They're not going to mix old and new frame cards in these. That's the reason for the quantum reprints. So Swiftclaw and friends are in M15.
The sample decks have always had cards from other recent sets peppered in. It doesn't mean they're seeing reprint in M15. It seems to me the previewed cards are being reprinted so they can do their job of introducing basic concepts to new players without gumming up the booster packs of more experienced players. It doesn't have anything to do with the border. They could have just put M13/14 versions in, but they didn't because they want new players to be able to play with their cards, so they had to keep the contents standard-legal. Personally, I think it's genius. Every time I opened a Nightmare or Shivan Dragon out of M14 I got angry my rare slot was being taken up by a card with a thousand prior printings that would never be worth playing in standard, so why did they keep reprinting it? Now I realize they were including those cards just for brand new players. Thank god they found a better venue.

Some of them I'll be glad if their in M15, like Jace's Ingenuity for budget control players to replace the rotating Opportunity.
Sphinx's Revelation will also rotate, so my fear is that this will be the only viable instant card draw in the new set.
Ah, that might be bad. Here is to hoping for Mind Spring or Blue Sun's Zenith reprint. Or something new along those lines, perhaps a Skullcrack card-draw equivalent.
Simple AnalysisxUUU Instant
Simple Analysis can't be countered.
Card draw can't be prevented this turn. Cards in your hand can't be exiled or discarded until after your next two turns. You have no maximum hand size until after your next two turns.
If a spell or effect an opponent controls causes you to discard or exile Simple Analysis from your hand, reveal it, and draw 3 cards after that effect resolves.
Draw X cards.
That strikes me as so absurdly powerful, particularly the "if you are forced to discard, draw 3 cards" effect, that it would never be viable to print. Heck you could put it in the sideboard even in a deck that plays no blue sources, just in case you go up against a discard deck.

That is so extremely over the top, I don't know if you are joking or just drunk.

I'd say that's HUGE. No more Shivan Dragon boosters? Alright! Count me in!
Anybody else miss the days when Shivan Dragon was a chase rare? Power creep happens, but a part of my childhood died reading this thread
Funny, I was just about to write the same thing. Opening a Shivan Dragon was like opening, I dunno, Thoughtseize or Elspeth back in the day. Now he's just a junk rare...
Yep, same here. I remember way back in 1993 I had been playing for a couple months and my dad used to buy me 2 booster packs every Saturday. Well, here I go opening this one pack, and one of the cards is flipped over. What the heck. I flip it over and it's the $20 chase rare in the set in all its Melissa Benson glory. I just about hit the roof.

Back when men were men and Magic was Magic. I remember those days fondly.
Also, confirmed that several reprint cards (the ones pictured beneath each deck) are NOT reprinted in the Core Set packs, but ARE legal in Standard. They are numbered 270 and up, and can only be obtained via these Sample Decks.
I am so confused. So these cards will NOT be in Magic 2015 booster packs, but will be legal as long as Magic 2015 is legal in Standard? Who in R&D comes up with this stuff?

Then there's the flip side of that story-
I got a Shivan Dragon in my very first starter deck in 1994,
then promptly traded it for an Air Elemental because I knew nothing of rarity at the time
(and have always preferred elementals to dragons and Blue to Red).

Quote from Skullum »
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
A kithkin in a Core set? Weird. Could mean nothing, or it could be a hint for what's to come in Tarkir.
My thought exactly, its a weird inclusion unless the next block is tribal AND has this tribe.
No one would love this more than me, but I'm pretty sure there are no kithkins on tarkir, their place is lorwyn, it's a very plane specific tribe, not like elves, goblins or merfolk.

This is an interesting way to go about making new players more excited about the cards they just got. "You can't get these "normally"? Wow cool, better hang on to it..."
...Doesn't detract from the fact that I still really really really really really really hate the frame change. It only ever looks decent on Black cards, but that doesn't mean you can just play Mono-B from now on and be done with, because you still get treated to the lovely little holo stamps on all your rares. Euuuuuugh.
Yes, I'm still crotchety and bitter about this.

More like I just threw everything that might wind up on it in there, rather than restricting it to one or two of those things, and I'd just woken up.
JACES INGENUITY IS BACK?!?!?! FINALLY!!!
But seriously, it's about time they brought it back. That card left for no apparent reason, and there's been a hole in my heart ever since.
