As per today's arcana, Soul of Ravnica's abilities are each 5UU rather than the 3UU assumed from the blurry gameplay pics and currently listed on the spoiler.
This makes it way less exciting in my opinion.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
I honestly thought the card didn't make the cut for EDH barely and other constructed formats by a lot when it's activated ability was five mana.

As humans, we have a tendency to cling to ideologies. Any positive set of beliefs can quickly turn malevolent once treated as ideology and not an honest intellectual or experiential pursuit of greater truth. Ideology does in entire economic systems and countries, causes religions to massacre thousands, turns human rights movements into authoritarian sects and makes fools out of humanity’s most brilliant minds. Einstein famously wasted the second half of his career trying to calculate a cosmological constant that didn’t exist because “God doesn’t play dice.”
Yeah not for nothing this soul cycle is stating out to be horrid. Maybe the others will be decent hopefully one is playable. This is just bad. I mean in limited it is a bomb and the abilities can be used but the cost is ridiculous for what you get.

I think the green one could be deceptively playable with ramp and Nykthos, but it's too early to tell. I feel like a lot of green cards recently have been deceptively playable.
I'll happily open the Soul of Zendikar from the Steam promo booster. He is going to be pretty good in limited and might see some play in Nykthos decks, as said earlier. Soul of Ravnica's abilities are too high costed, even for limited. You are probably going to draw two cards for 7 mana. At least it is a 6/6 flier.
Drawing 2-3 cards at instant speed even when dead is not bad at all, even at 7 CMC for the activated ability.
You can always play a Progenitus commander deck and draw 5 cards for 7. Of course, at that price it's not standard playable, but it is very good in limited/commander.
I REALLY hope these aren't wasting actual mythic slots in M15 and it's just the promos and Duels of the Planeswalker versions that have mythic status, because I don't think these are really quite good enough to be worth mythic slots. Rare? Certainly! Mythic, not a chance. Soul of Ravnica's draw engine is very overcosted, and just makes it more of removal bait, although I'm shocked that it passes the vanilla test, given blue cards with abilities rarely do. Seriously, I'd rather play Staff of Nin at the mana costs involved for a draw engine, at least that isn't vulnerable to creature removal and doesn't force you to pay the cost for drawing over and over again. I don't think you'll often have many colors out either, except in maybe some really weird EDH situations.
Soul of Zendikar is better, but I still don't think it is quite worth a mythic slot. I actually like that they put reach on it rather than trample, because if you are using it as a token generator, you might not want to attack with it, and being able to sit back and block flying critters while generating tokens seems quite useful. It also has reasonable costs for the token generation. I mean, compare to, say, Heliod, God of the Sun, which produces much smaller tokens for only one less CMC per token.

It's too slow against aggro/burn decks. Against control decks you probably won't have enough of a board to activate it more than once a turn and if you do then you were probably winning anyway. Against midrange it is a plausible card since it can give you extra chump blockers or attackers.
The blue one is even worse. It actively requires you to have a board in order to be better than Azure Mage and it's coming in just as RtR is rotating out so cards like Detention Sphere won't even be able to help anymore.
I understand WotC is hesitant to print too powerful of cards after the Titans, but when something costs 6 mana it has to be great in order to be playable. A card that says I'm sometimes better than Azure Mage is just trash.

Eh, I'm still not giving up on the green one being playable yet. 6 mana is okay; elspeth is arguably a hundreds times better because her abilities use 0 mana. It's still a nice token engine and if it happens to die you can EoT get a 3/3. Midrange is very popular in standard post-JOU so I wouldn't say aggro and burn are going to hold anything back just yet.
Not gonna try to defend the blue one though. Looks like a classic case of "Made for EDH"
But what if, Khans is really a multicoloured block and Soul of Ravnica will draw 4-5 cards most of the time.
You overextend to hopefully draw 5 cards for 7 mana. That's the answer and the reason why people are groaning. 7 mana is a lot to do nothing (yes you get to draw cards but until you untap and play those cards it's nothing).
While seven mana is an awful lot, it's not really that unreasonable. He's got a body that's very competitive for his cost, so you can't really say that it should be discounted because he's expensive. So the next best comparison is Azure Mage, which is similarly costed appropriately for it's size, and also has a repeatable activated ability that draws you cards. So the baseline for "Draw a card" seems to be around 3U. Adding up to four more cards to that, conditionally, seems worth a spare 2U, if we're being on the conservative side. While it's unlikely Soul of Ravnica would have torn up the tournament scene with a more aggressively costed ability, its in line with their costing of similar abilities, and card draw is one of those abilities that can become very powerful very quickly with just a few changes.

The funny part about people saying it's "made for EDH" is that it's still bad in EDH.

Quote from Wolfman about lack of Conspiracy spoilers-
"I'd say this about guarantees that it won't be up till this Friday, but considering the current track record, the ETA is now probably two weeks after the set has been out."

Speak for yourself, if drawing *****-headed wurms makes social justice warriors cry I'll make it my favorite hobby.
No it's like really bad. I think people wanted a "fixed" Consecrated Sphinx, but 7 mana to draw a card....? Or a total of 13mana to get a better Mulldrifter? In my time 1 mana was all we needed to cantrip. Such cards don't exist in the new standard anymore.
I foresee the Red Soul having Haste. And a really bad ability in relation to cost. Maybe 7 mana deal 3 damage. Zzzzz
Soul of Zendikar probably won't get their either.
Remember, We have Polukranos, Broodmaster and Arbor Colossus just in standard and they are all more powerful on net.
Disclaimer: As per the norm, I am aware some people will disagree with my opinion and I acknowledge there is a possibility that my opinion is wrong. The above post is simply my musings on what I view to be the most likely scenario given the information that is available and I am aware of at the time of typing! Peace.
I personally would not even play this card in limited. I honestly do not understand why Wizards is dumbing everything down. Theros limited was alright, but Standard is not a thing for me right now currently, and things like this is why. M14 looks amazing compared to what I have seen in M15, and I never even cared for it. Theros was a little bit better as an expert block, but not enough to convince me it was a great block at all by a long shot. I honestly hope that maybe the core set in and of itself is bad, and the Khans block is much more exciting. The Soul of Ravnica is horrible in pretty much all formats, and I do not care if anyone tries to explain why it is good at all.
This makes it way less exciting in my opinion.
