What if he read:
Megantic (Insert new tribe name here) 5G
Creature (no type)
Creatures you control get +3/+3 and are Treefolk in addition to their other types.
3/3
Go around and do that to all the new ones too. Sentinel will make them into Constructs. Blur into Wolves, maybe.
I don't know, sounds a lot more fun to me.
second, they are uninspired not because they look like predators. the reasons are many:
- they are too much different from the old slivers
- they have weak design because they look like a mix of already existing creatures like sliths and phyrexian
- they don't even have a new identity, because sentinel sliver and blur sliver don't look like they come from the same specie
- megantic sliver is just a treefolk.
- So "different" now means "uninspired design"?... what strange world are you from?
- So bad design is taking elements from other designs and mixing them together to make something new... how is this bad design?
- This is because they are doing something different with the Slivers this time around, in that Slivers in the same color have a similar look but are different from color to color (that's the way I see it at least, and I'm sure we'll get confirmation for this when spoiler season proper starts up)
- Really? And here I thought people were complaining that he looks like Vorinclex. Does that mean Vorinclex looks like a treefolk? I never heard anybody complaining that his was lazy design. Honestly, he's got the armor plates, the stocky limbs, if you look closely you can see the tendrils (they're just really tiny because he's so massive), these are the markings of a green neo-Sliver.

Someday, I will own all of the dragons. All of them. 43/111, approximately 39% complete. Over a third done.
(calling it now; there will be a cycle of Legendary dual lands with Basic Land types in Theros block)
... AAAAAAAAND I was wrong
No one said "different" means "uninspired design". Please don't mischaracterize what other people say.
These Slivers have no identity. Every single meaning that was once associated with the word "Sliver" has been changed into an incoherent mess. They don't look like old Slivers. They don't look like each other. They don't look like anything but a crazy mishmash of random other creatures which the word "Sliver" has been slapped onto for some reason. If these cards were spoiled without their names and text boxes, no one would think they were Slivers. No one would even believe they're the same creature type. They look like random Phyrexian creatures.
Add to that the fact that how they work has been changed to further attack nostalgia, that we now supposedly have gorillas and humans and trees all sharing what's still called a "hive", and that most of them are just old Slivers reprinted as "new" because they now only affect your own Slivers... it's almost like Wizards is daring us to care less about the coherence of their own universe.
oh god, you are an idiot. first of all, muscle sliver is very different from the other slivers and is a little mistake. tell me that brood sliver looks like alien
second, they are uninspired not because they look like predators. the reasons are many:

ok so you're going to call me an idiot for liking the new slivers, opposed to you just going with the flow and hating for no reason. cool.
oh, now muscle sliver is a mistake? ohhh ok becuase you said so right?
and one last thing, yes, i am telling you brood sliver does look like an alien.
You can stop embrassing yourself now.
saw this posted on in a diffirent thread awhile ago, think it sums up all of the little whiny children in this thread.
Ironicly, this can be used on you for all your *****ing about the *****ing.
You don't like thier *****ing? Ok.
i woulden't have to counter-***** if there was no *****ing in the first place.
Seriously, most of you people feel some sense of entitlement for some reason.
Wizards could close its doors tomorrow and what would your opinions do? not a damn thing.
Its gonna be sickening to go into every new thread about slivers and instead of talking about how it'll effect formats, how it'll help the tribe in edh, how it will make older slivers less/more powerful. We will see the same "UHHH THEY LOOK STOOPID, ME NO LIKE"

Now this is a good arguement as opposed to what you have been doing, and I agree. I think this card will be a hit and miss, I don't see it bing a staple for sliver decks, but someone will use it so it will see play.
I think the *****ing though will get less and less as the spoiling goes on and people realize its not something they can fight anymore.
Providing there are not really stupid blue and black designs for slivers.
@jimmyrussles77:
Can we do without the insults? The only reason this upsets people is because Wizards has been successful in their goal of investing people in the fantasy universe behind their card game, and, then, instead of building upon that success, they've decided to take people's love for something they've created and replace it for no apparent reason with something that looks like they didn't really give much of a crap about it.
This isn't "oh, I don't like this one card they printed because it messes up my mill deck". This is "If you're going to mess with something we care about, can you at least do a good job?" People can share their opinions without being "whiny children". I find it ironic that someone who does nothing but use ad hominem attacks to insult people is complaining about a lack of content in the threads he posts in.

what i have been doing is getting people to realise, nobody cares, get over it.
It'll definatly be a swift finisher in sliver edh, with tokens and Psionic Sliver
And if you'd be inclined to first pick this in draft and go slivers, definatly a bomb.
Other then that, i don't think it'll be more then a 1 dollar bulk rare.

Excuse me, but when im called an idiot, i can respond in any way i like (within the rules) or even outside of them if i see fit.
And what about if they did the same thing, how many people would complain "oh geez, these again? you'd think they would do something diffirent by now"
Trust me, im a HUGE fan of the old design, MUCH more than the new ones. But the old ones are still there, they ain't going anythere, you can still reminisce. The new ones are a new look and a change, honestly its the best of both worlds.
I hate using this quote as much as most people hate seeing it, but it REALLY sums up this community.
"Wizards could put $100 bills into packs, and people would complain about how they are folded"
@jimmyrussles77:
That's the thing. These ARE the same old Slivers. That's why they had to make the art for them so drastically different. By sticking them in a Core Set, the keywords they have available to place on them are reduced, so they HAD to make the art and the "you control" clause different or they'd all be reprints. Wizards couldn't muster up the creativity to make them truly unique, so they just gave them a facelift. It's like a boring person who wears funny hats to get attention.
I'd actually like the Megantic Sliver as it's kind of interesting, if it didn't look like a Treefolk for no reason. I kind of liked symar's suggestions a few posts back that new Slivers grant a creature type to other Slivers in addition to an ability. It'd at least make the new Slivers make sense. They're basically Zerg, anyway, why not go all the way with them and make them share DNA with each other? It's not the best solution, but anything to add a little logic to this creative trainwreck would be nice.
EDIT: Rereading Symar's post, it looks like he also wanted them to be a totally different tribe. That'd definitely make more sense than this, too.

