Heroes' Bane
Creature-Hydra
3GG
Heroes' Bane enters the battlefield with 4 +1/+1 counters.
2GG: Put X +1/+1 counters on Heroes' Bane, where X is its power.
In addition, we see the equivalent to the Hero cards for this set: equipment. Now, it does look as though some of the text is missing, but here is what we see:
[Black Prerelease]
Lash of the Tyrant
Equipped Creature gets +1/+2 and Deathtouch
Equip 2
[Blue Prerelease]
Cloak of the Philosopher
When Equipped Creature deals damage, scry 1
Equipped Creature gets +1/+1
2 Untap Equipped Creature
Equip 2
[White Prerelease]
Spear of the General
Equipped Creature gets +2/+0 and First Strike
Equip 2
[Red Prerelease]
Axe of the Warmonger
Equipped Creature gets +2/+1 and Haste
Equip 2
[Green Prerelease]
Bow of the Hunter
Equipped Creature gets TAP to deal 2 to target creature or player
Equip 2
We also see the final Hero Card:
The Champion
2 TAP Exile the Champion. Search your library for a legendary artifact that isn't a creature, reveal it, and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library
The Champion strongly suggests we're getting a story-relevant legendary equipment, though it does already fetch out a couple non-equipment legendary artifacts in the set.
The blue one seems to be the strongest, and if the Champion card is actually a card, it's going to be bonkers in Legacy. Someone please fill me in on the legality of it.
The forging bit disappoints me to no end. I have no way of attending the event but have ordered one of each of the boxes so I can get the promos and now I can't actually GET them because you have to do things at the event.

None of the hero cards are even remotely legal in any constructed play, they're for battling the game day event and after that, I dunno, collecting and casual play?
By all means feel free to play games with friends where they're allowed but you can expect more than one guaranteed turn 2 Jitte, Mindslaver, Akroma's Memorial or, depending how casual you wanna get, a sneaky Gleemax
So we can forge 35 different Godslayers, essentially. Five cards and seven possible stickers.
Cool idea, indeed. The only downside is that a completist like me would probably need to get seven of each the Hero Equipment cards to have all possible combinations covered.

The Hydra should have been a 4/4 for 4 with trample, or even of those changes would have made it a hundred times better. Right now it's just kind of "meh" but we will see where it gets us with the other four prerelease cards.
In EDH the hydra is actually pretty great if you're given the chance to give him evasion or have Jarad, Golgari Lich or a card with a similar effect out. The amount of counters you can place on him is insane over the course of a few turns.
Obviously you'd hope to have something more reliable to spend your mana on, but he'd be a great mana sink late game. If you have Jarad as a general and have him out already, if it's mid to late game you can play the hydra and you can pump him a few times, then sac and win that turn or next turn.
Will you be able to play with the pre release foils?
Were you able to play with them during BNG, THS, DGM, GTC, RtR, that had the same prerelease format? If the answer is yes, is there a reason to think otherwise?

You weren't able to play with the foil from DGM prerelease. I think his question comes from the fact that this is the last set of the block, like DGM was.

No as I understand it the godsend is essentially the hero equipment card you have enhance with the stickers you add
I agree, compared to one of the most powerful mythics of its set, this prerelease rare is very average.

I don't even want to know how crazy this would get if you have Xenagos, God of Revels out or Kalonian Hydra.

I loathe creatures! Praise Prison and Land Destruction!
