I never said that you said that. I am sorry you misunderstood.
It is perfectly possible to play fast and midrange decks that are two colors using only the Shocklands as your dual as long as you build the deck accordingly. You have to top out your mana costs and build in a curve that reflects your needs better, and you will not be able to run as many creatures that have two of the same color mana in the cost, but it is quite viable. You may have to lean on mana dorks more than before, but that is not a big deal.
I am not sure how long you have been playing this game or how many Standard transitions you have been through, but you just need to learn how to build what you want in the new environment rather than throwing up your hands and continually complaining about it. We all need to vent from time to time when the game does things we do not agree with, but then you need to adapt and move on.
I play since 1994. I'm just giving my opinion. I think players deserve something better then just "to adapt". There is a lot of potential in the game
but it is being wasted. The game is made for players for having more fun. This is the objective and it's true that people like RTR cards. When the rotation comes everyone will understand this.

3 Azorius Guildgate
3 Mountain
I used Nassif's old 5-Color Control deck's manabase - and Patrick Chapin's analysis thereof - as an inspiration.
Guildgates, Temples, and shocklands are sufficient for any three-color deck that's okay with being able to hit its two-drop slot 71% of the time.
