Wow, Black has certainly gottenalotofbadmythics over the past several sets. Add this one to the pile
Hey, Lord of the Void is legit
I was mostly referring to the amount of play that it saw. Then again, the white Mythic in Gatecrash was Gideon, so I think I'd take the demon over the planeswalker in this case.
I really like FRF from the spoiler until now, and I was seriously thinking to buy a Booster Box, although I never do it for small sets since it's rarely convenient, but this Mythic has lead me to the conclusion that, despite fetches and cash cards, it probably isn't worth the money, just as usual.
If "only" nine out of ten mythics being good scares you away from boxes then I'd be curious to know which sets you've bought boxes in. Besides, cracking packs for the mythics you want isn't the best of ideas.
As for the card it's... fine. Fill your graveyard and get a truckload of 2/2s for seven mana. At best you've got some synergy like Secret Plans and whatnot. Or if you're playing against a reanimator deck it can blow them out if you need it to. It's the junk mythic of the set for sure but nowhere near the worst mythic we've seen.
When was the last time black got a good Mythic Rare? Was it Liliana of the Veil in Innistrad?
Even if I did "cheer" for certain colours I'd more be doing it by keeping an eye on commons, uncommons and rares. Black has been good lately. Mythics are mythics, don't worry about them too much.
I'd say run trail of mystery on turn 2 and then cast this bad boy and not only pull 5 or 6 creatures, but go fetch 6 lands out of your deck.. talk about thinning your deck and making sure you hit the right topdeck

OK fair. At least I was right with Innistrad block in general.
Maybe they still feel guilty about those since they turned out to be extremely good? Liliana is the second best planeswalker ever and Griselbrand got Griselbanned in EDH.
3 power for 2 mana in red is big. No drawback is big. Upside (dash) is big. Goblin creature type is big. That's a big common!
Black sorcery is junk bin rare. Boring and bad.
Ok so not an epic omg I need me 4 of these mythics but how has nobody mentioned the way this interacts with cards that trigger when they are turned face up. second activation of jeering instigatorkheru spellsnatcher anyone? Hooded Hydra 5/5 that makes 5 guys when it dies for GGhow about a surprise flip of grim haruspex remember manifested cards are non-token. Oh and my favorite part the shuffle so I can truly play 3 card monte with my threats.
Unless, of course, the "exiling" isn't doing what I think it is.
Yeah the exiling is just a temporary place to put the cards face-down while you shuffle them. If they get killed while face-down, they still go to the graveyard.
Regarding Lord of the Void... A 7/7 flier for 7CMC that exile-mills your opponents AND gets you free creatures every time it connects....is a bad mythic?

Heyyyy, I likeNecropolis Regent! (It's fun with Marchesa!)
But yeah, I agree with you completely on the rest.
What I don't get is why Ghastly Conscription asks you to shuffle the pile of exiled cards before you manifest them? Surely the order doesn't matter at all? You get them all, you manifest them all, you can look at them at any time, everyone knows what you got...

It's so the opponents don't know which specific manifested dude is which creature from the GY.

Unlike the others, Hythonia was absolutely a limited first-pick. I would totally play this as a finisher against any opponent who doesn't delve (though I'll admit I can't quite see it in standard. Not with all the exile effects we have right now). All the more in a format where the big stuff gets out around 5-6 mana anyway.

Ah, so they don't know which one to piff? I get it now.
The old "I know one of them's a Snapcaster, but stuffed if I know which" trick.
Guys, every set has a Johnny Mythic, usually in either Red or Black.
Ghastly Conscription isn't a very good card, not really standard playable.
But all the same, I'm dang tempted to make a BG deck of nothing but Baleful Eidolon, Heir of the Wilds, Pharika's Chosen, Ruthless Ripper, and Sedge Scorpion, and just troll hard by deathtouch screening everything all game, and then Ghastly Conscripting them back for round two. Assuming I had an answer for flying (Plummet? Setessan Tactics?), it could probably be pretty annoying, though not really competitive.
Merciless Conscription's point is that it's maddeningly close to being a good card. If it cost 1 less, it'd be borderline playable. If it Manifested EVERYTHING, don't kid yourself, this would be the new control finisher, since you're talking getting probably 7-10 2/2s with potential upside then... It's SO close to being good.
I think the guy who named Trail of Mystery is the closest to finding a use for it. A more serious take on the troll deck above (Ruthless Ripper, Temur Charger, Hooded Hydra) will get all sorts of value out of this. Heck, just getting two Ruthless Rippers back from your graveyard with this and a Trail out is "Search your deck for two lands. Your opponent loses four life. Put two 1/1 Deathtouchers into play." Not exactly backbreaking, but a big step towards stabilizing. Throw in a Hooded Hydra in the yard, and we could see some real fireworks.
(No matter how hard I try, not GOOD, but you might be able to poke an FNM with it.)
I can See Ghastly Conscription as a sideboard 1 of trump card in whip deck mirrors.
Scout seems like a nightmare for pure control decks. He's a repeatable searing spear unless dealt with. But in this meta, I don't know how viable pure control is going to be.

As an aggro scumbag myself, this is exactly what I was thinking when I came to this post. I'm real excited at the idea. Too bad I had to weed through infinite "erggg garbo mythic" and "mmmmm EDH" frivolity before I got here.

For EDH, Rise of the Dark Realms is extremely good.

I would have killed to have this back in the Urza's Saga days for aggro decks.
