The only use I can see for this card is being used as a curve topper for a balls-to-the-wall aggro deck hoping to win the game by using the 4-life drain the next turn, and if that fails, drawing two the next turn. Sure, somebody will craft a deck that aims to give it to an opponent but I'm pretty sure those decks will never take off, I'm not mentioning running cards to "counter" the small side effect for losing the game because if you need to include something to play around your own cards...maaybe you could get rid of the problem card instead.
*Please remember to board these out vs control, they'll just find a way to stall for three turns and then enjoy watching your stupid grin as you choose the suicide option.
A good control player will not let this thing resolve.
What? Seriously? That's ridiculous. I love suspend! I think trample (particularly in combo with other abilities like deathtouch or protection), regeneration, and protection are all way more complicated/confusing for new players than Suspend is.
Well, Protection was just phased out and Regeneration is on the chopping block, so you may be correct in that they are complicated.
But Suspend is a fairly complex ability.
Honestly, if you can read none of those abilities are that complex
I just don't understand how "Protection from..." is ungraspable as a concept. Hell, "Regeneration" was simple for me before the "bubble shield" concept and players were arguing whether the regenerated creature hit the graveyard or not. I have seen countless games "simplified" for larger appeal, and more often than not it does not end well. Yeah, there's an injection of fresh blood into the game, but by the stated intentions of the developers themselves they're people with short attention spans. And what usually happens in 6 months is that those players jet, and the original players loyal to the game year after year are left with a shell version of a game they once played, and wondering (after they spent thousands of dollars) "why the hell did my 10 year playing experience get sailed up the river just so a few new players could play for 3 months and quit." It leaves a very bad taste in their mouths that borders on resentment. If the developers want fresh blood, just reinstate the Portal concept, and use it as some sort of farm league for new players while still leaving loyal players to enjoy the game they learned to love.
Plus, there is a collector aspect of this game that actually does still exist. And people don't collect "simple" things for too long. Just ask Garbage Pail Kids, pogs or Pokemon.
This game has turned into "cast this creature then put +1/+1 counters on it 'til your blue in the face." I'm glad that's still a graspable concept, but it's getting kinda old.

A good control player shouldn't let Siege Rhino or Rabblemaster resolve either... I guess there are no more good control players =(

Siege Rhino is not a problem card - control does not care about an otherwise vanilla 4/5 body.
Rabble can get in under counter FAR more easily than Demonic Pact.
This is a doomed to fail forum argument. To say that something resolving means one player is good and the other isn't, as well as suggesting without any context which card is a problem and which isn't is absurd.
A good control player knows how to assess the game state and find the appropriate solution given their hand, board and what might be coming from an opponent. A good aggro/midrange/combo player knows how to play around answers to their threats to avoid the control player stabilizing and knows when to go for it.
In the abstract, demonic pact resolving is totally sweet if you think you can deal with the incoming CA because you have the counter to the dromoka's command. That's my personal standard dream.
