Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
RG Aggro just got a shiny and very powerful new tool...
Just like I've been saying all along, from the looks of things RG aggro is going to be extremely dominant, at least with the current spoilers.
Hmmm, just when I was considering trying something like Purphuro with Master of Waves, a green creature is revealed that hoses blue control when it pops out of the sideboard. Can't even use Tidebinder Mage on the thing. Guess Young Pyromancer will be busy making chumps for it. All I can say is that I hope more people look at it and go 'Meh, Slime Molding'.
I actually like that uncommon for limited though. Every spell that targets it turns into a perma giant growth, but it's still totally fair in terms of vulnerability.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
I love that Hydra. Not because I think it's great (it's probably a sideboard card for U/X control match ups, as compared to most other green stuff it's not efficient enough to maindeck), but because it's such a blatant middle finger to blue. Mostly, I just like it when they see there's a problem and respond with aggression. "Everyone wants to play Detention Sphere? Well, how's about this?" Sure beats the days of countering Ravager Affinity with Imi Statue.
The Centaur seems like it'd fit into casual B/G infect builds, what with one Tainted Strike coming in for 7 poison and a Mutagenic Growth at the same time making it 12. Whether or not it's a top three pick in limited depends entirely on the playability of combat tricks. Just a Giant Growth variant alone would make leaving it unblocked a major question.

Does that about sum things up?
Woohoo, finally i find my great signature. you don't mind it, do you ?

Speaking of Hydra, after standard full of Sphinx's Revelations and Detention Spheres, it's nice to see some hate. Though I wouldn't mind seeing some amount of red hate. Between Boros Reckoner, Burning-Tree Emissary and whatever will be used instead of Hellrider, it would be nice to be able to sideboard against. Lifebane Zombie helps a lot against two of those, so I guess we have some answers, but they are rather accidental, and via the non-red part.
Sphinx's rev isn't even on the top 25 in standard on MTGAnalytics...
I think... or I hope that someone at wizards looked at the overwhelming presence of counters on worlds list over the years and just decided to put blue on equal footing somewhat with the other colors. So its an okay thing that they have to deal with "can't be countered" things.
I think its to keep people from being able to COMPLETELY play "Draw-go" in standard, its bad enough UWR / Flash won worlds, and delver I'm told was dominating before that.
Its just about right that conditional answers and unanswerable things exist for blue. Also:
The Hydra is finally a step in the right direction. I only wish they could make more of these. I feel like it should specify that blue mana can't be used to cast it, though.
Baaahhh. Be for real man.. What if they made a RED TIMELY REINFORMENTS that hated U.
If you have less life than an opponent, you gain 6 life. If you control fewer creatures than an opponent, put three 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield
If you have less cards than your opponent, draw 4 cards, if you control less land than an opponent search your library for 3 lands put them into play.
the horrible thing about this scenario is that I still have to tac on "CAN NOT BE COUNTERED" countering is one of the strongest effects in the game, proven time and time again.
Its pitiful, the complaints you guys dish out, but to make the format somewhat balanced for almost any other deck they have to make sure that:
14 counters 8 removal spells 8 draw card/deck manipulation X sweepers, and a 4 cards total kill condition isn't an amazing deck. Now even at that aetherling control dominated block last season. It be really nice if that wasn't the new standard, for like every OTHER decktype.
My comment about the Hydra: It's Scragnoth on steroids, and that thing got played a lot when mono blue permission decks were around.
5 mana for a 4/4 haste critter? Fine on the curve. That thing can't be countered or bounced? Even better.
Like somebody else said, poor Ivy Elemental, if that one got reprinted today, it would be a lowly uncommon, heh.
Hope so, that'd be very well received, even tho I'm sure the B one would be **** like always.

now the Hydra....
IT is comming.....

That's some bull****.
Don't give Wizards any ideas now

Both are reasonable, but I can't make out the Centaur Battlemaster's facial features.

Just wondering this myself...
All this absolute hatred of blue seems unwarranted to me. Is Counterspell going to make a return? Surely it wouldn't break modern.
Because there have just been so many good counters printed lately, and we didn't just get a "can't be countered" cycle last block.
