Hydra is excellent, glad to see some pushback against heavy countermagic.
Not sure if serious.
Pretty tired of WotC simultaneously lowering standards on what is considered a playable counterspell while shoving uncounterable spells down our throats. It is really pretty miserable.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
Kinda silly to say this when other colors have just as many hate cards. Though I'll give you that blue's hate cards aren't as good. But black's are better...Lifebane Zombie.

Don't forget:

Card that is rare and probably bad = "Junk rare, waste of a card"

A useful intermediary in comparing the new Fact or Fiction to the old one.
Imagine a player who knew nothing about magic, and once presented with the two piles just flipped a coin to see which one to give you. On average this mindless player would give you about half the value in your 5 top cards.
The actual pile you'd get from casting the new spell is on average worse than this random pile (since your opponent in actuality can choose the worse of the two piles you present him with). Conversely, the actual pile you'd get from casting Fact or Fiction is on average better than the random pile (since you can always choose the better of the two piles).

Let's be at least a little fair here. All those things are said by different people and different people think different things and like different things. There isn't some sort of hivemind going on here; you just can't please everyone all the time *shrug*

Exactly! This is a handy guide for evaluating all cards in the future.
as for the hydra: well they obviously wanted to give green another silver bullet (green bullet?) against blue. But against non-blue, it's unplayable main-deck unless some competitive monogreen deck really needs a haste fatty. An X/X with haste for XG just doesn't cut it. For this to be maindeck worthy, I would think U/x control would have to really be a force. Like the author of the article said, dies to doom blade, and I feel like doom blade is more relevant than countermagic right now. Am I crazy?
I'm pretty disappointed with the design. The just tacked on blue hate to the most basic of hydra forms (no cool head growing/regrowing action) and having haste but not trample on a monogreen hydra just feels off, flavor-wise. Fun art though!
Meh, I'm not concerned about the hydra. Gets chumped for days now that there's no Rancor and it still dies to either edict effects from UW and UB decks so there's no guarantee that it will even get in for one attack.

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
Well, I get to see another year of WG love. It is spilling all over the place. Like it wasn't bad enough with Resto-Angel w/ Swagtusk.
Maybe this Hydra will be bananas in BG.
It would be nice to see where white or green wasn't a corner stone in a competitive deck (I know Big Red was seeing a little love towards the end of Standard, so don't jump all over me for that)
No good card is ever printed at the right rarity... that's the corollary to my earlier statement.
Good and rare = "WotC greedy bastards"
Good and mythic = "WotC greedy bastards AND I'm quitting forever"
Good and uncommon = "Pushed"
Good and common = ... actually, no one complains about good cards that are commons.
I guess this means that MTGS wants all good cards to be common? But, if that happens... what will the other slots be full of?
Also: I think maybe there is a cycle of rare creatures with protection from an enemy color, just spread between rare and mythic. This hydra, master of waves, that dragon, still possible for a white rare with protection from black and a black rare with protection from green, right?

Woodlot Crawler, Tidebinder Mage...does blue really need so much protection vs. green?

The Centaur could be bonkers in limited though. permanent +3/+3 whenever it gets hit by your spell? Niceness.