See, thats just it. You call it a "trainwreck" i mean, c'mon isint that a TAD overreacting. Some people are making it sound like this is the biggest travesty since.... innistrads duel cards.
Look how fast people got over that.
Thats all im saying really, out the gate people are going spastic, for no real reason. In a months time, nobody will even care anymore.
Its just gonna be a REALLY long month.
Let's face it. Magic the Gathering doesn't have a lot of unique fantasy elements going for it outside of planes and planeswalkers. Taking one of the most beloved races of creatures in all of Magic lore, which also happens to be one of the few rather unique races of creatures in all of Magic lore, and completely remaking it to the point where it loses all semblance of its identity and half of the creature type's most devoted fans feel personally insulted by the decision? That sounds like a creative trainwreck to me.
I'm not saying it's going to damage the future of Magic the Gathering. I'm not sure how much it's even going to hurt sales in the short term. But it's a mysterious combination of strings that keeps people attached to a costly and time-consuming hobby, and this is definitely a deep enough wound to cut some of those strings for a certain percentage of people. It's one of those things that you remember when you're on the fence about "Do I really wanna spend $300 to update my deck and keep playing Standard?" It makes people think that Wizards doesn't really care about Magic, so why should they? That definitely seems like something worth drawing attention to in my book.
It's already too late to fight it, the cards are already made and are likely sitting in a warehouse somewhere or in the process of being printed.
No way in hell does WotC delay M14 to go back and change the artwork of every sliver. If you think any amount of *****ing will cause that to happen you are living in a freaking dream world. They could get a serious petition signed by 1 million magic players and a threatened boycott from those 1 million, and they still would likely release m14 as is and then promise to change slivers back in the future.
i woulden't have to counter-***** if there was no *****ing in the first place.
Seriously, most of you people feel some sense of entitlement for some reason.
I'm so sick of "entitlement!" being the default counterargument for people who just don't like that not everyone agrees with them. Stop it. That's a stupid argument with no merit.
Wizards could close its doors tomorrow and what would your opinions do? not a damn thing.
This is even worse. What the heck does that have to do with anything? Are you implying that some people on the internet not liking the Sliver redesign is going to force them to shut down? Do you even know what you're talking about?
what i have been doing is getting people to realise, nobody cares, get over it.
If this thread is any indication, then quite a lot of people care. And wizards should too, since we are the customers, we don't have to buy the packs. Sure we could just stop doing so, but I prefer telling them why I am not happy with a certain change. After all, we aren't saying that there should be a change in the game at the expense of other players like advocates for land destruction or counterspells do. But the target group of sliver cards is, well, sliver fans. These sliver-typed creatures fail at pleasing the vast majority of sliver fans very bad. There are a few people who do like/don't mind the new slivers, but those people are not the target group, because they would have been just as happy if these would have been sliths/fungus/mutants/<new creature type>.
Seriously, everyone saying that these slivers aren't so bad or are cool in their own way: What would've been the harm of simply making this a new creature type? None at all, that's what.
I mean, I don't mind the visual design in itself, but these are as much slivers as they are goblins, snakes or whippoorwills.
This is even worse. What the heck does that have to do with anything? Are you implying that some people on the internet not liking the Sliver redesign is going to force them to shut down? Do you even know what you're talking about?
reading is tech kiddo.
Not what i was implying in the least.
Im saying wizards can do what they want, and like it or not, your (others) opinions donsen't change a damn thing.
You quoting a sentence out of context dosen't make you look smarter, just fyi
Slivers can be blind banana slugs with metal limbs. Don't like it? to bad.
Get over it.

I never said they could fight it. But your outrage at something I didn't say sustains me.
I wasn't disagreeing with you I was just adding to your comment. Just because I quoted your post does not mean it was a disagreement.
BTW:
I am not upset at all, I find those that post on this forum and think that WotC is intently reading every post and determining the future of magic on those posts are ridiculous. You would likely get more WotC employee eyes on the official forums then here. If I was really upset over something WotC did I would just contact some friends I know that work there :). The new Slivers don't bother me much personally...
muscle sliver is a mistake because is the only sliver without all these elements: "that eyeless, sharp head shape, that single claw, and that snaking body". so basing your argoment on it while other 75 slivers have a different look is very silly
and i see no resemblances between alien and brood sliver. maybe... they are both orange and have a tail? oh they are eyeless also... 3 "big" similarities, a lot, indeed. to bad the sliver has no legs, only one claw and a beak-shaped head. very minor differences...
i hate them because they took away a good, unique and original aspect of magic that i loved with a very bad reason. if i'm going with flow it's because the flow has similar feelings and wotc made a bad move.
If your going to be that arrogant and DENY that slivers have nothing in common with the aliens from the alien franchise... i have nothing else to say to you.
