I can't find the timing in the video where they say it, but what are Chandra's creatures? The phoenixes are obviously Chandra's Phoenixes but what are the other creatures?
Likely Regathan Firecat. It's flavor text references her home plane.
Hmnn, i wonder who the mysterious white walker is?
could it be serra, or nahiri
nah it is probably just Ajani, maybe Gideon, i just hope its not a soldier swarm with Elspleth.
might as well have a non-human walker, would partially solve the dilemma of too many female walkers not that it matters too much.
I hope they actually make a new walker, they could even hype it and spoil a new white walker when they reveal the complete game, before the last core set.
Sorta ow they have a ridiculous amount of zendikar nostalgia in Commander 15.

That's what it was, thank you. I can't remember why I wanted to know, but thank you.
I can't wait until the rules are posted, so to find out how mana and color identity works. I assume the mana system will be like loyalty from Dungeon Command, where let's say you played Chandra, turn 1 you'd get turn 2 you'd get RR, turn 3 you'd get RRR etc

3WWU, 2GWW, and 4RWW! These were the mana costs chosen to summon the perfect little angel! But Professor Avacyn accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction! Chemical x Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Gisela, Bruna, and Sigarda have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!
It's almost certainly not Ajani, or they would have announced it at the time. The same is probably true of Gideon, besides which his focus isn't really on summoning or leading armies. A one-miniature force wouldn't be very compelling.
That really does leave us with Nahiri or Elspeth. I would have thought they would have announced Nahiri's inclusion when she was spoiled, but I could be wrong. Elspeth does make a lot more sense thematically--in a game about leading armies, it would make sense to have the military leader as one of the options.
I guess they could add a new white walker, but I somehow doubt it. Right after adding Nahiri, when white already had Ajani, Elspeth, and Gideon? Seems like a bit much in a color that is already tied for most planeswalkers.

Still hoping for Elspeth.
I believe it's Nahiri, we still don't have confirmation that she's still alive so if her return is a major plot element in the future they can't announce her for the game.

I find it unlikely that Nahiri will make her return in Dragons of Tarkir, and they're shooting for a fall 2015 release for the board game. There's not really time for a reveal of her still being alive. While she could show up in the last core set, that wouldn't really be a dramatic reveal or a major plot element--it would just be "Oh, hey, she's alive."

