Eh. We've certainly seen worse. Like many, I'll test her out in some builds (probably BUG control, certainly Maze End Fog). Probably not a 4-of in any list I can imagine at the moment. Still, glad to have her if only so folks will stop asking for a UG planeswalker on Maro's blog haha.
This is just my opinion (and for that very reason could be completely wrong) but obviously Development had to have done some extensive testing to only have her start at 2 loyalty counters. Kiora must have been doing some serious work in the FFL, as it just seems like the kind of card that could have been at 3 or even 4 counters without an issue. The rest of the set has yet to be spoiled, so keep an eye out, as if decks start to rely more and more on one finisher (ie; AEtherling) then this kid will be absolutely bonkers.
When I first saw this I thought it was a prank from Wizards. I'm not very familiar with her character but, her being a merfolk, her being G/U seems a little off... It's obvious they made her Simic colors to pacify complaints about a lack of planeswalkers in those colors.
Not that I'm complaining, she seems really neat. Mini-pacify and card+extra land drop makes it seem like she'll be really good for control decks.
Also that art is amazing. Obviously a reference to Hokusai's Wave.
Against other midrange decks, she seems amazing. Being able to blank your opponent's best creature, plus potentially ramp is great. In a well built deck, you could potentially make it so only one of your opponent's creatures would be an effective attacker, and then you use her to shut it down. Plus, Polukranos becomes kind of sad, though you can always monstrous in response I guess. Against control, the ramp is pretty nice, but not that great. But she is bad vs aggro. I see her much more along the lines of a much tamer Tamiyo. Will be a monster in draft (kind of goes without saying; there are some exceptions, but this seems generally true of most planeswalkers).
Cool! Another RavnicaJace type planeswalker: protect me for a turn and you get some nice card advantage. Explore is worse than mini FoF, but still pretty good. Her plus ability is stalling much better than Jace's, though... I really like her, she's just designed so well.
Edit: RUG superfriends looks like a deck now.

Wizards can start putting booster packs inside dog poo and dog owners will still complain.

This card would do virtually nothing to Aetherling. Opponent would just exile and the +1 would be wasted.
Okay, I'm probably going to be crucified for saying this, but this is as close to Jace, the Mind Sculptor as we're ever getting. Play her T3 with Elvish Mystic, and in three turns, she literally wins you the game.
you mean if your opponent plays no answers to her, you'll win? Shocking.
She seems good against midrange and control, aggro/swarm decks/anything running red will destroy her fairly quickly since even with a +1 she dies to lightning strike. Basically, her value depends on whether her +1 can protect herself or not, I mean, explore isn't bad, but if you explore its incredibly likely kiora dies afterwards. Her Ult is meh and probably like most won't ever be relevant. Would love to be totally wrong and see her break standard in half somehow though.
Yeah, I like her. I think she is mostly sideboard material against control decks, but that's great news for the midrange decks she fits into. Also, damn she is beautiful, I can't wait to show this card to my girlfriend.
Seems pretty solid, but not game breaking. I can definitely see it being a CA engine in some sort of midrangy ramp deck where you have some actual creatures to provide blockers. I also think that the +1 ability is strong enough to actually allow a shot at the ultimate. With some ramp, you can start locking down a threat per turn starting on 3, which puts an actul clock on your control opponents. Overall seems like a very well balanced design. I do think it got bumped up to 4 mana because it would be too hard to balance if it got played on turn 2 with mana elf.
"Wall of Roots trades with Doran. Doran doesn't like Wall of Roots. You would think he might, as they are both trees. But Doran is a sociopathic tree. He and other trees don't get along – hell, he doesn't even get along with himself. Have you seen what happens when you cast two Dorans? Let me tell you, it isn't pretty." -Uri Peleg
Wow, depending on what the standard meta looks like, she may be just bonkers. The ability to + and neutralize a dude, if the format isn't "spam lots of dudes," could be quite potent. Also explore twice seems very good.
Man, after looking at her for a while, she seems absurdly good with a little bit of removal. I'm kinda sad though...with art that amazing I want her to be cheap

The problem isn't that she is 4 mana. The problem is that she only has 2 starting loyalty counters. She should have had 3.
On another note, it says target permanent not target creature. Maybe this means that we will get the full cycle of manlands in the next block/core set?

My guess is that is to blank mutavault, which conveniently would destroy her in one hit otherwise.

Good point. However, I can dream right? Just wondering, would the full set of manlands being in standard stop the fetchlands from being reprinted as they were both together in Zendikar already?
Dang, beat me to it! Definitely the same style. Could this be a tip off about the next Return set? Kanagawa... Kamigawa... ?
Fan of everything else.

She seems really good. She looks like Tamiyo 2.0
Her +1 protects her, her -1 is pure upside if you need it, and her ultimate will win the game. She's got all the makings of being very good.
It's not hard to see her being played on turn 4, then verdict/anger on turn 5 and then the game ends unless they have a non-creature answer.

Fisher did well and Kiora has a big booty! Lol
Anyway... -1 is amazing and +1 to ultimate seems viable ..it can win games. Nice build I say. With all the power simic has I would def try a build.
EDH/Commander: Karn silver golem (foiled), Narset combo, Maelstrom Wanderer random goodies, Nekusar grixis draw stuff, freyalise, Gissa Zombies!, marchesa obliterate,
Prosh just wins!,

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

Don't you dare get my hopes up like that.

Unless if it is never actually made like the Tatsumasa's token.
