So... new Slivers now will only affect your own side of the board, and at least some of them are humanoids now instead of Sliver-shaped. The first change is undersandable, the second is... odd. Why completely change what the slivers look like at this point?
Edit: Blur Sliver looks more like an intermediate between the old style and Battle Sliver. Still not loving it. I guess they want them to now look a bit more "mainstream-accessible" for use in a core set?
I was really hoping they would not include the "you control" clause. Oh well... I guess this makes a better card, but it's just not as awesome.
Ditto that. Even if gameplaywise this way is better, it has two major failing;
Its utterly incongruent with the rest of slivers, and slivers being a parasitic mechanic it makes it a mess to play with both
Its less elegant
Then we've got humanoid slivers? I mean, I think some of this falls into the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category. Change for changes sake. And horribly understandable too, bringing back slivers just as they were would feel tired.
The "you control" clause is arguable, but the artistic direction is straight up awful, does anyone disagree with that? Humanoid was a terrible choice
I don't see anything that screams "fake", except the fact that this looks nothing like a sliver.
I know they've changed some iconic looks in the past (Boros angels lost their second pair of wings, Mirrodin Vedalken can now breathe air...), but I would be extremelyu surprised if they discarded the whole identity of the slivers, especially in a Core Set where they presumably would want reprints with old art.
So I'm highly doubtful of the authenticity.

Evil is boring. The universe is friendly. Life is on your side. Joy is your birthright. Cynicism is idiotic. Fear is a bad habit. Despair is lazy. In fact, all of creation wants you to succeed. Act as if the universe is a prodigious miracle created for your amusement and illumination. Assume that secret helpers are working behind the scenes to assist you in turning into the gorgeous masterpiece you were born to be. . . Life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.

Personally, I think it makes a lot of sense. Slivers are supposed to be the species of evolution and change and adaptation, yet they never figured out hands? Or anything beyond "meathooks"? There's still going to be the idea of the old identity there (blur sliver, for example, looks like it's got the meathooks still), but they've actually decided to show the adaptation in the art, and for that, I'm happy.
Arkham, the 1920's. Investigators battle horrors from beyond time and space, risking life and sanity while conspiracies of cultists and malign servitors seek gateways for their outer gods to return...
Soon, the stars will be right! Great Cthulhu shall rise!
Slivers are just so boring *yawn* Then again, the core set has been boring the last 2 times. They really should go back to doing it every 2 years.
At least they are now one-sided Slivers, so limited/sealed environments won't be so crazy nuts. Sliver v. Sliver can lead to a lot of math and crazy combats.

Slivers ALWAYS whip fans into a frenzy and drive sales up so putting them in a core set, which for the last several years seems to have been down, seems wise.
Dude. It is a figure of speech. Simmer down.
They're just freakin' obnoxious & OP. Always have been. The new templating is a bit better but makes the new ones kinda watered down. I guess that is an improvement.
They evolved legs! We're all gonna die!

Although the breaking of the reserve would make me VERY happy, slivers isn't the direction I'd like to see.
EDH is a CASUAL format. Get with the program, or GTFO.
Thank you wotc.
Sliver Queen is in the Reserved List though, why is there a pic of her?
Also I wish these looked like "real" slivers. Wtf is with the redesign?

Why are we getting M14 Previews when we should be getting Modern Masters Previews.
Really? Already complaining.
