Speaking of feast and famine- the swords mega cycle all had just -1 CMC compared to this, same equip. And instead of getting +1/+1 and a land drop, you'd get +2/+2, two protections, +1 card advantage (besides war & peas) and some other oodle of upside tacked on. For 5 invested instead of 4. Maybe its an impossibly high bar to hold it to, but this isn't a gamebusting staple in the works
Yeah, and we also used to have Liliana of the Veil for the same cost as the new Liliana, and Jace the Mind Sculptor for only one more mana than new Jace, and Stoneforge Mystic for one mana more than Gideon, so I don't get the hype for those new cards either.
/sarcasm.
If Jace cost 3UU and broke the mold by being the first *two* ability walker with no brainstorm or unsummon and his +2 was a +1, this would be apt
Cool that Read the Bones is back. Expecting Dissolve, Magma Jet, and Drown in Sorrow to be reprinted fairly soon as well, now that scry is evergreen.
Also, one last comment of appreciation for the flavortext in Origins. There are some real gems there, including a few that snuck through in the final reveal, like Aerial Volley, Psychic Rebuttal, and the new Demolish. (The flavortext of Ghirapur Æther Grid isn't anything uniquely clever or poignant, but the fact that the city is considered to be alive is fascinating for worldbuilding purposes.)
And there an awful lot of fun uncommon enchantments in this set. Should make limited fun.
(Also, Acolyte of the Inferno is a sweet name for a sweet card. In spite of the toughness, it actually takes an X/3 to trade with it, and an X/6 to survive it, which is awfully sweet for a Red 3-drop that gets bigger if you don't block it.)
Notable that there is still nothing great for Relic Seeker to fetch, check back every 3 months for the next year.
Wait... when did Relic seeker's text change to "becomes renowned" from etb? This card did an okay impression of SFM before, but now it just seems BOOTY.

Am I the only one who is so disappointed that they only made Enshrouding Mist as a support for renown?
There's a creature with Renown that draws you a card whenever a creature you control becomes renowned. But yeah, a solid "renown matters" rare would have been sweet. Maybe a 1 mana uncommon anthem that gave all your active renowned creatures +1/+1. Maybe "creatures you control have renown 1..." I dunno.

Eyeblight Massacre: Wrath Of Elves! The elves sure are unpleasant in this set.
The elves of Lorywn aren't your average nice Tolkien elves from Middle Earth. They think it's their duty to make their world prettier by killing everything that doesn't fit within their standard of beauty. In a way, they are the elves that the really old fairy tales talk about. The ones that stole babies and led people astray in the woods.
I would just like to point out that the "nice elves" thing is mostly the fault of bad Tolkien imitators who only read the parts that portray the hobbits' wonder at seeing an innately more magical species. Tolkienian elves could be vicious. The history of Middle Earth is full of tales of elvish treachery, rape, murder and genocide.
Having said that, Eyeblight Massacre is indeed a good sideboard card for when elves get into an aggro mirror match. Thornbow Archer is also a nice addition. It's almost a 2/2 for B with partial evasion.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Gather the Pack reminds me of Tracker's Instincts in it's ability to produce CA while simultaneously card filtering and setting up the graveyard. I think there is room for a deck there, probably with Eternal Witness and maybe Snapcaster Mage. Gonna see what I can do with it anyways.

Lycanthropy Awareness Day.
Hoping for a cure, or at least an outbreak.
Really? This is a super frowned upon method of grammer.
Erebos' Titan would have been fine.
Sorry, but wrong. Both would be acceptable, but most style guides prefer Erebos's.
For some reason I have never been able to figure out, calling that wrong is something that people who don't actually know about punctuation or grammar often do. I think it's because they confuse singular nouns ending in s with the plural.
Then again, you don't even know how to spell grammar, so I'm not sure why I bothered replying.

Since creatures can only become renowned once, having a card that gave all your creatures with renown "renown 1" wouldn't really do anything special.

I can't find this info anywhere, which might mean I'm just missing it, but...
I've seen the alt-art Dromoka/Seeker/Heiarch cards from the clash pack, and the WotC article that spoiled them talked about putting the whole list out "in a week," which is more or less passed. Any info on the clash pack lists yet?

Get LEVIATHAN, a novel of half-angel giants fighting prehistoric monsters in the world before the Flood, here, or get the Kindle edition here.
Wow, this set is such a mixed bag to me. On one hand we have some amazing reprints. Either card-wise(Goblin Piledriver) or art-wise (Auramancer, Revenant). Also we have some very interesting new cards.
On the other hand we have half the set made out of horrible CGI-looking art and more overcosted garbage.
I just don't know how to feel overall about this one, maybe drafts will tell.
This set isn't winning any art awards that is for sure...

well, there is the green creature that draws you a card each time a creature is renowed

I think the mechanic is fine as is, either way.
Only if "Erebos" was a plural noun and not a singular proper noun.
Which it isn't, so, y'know, "Erebos's" is correct.
