Nothing is going to start at the current price and only go upwards... that is bad investment to buy into it now. The only thing you should buy into is modern staples in sets that are not getting into MM this year as they actually should just go up as more people enter modern but these cards don't.
Serum visions assuming it gets printed at common will plummet from the 8 bucks price it has now that's for sure.
Funny it is lower. The store I plan to spend some of my time at is getting close to 200 boxes. They are obviously getting much of their product outside of the normal allotment, but at 200 boxes for them and there being 3 other stores in the area, I expect this product will be easy to find for a foreseeable future.
Frankly, I think their numbers are absolute garbage. 200 boxes is 50 cases. Everybody else I've seen and talked to is saying 12 cases max, and you expect me to believe that one store is going to get 50? All the evidence points towards them being full of it.
They are getting their normal allotment and then others via distributors. This would be the first time the shop is full of it since I have been shopping with them.

RIP Batman guy. I hope somebody picks up the slack now that you are gone. Sick children need their Batman.
So, what's the cheapest everyone is seeing this available at stateside right now? I missed out on the $195/box auction and the cheapest I see right now is around $230.

$235 on the 'bay right now, locally I can't get any stores under $250.
i remember getting a box of mma1 at coolstuffinc for 199. should be able to get this for less. since we've already seen 24 boxes go for 195 each including shipping on ebay yesterday, 6 boxes just sold at 229.95 on ebay (free ship) and you can get them for $234 including ship on ebay now (one guy is accepting 233 obo, b/c that's what he countered my offer with).

im holding out for 190 a box i think
I don't think you'll see $190 a box prior to release. If there's a surplus of supply afterward, maybe. The dude at $195 is crazy, just because one person sells at $195 doesn't mean that's where the market is. There's a reason every single box went in 31 minutes... because it was a great deal. I'd bet if you listed boxes at $225 right now, you'd sell them pretty quick too.
If anything, current market conditions show extraordinary demand in the $230 and under region. I think $200/box, if you go the preorder route, is a good target price.
And here I was excited to get my box at MSRP from a local shop. Didn't think they would be going for BELOW that. Damn
ya, if that other poster is correct and stores are getting these boxes at $120 a box stores are making a killing on these as it has been hyped up and people wanting to spec. once people realize how much cheaper you can get them a lot of people are going to wish they waited

I don't disagree with anything you said tbh . I think anything $210 or under right now is probably a good buy price. 6 boxes just sold quickly at $229.95 each supporting what you said. i think as people see cheaper completed auctions though prices will come down. i'm not going to buy at 230. i might buy at 210 still at least a box.

Wizards is going to put secondary market value in these to justify the prices. The only reason they are this low is because not much has been spoiled. I have a feeling the pre-order people around 230 are not going to regret it.
I am personally not worried about prices for modern masters 2015, my LGS tries very hard to get players Into modern I should be ale to get boxes for 220 at least
Serum Visions should have been in Theros, plain and simple. But I'll be shocked if it wasn't in MM2.
"Serum" is unique to Mirrodin, and thus wouldn't fit flavor-wise. They can't make a functional reprint without breaking the Modern format. Thus it had to wait until a core set, supplemental product, or MM2015.
On topic, I sold a MM1 box for $270 on eBay at release time (day after I bought it locally). MM2015 is going for less than that currently, so I imagine the increased supply is outstripping demand. The MSRP is higher and secondary market value is lower.
Not trying to start another cycle of the hair pulling and girly slap fights here, but on NPR today I got listen to an interesting 17 minutes that discussed MTG's key to success that might affect how much they will be printing of MM2015. They did have Wizard employees talking and it was fun listening to.
For anyone who is interested in hearing it can find it on NPR's website, episode 609 "The curse of the Black Lodus" it came out on MARCH 27, 2015. I recommend listening to the whole thing, but if you want to get to the part I want to point out skip to 7:15 of the recording.
If MM1 was the testing of the waters then there is a good chance now that Wizards will apply their main strategy to MM2015 (To a degree).

This was linked to earlier in the thread (and the posted date on the NPR site is actually the 11th of March, not the 27th, it was posted here prior to that as well)
Printing a little is fine but hopefully they won't go back to their Homelands / Fallen Empires / Chronicles ways.
Question is, what would be defined as "a little"? Seems like a very, very subjective point, especially if the set is meant to have some, any, sort of impact on Modern.

One gone already. Seems like $230-$235 is the sweet spot at the moment to move them quickly without killing your margins.
I'll buy any English boxes I see under $200, at least for now. I'm kinda regretting not buying all 24 boxes from the guy at $195 yesterday.
ya apparently that auction popped up shortly after i checked out auctions and I missed them I would have probably bought 4-8.
I think we may have found our floor price for the foreseeable future.
Ya, apparently $230 sells out immediately and $235 just hangs out there. I sure wish I would get an ebay bucks multiplier....
Oh, god, don't tempt me... those 10% eBay bucks days are ruinous for me haha.
