Even though I'm a URG player through and through, it seems that the clan has much more Gruul than Simic or Izzet in it, so I'm a bit disappointed for now. If everything goes wrong, I can still go GUB and become a Sidisi fan.
Well, they're certainly not going to be Izzet since the clans are all about their main colours (in this case green) and we've seen nothing so far to suggest they aren't strongly UG. Those colours aren't just about evolution vats and sharkcrabfrogpeople.
I know that much, but I just don't see anything blue so far. Blue is about seeking knowledge and perfection, and neither of those are really associated with savagery or bear-punching. On the other hand, we've barely scratched the surface of the world's setting, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions here, however important first impressions might be.
I don't think so. These sets are planned far in advance that the ~3 weeks lost shouldn't mean all too much. I'm thinking that this might be a new schedule to space out the summer product release with the annual core set.
With the Khans of Tarkir block release schedule, how the heck are they supposed to fit Duel Decks Planeswalker from Theros block vs Amother Planeswalker from Theros block? It just doesn't seem right unless it is sandwiched between the second and third sets of the block.
I made a reason why the Tarkir block release schedule is weird. My reasoning is that WOTC probably wants the same amount of time for the first and third set of the block to be the "newest" set.
My predictions would be set 2 released middle of January and third set released late March.
Under normal circumstances, starting with the core set, the amount of months each main set is the "newest set" would be:
2.5 months for core set, release date is mid July
4 months for large set 1, release date is late September/early October
3 months for small set 2, release date is early February
2.5 months for small set 3 release date is early May
Let's take Innistrad block which follows the usual release pattern. Avacyn restored is a large set, but it is the "newest set" for shorter period of time compared to Dark Ascension, which is a small set.
Let's take Khans of Tarkir block, and my predicted release schedule
M15 lasts 2.5 months as newest set
KTK lasts 3.5 months as newest set
Dewey lasts 2.5 months as newest set
Louie lasts 3.5 months as newest set.
That way the 2 larger sets have more time as the "newest set" and the small set has less time as the "newest set".
Another theory of mine is that they are permanantly changing the release schedules because they want to accomodate both a multiplayer variant product, and a Modern product. This year we had both Conspiracy and Modern Event Deck released in the same month. Maybe they want to separate the release dates for the Modern product and Multiplayer Variant? I don't know.
Maybe this paving the way for a "4 set block" as the next block, but I hope that isn't the case. I don't think jamming another main set into the year is a great idea.
Can somebody clear something up for me? With all the talk about mono colored throwback planeswalkers, why has nobody mentioned Baron Sengir? Didn't he wind up on another plane, and still not reappear?

Grandmother Sengir was a planeswalker, the baron was not, and is in the RL soo noo reprint.

If everything goes wrong, I can still go GUB and become a Sidisi fan. No, not AC/DC fan. Not Esidisi fan, either. I'm already both of those, snake ladies are just cool, okay?
I know how you feel on this one. Though, my allegiances are ironically more centered around Izzet and Gruul than Simic. Thus, my issue is that I will now have to still worry about two different factions: Temur and Jeskai.
I'm leaning toward Temur at the Pre-release for now. The idea of Gruul with supporting Blue is tantalizing. I'm not a fan of White as much as Green, but I'll be watching so I can properly judge the Jeskai.

I think they have shifted the plans for the Duel Decks in recent years, as the fall release didn't line up with the fall big set. so now the fall duel deck is a "thematic" pairing that fits in the Fall block universe. Heroes vs monsters last year, now speed vs cunning this year. The Planeswalker release is now the 2nd set of the year, and I have a hunch they will make these a bit less tied to the main set of the year going forward, even though jade vs vraska was clearly a ravnica pack. Or maybe the switch happens this year, and we'll see a more Tarkir duel deck and Theros gets shortchanged by the switch. Duel decks are very much standalone products meant to appeal to different types, so having them be more distinct from each other seems fine to me. VERY psyched they are re-releasing the 4 original duel decks, they are the only ones i DONT have and at this stage, i only buy duel decks for casual play, no longer investing in standard competitive decks. win!
The mention of a Grandmother Sengir planeswalker has summoned me to this thread. Oh hell yes.
Grandmother Sengir 1BB
+1: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.
-2: Search your library for a card and put it into your hand.
-4: All creatures gets -X/-X where X is the number of cards in your hand.

Her given name was Ravi, and that would be probably used in the improbable case she would be the one chosen. "Ravi" is a better PW type than "Grandmother"
Still, for black, if they really do oldwalkers in this way. Leshrac, Tevesh Szat and Lord Windgrace are all much more probable than her. The first two even more, because Windgrace was essentially BR with a bit of green, and of good affiliation.

Anybody think the black walker could be Geralf? I mean we never got a card for him and Gissa references him in her flavor text. I know people are clambering for much older stuff but this would be pretty sweet flavor wise if the black deck has a reanimation/ undead theme.

If Geralf shows up here, I have a feeling he will be in the Blue deck,
to represent the Skaab zombies from Innistrad,
with some ability that exiles creature cards from your graveyard and makes larger tokens than Gisa.

from the art it's looks like a storm rider clan
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"

Bullocks, that's right. I just thought it would be fun to have them both in the same deck since Gisa almost seems to be speaking to him directly.

True I suppose. Though an antagonistic working relationship seems really appropriate...lol.

I agree with Empathogen. Geralf is probably blue because of the color alignements to Zombies. I believe he could be the Doctor Frankenstein/Monster that everybody wanted.
Man everytime I see reprints from Innistrad, it's makes me warm and fuzzy. Now with the small sidestory characters, bring more of them!
