you ~can~ enjoy it, but for most people it's going to feel like it's missing something crucial. Basandra is Coors Cutter.
We already got the medallions and diamonds last year and in my opinion, all cards not on the resserved list that have gotten new art in either DotP or MTGO should be printed.
Razorfin Hunter, Quirion Ranger, Diabolic Edict, Divine Transformation, Mind Twist, Boros Signet, Orzhov Signet, Exile, etc.
Lots of cool cards that aren't too powerful or expensive for precons, but aren't the theros common crap they'd put instead either.
As some have said, the best "new" way to take white/red (as in, away from just aggro or the obvious equipment/artifact love) would be to make it all about controlling the flow of battle. A Boros Battleshaper-esque ability on a legend would be FANTASTIC and perfectly in flavor. Imagine reprints of Invasion Plans or Master Warcraft too. These are fantastic commander effects that no other color or color combo really gets.
Hey now, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer is currently the only RW legend dedicated to artifacts. A RW Artifact deck would be fresh. That said, I wouldn't oppose a reprint of Master Warcraft, but that's still taking RW in the aggro route. Of course, Sunforger is a must-reprint, artifact theme or no.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

And that stopped Iona, Shield of Emeria? Besides, it's been a few months since MM15 and C15 is a precon product.
I didn't say it couldn't happen. I thought you were saying it was in need of a reprint. I'm now assuming you meant it really ought to be in the deck, and I agree. I, personally, don't think Pernicious Deed is too good for Commander, and I don't think it'd cause its deck to be snatched up.
My LGS owner took all the commander players aside to tell us that she had inside info that enemy fetches would be in the new products. I protested, "but i'd heard that was proven to be merely speculation". She responded that she had a very good info source on the topic.
Some more info on it. She's never provided spoiler or "inside info" before, but also seemed very very confident. So confident in fact, that there was lengthy discussion about different pricing based upon the relative value of different fetches.
I dunno, just thought I'd put it out there. While not sure, I lean towards believing it.
So, now, whats the ethics on not supporting my LGS and buying the izzet deck at least for MSRP at walmart? I'm conflicted on that one.
No more conflicting than a store owner either lying to a customer or attempting a low-scale level of insider trading.
It's not like we haven't seen people be EXTREMELY confident about the fetches being in any other set, as some sigs around here will inform you. Confidence is something to be taken with a grain of salt at this point.
As for your level of conflict, think of it this way: If you can pre-order, they'll likely sell them at MSRP or even a slight discount, because no one knows what's in them.
If it turns out that there's something inside that skyrockets the price, you'll be able to get it at MSRP at a big box store. This is a product that is printed for a full year, so you'll have plenty of time to figure that out.

What's the ethics of a store charging more than MSRP on an item that they know is not going to be limited and will be available from big box retailers?

Not entirely unreasonable, given the level of supply and demand. Sometimes scum-baggish, sometimes not.
Remember, the Mind Seize Deck just had a much higher demand than others. It was difficult to find anywhere until they set up a second print run that doubled the amount of that deck produced, and until that point, that kind of response was unheard of.
Sounds like the shop is juat trying to get you to preorder honestly
There is no chance in hell that the enemy fetches end up in this, none whatsoever
It's not like there's NO chance. I think there is a chance they could be printed, especially since enemy color fixing is pretty shallow as is. I'm not saying it's a particularly high chance but I wouldn't totally count against it.

I am in this camp. Do I want this in CMDR15, not really. Is it likely? I wouldn't be surpirsed.
Now do I wanna pay 20-30 more for a product just for 1 land, no I do not.
Thing is, I think WotC would be aware of that, on some level.
They've shown in the past that they can increase the amount of printing for that product, and it would be a massive undertaking to snatch up a product that large in scale.
It could happen. I have almost zero expectation of it, but it could.
Yeah I honestly don't want these stupid lands in these decks. They'll just drive up the prices and ruin the whole point of getting the commander-oriented cards. I pray they're not in these decks.
Good points everyone. I guess I hadn't considered how much less exciting a fetchland is than entirely new cmdr oriented cards. Fetches making the decks hard to find would be annoying. As for buying them at the store, one way I look at it is the price I pay periodically for being provided with a place to play the game with lots of people. My LGS doesn't have many singles, so the commander players don't provide much income outside of the occasional sleeves and deck boxes.
The thing is, as others have pointed out, if speculators did buy up this product because of fetches, that would drive down the price of all the other cards. So it would actually make the non-fetch cards cheaper and easier to find on the singles market.
Thing is, I think WotC would be aware of that, on some level.

WotC basically admitted that putting True Name Nemesis in C13 was not a good idea and congratulated themselves with the anti cheat priest in C14 as being mich better because it was a sideboard card
Them printing enemy fetches for C15 would mean they unlearned a valuable lesson they publicly stated was learned

Even if those are fakes, I love the artworks on those. Man, what a shame!

I get the feeling we might see Deathrender and/or Scythe of the Wretched in the WB or BG decks. Scythe would be especially fitting for a BG deck with a harvest theme, complete with Harvester of Souls and Soul of the Harvest. Pernicious Deed is a must-reprint. Or would it be too good?