Well lets make some assumptions,
1. I think there's a good chance we will see Ugin, Sorin and Nahari together again in block together most likely for Return to Zendikar which has got to be either Blood / Sweat or Tears / Fears.
Maybe it's further out, but I would be super surprised. Could she appear in the core set to replace, Maybe, but it really feels like the wrong place to debut (re-debut?) a new character.
2. Nahari was suited C14 because she fit a Bottom Up Equipment focused design, Is there any evidence that the white faction of the MTG board game is equipment focused?
3. I don't really have a 3rd point, I do agree that there will be some combination of M16 Lead combining this, DOTP and the core set. Evidence is strong that it'll be the white character. Now let's speculated Last core set was garruk focused which picked up threads from Innistrad, Chandra's Focus wasn't as story driven which does seem to be something they are trying to fix/improve on. Likewise for Nicol Bolas in M13.
So I think we can expect M16 to focus on Planeswalker plot thread that is not overly tied to current or recent blocks (Logically this allows them greater creative freedom without risk of treading on blocks in development)
If we assume a White Lead them I think Ajani is probably out (2 new version in last block / core, featured in last block). Elspeth also was in the last block, seems to be dead for now, Doesn't seem like her story will pick up in a core set.
So that leaves Gideon or Nahari, I think either could make a good focus, Gideon was sort of the face of M12 (gather your allies) I think Gideon will likely be a good lead to pick up the other threads leading into Return to Zendikar, Gideon's also got a cool gimmick that is very different from Ajani or Elspeth to shake up white's role in core sets.
Nahari on the other hand would be a good way to pass the plot ball from Takir into Blood without having to tie the story directly to current block events because the core set could be a where has Nahari been all these years.
while leaving some groundwork to lead in to her joining back up with the others in Blood / Return to Zendikar.
Honestly I'm not expecting Blood to be Return to zendikar, I think we will get a break and then Return to Zendikar.
I don't think they will tie in the board game PW to the current story plots.
looking how we got pretty generic green walker (Nissa), black walker (liliana), blue walker (jace), red walker (chandra).
the representations don't fit the walkers specifically but more the color orientation.
thus what white planeswalker feels essentially white.
Nahiri- equipement doesn't seem to be core theme of white
Elspeth - soldier swarm seems quite a bit more in line with white
Ajani- lifegain, swarm, anthem seems quite in line with the core philosophy
Gideon- fills the swarm as well as controlish aspects
i am not even sure lilliana is even appropriately displaying blacks core philosophy, it seems it is bleeding into a bit too much into what white needs (lifelink). On that note Jace seems like he should be milly and filter instead of phantasms.
I also see a bit of a problem with a swarm strategy for white, giving white more pieces to move, while having the best overall P/T and utility would probably make white incredibly strong. Perhaps something like tap target creature and creatures you control have vigilance (move after atk/action?). This seems more differentiated from the other walkers. vigilance, lifelink, first strike are whites hall mark key words, seems really hard when lilliana has dibs on lifelink (totally not her style: discard/tutor, sacrifice), i can see white benefiting from lifelink and vigilance since first strike seems quite in reds core of hard and fast, black could instead discard, tutor and/or reanimate (liliana's a necromancer after all).
Taking it all into consideration, a black, blue and white and maybe even the red PWs need adjustments since they fit sorta the core of their color philosophy sort of but mostly miss their character styles. Since they want to use the iconic character i think it might be better to focus on their styles of play rather than color core philosophy. The red PW seems to need to portray burn (ranged atk?) and card cycling, the blue need to portray drawing and milling (core could also support counters), the black should display removal, discard, tutor (core supports reanimation), the white seems to want swarm, anthem, vigilance, lifelink, tapping.
For the white planeswalker i think a new planeswalker would best suite since the old white PWs seems to be too specialized, ajani seems to be the most middle of the road. So i think a completely new PW is in order, they have created new PWs for their supplemental products such as commander 2014, conspiracy, Dack Fayden comics, it doesn't feel like such a stretch to make a new PW to fill the need to represent the core philosophy. And it is not like adding major characters in supplemental products messes with the major plots since they can be weaved in to fit like in commander and the Dack Fayden comics.
I think something like Serra an angelic PW could fill the roll, supports soldier swarm, flying, lifelink, vigilance, anthem. I can actually see their minions being knights and priests, and if not an angelic PW they could be angels.
thank you for reading, i think i wrote quite a lot
I meant more in they way the face PW can subtly effect the feel of core play style / theme. we can kinda see this in the core sets when there is a shift
I.e. Lillana = Zombies, discard, graveyard. Sorin = Life Loss, Vampires. Gideon = Tapping and combat, vs Ajani's Lifegain and Auras/enchantments.
They have shown previously that they can and will shift the core colour philosophy shown in there core products. I can see it happening for the MTG Boardgame.
Nah, I think Ticket to Ride would have been a better choice.
Get mana to cast spells? Certain spells equal points?
Haha sorry it was a smart comment/joke. I was surprised to hear someone say they wished it was a Euro worker placement game. While I could see that being a neat re-theming of such a game, that's all it would be is theme, and it would be difficult to incorporate enough mechanics for it to still feel like Magic. This game feels like Magic.

No, that's sort of the point, LoW is a worker placement game with a D&D skin over it. There's almost no qualities of D&D in it whatsoever.
Hasbro has revealed the official title will be Magic the Gathering: Arena of the Planeswalkers. As expected after the announcement of Magic Origins, the fifth Planeswalker in the game is Gideon.
The game is due in select retailers this June and will be more widely available in August for around $30. In the box will be: six modular board pieces, four plastic terrain pieces, three plastic glyphs, two temple ruins, five painted Planeswalker mini figures, 30 squad mini figures, one 20-sided die, eight combat dice, 30 damage counters, 60 spell cards, 10 Squad stat cards, and five Planeswalker cards.
Awesome. It looks like it's still coming with disappointingly little terrain, but my Heroscape stuff is still easily accessible so I'm not too worried.
I was surprised to see the $30 price point. I am in day 1. Hopefully when I am at Pax East I can get a demo, and have my dreams crushed of buying a copy there

One of the draws of Heroscape was the low price point (which we talked about earlier in this thread, I think). They really put a lot of other places (like Fantasty Flight Games) to shame, because of relatively good quality minis for pretty cheap.
I agree. If it was a new character or Elspeth back from the dead, that would be a surprise, but Gideon is the obvious second choice for a white planeswalker.
