The entire point of this set is to put more supply into the market as a way to try to allow people to get into the format. I think that looking at this set from a standpoint of gaining cards to fill in your own personal collection is likely the intent behind making this sort of product from wizard's standpoint. Over the course of the last two years I think I have thought about buying into decks like Jund and Abzan several times but the cost to obtain those chase cards has more or less immediately squashed my ability to buy into such a deck. Ideally this sort of product gets the ball moving on some of those wishes as well as putting a more reasonable price tag on some of these cards for a while.
Modern cards are supposed to maintain a more reasonable price tag due to reprinting so I hope wizards lives up to this. I hope that this product will be readily available and I hope that prices do sink on such a product and the cards within it. The point of this product is to 1) have a fun and good draft set and 2) to increase supply of high demand cards to a point that the cost of cards can become a more manageable thing. I hope this set accomplishes wizard's goals (which MM1 did a poor job of).
I have a moderately priced BW Tokens deck and a relatively cheap RW burn but I always wanted to build a Splinter Twin deck. Unfortunately Snapcaster Mage's price isn't going anywhere, but hopefully many of the other big staples being reprinted in MM15 (and U/R fetches in BFZ?) will help me build it under the $800-1000 entry fee...
Personally I have never understood preorders either. It's not like the product will be sold out day one.
This is the first time I've ever preordered a box.
I normally just pre-order singles, but given the nature of the set,
it's not like there are going to be "sleepers" or any cards undervalued at first.
It's highly unlikely the set will ever be readily available under MSRP.
Most stores here sold MM1 for 10$/pack,
and I'm willing to make the gamble that MM2 is at least as good as MM1.
To condense my point- I'm preordering a box because I'm sure it will have lots of great stuff,
and I doubt it will ever be cheaper.

I have neither the skill to correctly and accurately analyze this set in the context of current and future formats after 12 hours of exposure, nor the hubris to delude myself into believing that I do.

Could see darksteel ingot, spectral searchlight, or just plain old signets make an appearance in this in terms of ramp. Ondu giant isn't out of the question either since it was quite good in RoE limited.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Nice, now the big question is wether it will be rare or mythic.
If they put her at Mythic we have every right to riot. They've stated multiple times that MR should be reserved for unique and extremely powerful (as far as Limited is concerned, see Beguiler of Wills) or flavourful cards, while typical cards with a universal function (normal discard or damage cards, dual lands etc.) are out of this range.
What about Lotus cobra?
Anyway, they SAY mythics are special, but in case of reprint sets like MM they clearly use it to control prices. They bumped bob and goyf solely on the monetary value of the card so it would stay high. Hierarch wasnt reprinted when the returned core set mechanic was exalted so it wouldn't surprise me if they bumped it to mythic.

The difference between Genius and Stupidity is that Genius has it limits.

Skittering Invasion seems likely.
It's too bad Modern doesn't have Nature's Lore or Skyshroud Claim,
or even Far Wanderings or Primal Growth.
Maybe we can at least get Rampant Growth?

If the new playmat is Karn, I will be getting a second playmat. I never saw the need since I only play one deck per game, but I would have too
Not only Rampant Growth, but Farseek, Utopia Sprawl, Farhaven Elf, Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Growth Spasm, Harrow, Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Search for Tomorrow.
I could see Cultivate and/or Growth Spasm, but any that have not been printed in a while would all be nice.

Damn...I've been keeping my eye on SCG all day waiting for the May 1 announcement, then they go and post it on reddit?
Still. It's Noble freaking Hierarch. Yay.
