I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
I think the big question is, in order to promote the set like they did with Theros are we going to get a "X vs Barbarians" duel deck next Fall? I think it's very likely What would you like to see in it?

Apparently WOTC has filed for another trademark "Dragons of Tarkir" in Australia, as per this article.
Wizards of the Coast, publisher of the popular trading card game Magic: The Gathering, has registered an Australian trade mark application for the term ‘Dragons Of Tarkir’.
It was reported last week that the company had filed a trade mark for the term ‘Khans Of Tarkir’, and this new similar trade mark gives further clues about what has been speculated could be new Magic: The Gathering expansions.
‘Dragons Of Tarkir’ was registered on February 21 by the US headquarters of Wizards of the Coast.
It covers classes across computers, video games, toys and electronic magazines. Specifically:
Class 9: Apparatus for recording, transmission or reproduction of sound or images; computer hardware; computer software; application software; interactive entertainment software, including computer game software, computer game programs, computer game cartridges, computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computers, portable gaming devices, console gaming devices, communication devices and mobile telephones; printed publications in electronically readable form
Class 28: Toys, games and playthings
Class 41: Education; providing of training; entertainment; sporting and cultural activities; publication of books, magazines and journals; publication of electronic books and journals online; publication of multimedia material online; providing online electronic publications (not downloadable); organisation of competitions
The trade mark remains at the early status of ‘Filed – Approved’, meaning it has not been seen by an IP examiner yet.
Wizards of the Coast also filed an Australian trade mark for the previously-reported ‘Khans Of Tarkir’ on February 18, covering the same classes.
Interestingly, the article also cites MTGS and this very thread as the source for their info on "Khans of Tarkir", and leaves the door open on speculation of whether this product is ultimately for MTG or D&D.
IMO if these are MTG set names, the whole Khans and Dragons theme seems like influence from ASOIAF / Game of Thrones, so it'd be nice and look less of a hackjob if they used some of the flavor speculated here already (Sarkhan Vol and his potentially home-plane of Mongseng) as a seed instead...

Score one for the Sarkhan speculation. He's been MIA for a while, and if there's a land of dragons, I can't think of a better place for his return. Who knows, maybe we'll finally get an update on Bolas as well.
It occurs to me that MTG is copping more and more of their themes from popular culture every year (Innistrad- supernatural fiction, Theros- God of War, Warlords- Game of Thrones). Not that that's a bad thing at all, but I would like more of this stuff to be tied in with existing lore.

Thing is Mongseng and Tarkir can't be the same plane. And they name the first set of the plane after it and we haven't got a peep for Mongseng. If Warlords of Khanar fell through on the copyright registry and Tarkir didn't, which seems to be the case since two copyrights have it but the earlier one doesn't seems where going to a plane called Tarkir. Plus naming a set Warlords of Khanar is very idiotic since the name ends up being warlords of warlords..ummm..place, then the next two sets have a name different than it. At least with Khans of Trakir you still get the feeling of warlords and a worlds name.
And as for leaving it open, they always do that. At least as far back as Innistrad we've been fooled into thinking it was for D&D some times. Dark Ascension, Dragon's Maze and Theros also come to mind for that. Anymore its best to think it could be for either, but that its for MtG.

In terms of block flavour and function, if the names (Warlords of Khanar/Khans of Tarkir) suggest a Mongolian theme, I'm going to go on a limb and say it will focus on the snow mechanic. Mongolia sits along the Himalayas so that would be a nice tribute to that culture and its identity. If that's the case then I could easily see Centaur Omenreader as a viable reprint in either of those sets to tie into Theros flavour-wise.

Sounds like it belongs to D&D. Unless the next plane we are heading to is filled with Mongolians and Dragons (Title or Actual).
Well, all clues right now do indeed point to that.
"Dragons of Tarkir" pretty much seals it for the folks who guessed this block would feature Sarkhan Bol.
It may even be his home plane, with Dragons (the set) marking the end of the Dragons' absence from that world.

If Dragons of ______ was true, then we have reasons to believe that this was a pre-Shards of Alara era. Where dragons used to be roam freely until their "disappearance".
Well, at least this will be the way I try to milk his character. It's a good opportunity to introduce a mono-red Sarkhan, new walkers, new antagonists, rather than Nicol Bolas all over again. But for all we know, the latter could have been planning for this.
At least we more or less know that a Dragon block could be in the works.
Dragons of Tarkir could just be for Sarkhan's plane what Avacyn Restored was for Innistrad.

Perhaps Sarkhan will save the dragons or whatever, and as thanks the dragons will pledge their loyalty to Bolas? Would be kinda cool.
The dragon thing definitely makes you think of Mongseng, but didn't we agree it's a rule that the name of the plane be in the Huey set? On the other hand, Occam's Razor's suggesting more and more they'll just be ignoring that this time around.
Have we really not had a set that did for dragons what Innistrad did for angels? Shards of Alara gave us a fair bit, although only two Legendaries versus three.

Not sure if this counts, but Champions of Kamigawa gave us a cycle of legends. Then there was Planar Chaos which gave us another cycle, and Legends, and Invasion... There are lots of cycles, but there hasn't really been a Dragon set to my knowledge.

Hall meant a dragon set in the same way that Avacyn was an angels and demons set; with those creatures at lower rarities.
Dragons have overwhelmingly been rare only creatures in most sets.
That being said, dragons are said to be the most popular creature type by a wide margin, so I'd say there's a snowballs chance in hell that there won't be a "dragons matter" set with them at common and the like at some point.
Maybe because Theros has turned out to be pretty linear (as in predictable) and non-controversial. It ain't newsworthy if "everyone" knows Greek.
We seek new things. That's why we're looking forward to this Mongseng/Khanar/Tarkir rumor. Not many know about mongolian/barbarian/feudal/clan-nish history.
