If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
I don't mind playing against hyperaggro that draws god hand and kills me turn 3. I didn't have enough answers, my fault.
I don't mind playing against draw-go that counters each of my spells. I didn't put enough pressure, my fault.
I don't mind seeing seeing Kiki-Jiki flood the floor with berjillion Resto angel tokens for the win. I didn't prepare enough to stop the combo.
I hate however waiting for approximately an eternity to see if my opponent can pull something out of the hat to win/give them some edge. Eggs was bad for format, just like the Top would be.
Good riddance.
This.
The reasons why Eggs is banned while the others are not.

I don't get why some of you guys hate the banning of Second Sunrise. Why would you want a deck like that to flourish? It makes the game unfun as hell. Seriously, you guys perplex me. I personally want to hear what you have to say.

Because if some cards were unbanned instead, Eggs would suck and not be a thing any more. That's basically what people are getting at.
Okay, so you unban second sunrise and bitterblossom. Two unfun decks dominate the format. Congrats, you fixed modern. Have a trophy.
Was Eggs even dominating before the bans? Bitterblossom would not dominate the format, people seem to think it would be as good as it was in standard when it most likely won't be.

I'll admit I'm talking out of my ass, I've never seen a match with bitterblossom. But Eggs has a consistent win record, doesn't it?
I find it surprising that people are actually surprised by the two choices. I think its quite obvious that something was going to be done to eggs. It wasn't a matter of 'if', it was a matter of 'what'.
Regrowth coming off the list isn't that surprising either. It's been consistently near the top of the 'mostly likely to get unbanned' list for awhile.
I know a lot of people were hoping for bitterblossom to come back, but all because a trillion people ask for it, doesn't mean it's going to happen.
Nope, but the time issue was legitimate. I do however feel like they should have banned Pyrite Spellbomb instead. It would have allowed for the less consistant yet faster versions to be played, and would have allowed Eggs players to still play a version of the deck that already exists.
However, Eggs was a deck before Faith's Reward was a thing. It just forces us to go back to the "4 sunrise effects" versions I guess. Really, I don't think this solves the issue they were trying to get at, but I do think it will take a while before people figure out how to make it work.
Good thing we don't have a second Second Sunrise in the format to fill in those deck slots. That would just be terrible. What would be even worse is one that breaks the symmetry on Ghost Quarter and Tectonic Edge. That would just be the pits.

I've played against some truly annoying combo decks, but at least they have the decency to kill you in 3-4 turns. You can scoop, say "well that was no fun", and go do something else. Getting stuck there for several iterations while Eggs goes off looks beyond tedious.
To the combo players who say this is unfair, allow me to postulate that combo is inherently unfun. You're essentially playing solitaire, especially if the opponent doesn't have blue. Maybe you don't see it because of the narcissistic streak required to play third turn combo kills, but no one likes to play against that repeatedly. It's interesting once or twice, and the tension between "can I kill you before you get your combo off" can be very interesting, but just watching the same degenerate combo go off over and over again is mind numbingly boring.
I can appreciate why you want your consistent combo to be allowed in every format imaginable, but it's boring and tedious. Think of it as a challenge, every time you break the format with a new degenerate combo, a piece gets banned and you have to find a new one. Isn't that the whole joy of combo deck building? And please, try and find one that wins while the other person can't leave for 10 minutes and not miss a thing.

I think you really hit the nail on the head here. Pyrite Spellbomb would have been the perfect piece to ban. KCI and Grapeshot versions of the deck are much faster.
Eggs will still be there just not as often being that Faith's Reward is still there. but it does cost 1 more than Second sunrise

Yea, not going to happen.
Also, I love combo as much as the next guy, but playing against Eggs was the epitome of everything unfun about Magic the Gathering. If you're going to combo, combo, but don't waste 45 minutes of my time to go get 8 lands and draw 12 cards and not do anything of value with it.

Look at JTMS, ignore the fact you may own them or what have you.
Tell me that card isn't quite possibly one of the most powerful cards ever printed in the Modern environment. There's a reason they banned it and a reason it isn't being reprinted, and making it legal again won't fix that.
I love JTMS as much as the next guy and I'd love more opportunities to use mine, but it is NOT a healthy card for this format.
(Also holy crap $150? Glad I got mine when they were cheaper =D)

Modern needs a breath of life. The decks suck and lack variety. Unbanning JTMS and Bitterblossom evens the trinity between control, aggro, and combo, which is what makes everyone love Legacy.
It's strong, and that is what control needs in Modern.

I would rather see something new enter the format personally than bring back a card that is the pinnacle of Modern power. I'm waiting till Theros to see what could potentially be coming Modern's way since its the second year of "Modern in mind" design.

JTMS was never legal in Modern to be the pinnacle of anything.

Not what I meant (sorry poor wording) I'm saying he's probably the most powerful card in Modern magic as opposed to the format (I would've said Magic, but there are cards way more powerful than him in the backreaches)

I can see why second sunrise and eggs was banned the deck is a f'ing nightmare to play against and very confusing and time consuming. I can see why they banned the card, its also unfun to play against(I never did but in looking at the eggs deck thread i am glad i did not i would have flipped the table over and cried. JTMS is never coming to modern never ever ever. Hes an unhealthy beast thats a nightmare and he's 150 dollars. That alone will make jace a modern no show. But hey if you want to play him i hear you can still play him legacy and EDH.

WOTC really losing their touch.
Lotus Bloom was the issue, not the combo card(s). Lotus bloom was tutor-able, and ensures you get all the mana in the world to cantrip your balls off.
The fact you could tutor it into play was broken, some pro player was saying this specifically as to why the deck can connect its combo so easily.
If they are looking to nerf a deck, they should nerf it, not Neuter it completely.
Thanks to Rivenor of Miraculous Recovery Signatures!

A. It's $150 now.
B. It gives them a valid reason to reprint JTMS.
