The new one and Armadillo Cloak are the same card.
Not really. Just like the old card spirit link you could play armadillo cloak on an opponents creature and effectively make them unable to damage you unless they killed you.
Ok, am I missing something about the gorgon? I would be expecting people to complain about her, but so far nothing but compliments. Am I missing some constructed use other than my intended use in casual?
She's pretty clearly a limited card, and a good one at that. Not much to complain about.

no they arent, armadillo cloak could be used on opponents creatures to make you gain life if that creature dealt damage, to basically negate their attacks
in addition, armadillo cloak since it isnt technically lifelink can stack with multiple instances, while lifelink doesnt stack

Armadillo cloak is better because the lifelink is an ability, not a keyword so it stacks. For example if you had 2 cloaks on a 2/2 making it a 6/6 you would gain 12 life.

I don't care about 75% or more of cards for constructed. I just want to draft a Simic/Golgari deck with +1/+1 counter synergy and big, efficient creatures. Also, I really like Gorgons.
Yes yes Armadillo cloak is slightly better but I don't give a crank. Bant Enchant is my deck and I just found out Christmas is coming early. LOLOLOLOL awesome.
Good previews today. Aetherling seems like a really good finisher and difficult to answer. Unflinching courage is very similar to Armadillo cloak. Korozda Gorgon will go straight into my Damia, Sage of Stone deck.
Armadillo Cloak using the stack is both good and bad, meaning this card is neither better nor worse, just different slightly.
There are times when you don't want your lifelink to hit the stack, because you die before you gain the life, with lifelink as a state based effect, you live through a lethal attack because you gain the life at the same time you lose life. Obviously, if you can take advantage of the stacking lifelink, Cloak is better, but just remember it has its downsides.
If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
I'm surprised to see so few people talking about Aetherling.
I mean, normally the complaint about every expensive or even semi-expensive creatures is "dies to removal." This guy doesn't. It really doesn't. That's impressive in a creature that can easily do 20+ damage in four hits.
How many people need to point out that Armadillo Cloak doesn't use lifelink? My goodness.
Anyway, Ætherling is nifty, but I'd rather play it that play against it. It's going to be annoying to deal with.
For those saying the new Armadillo cloak will be played in bogles: This is incorrect. That spell costs entirely too much for the Bogles deck. It *probably* will not be played in that deck.
is it possible to remove aethering (assuming open blue mana)? I like this card a lot. can become a 8?1 unblockable, and then reset for 1. also can wall in necessary. only issue I have is that 6cc, but control doesnt really mind that.
Agreed, and have gotten shafted *big time*
Thankfully, and are 'aight.
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.

Armadillo Cloak can be used as a pseudo-removal spell.
(although the decks that armadillo cloak is good in probably wouldn't want to do that)
You appear to be in agreement with him...?
Also, Armadillo Cloak can be attached to an opponent's creature, preventing it from dealing damage to you.

They are not. Armadillo Cloak is a better one of the two.

It's pretty decent in limited I should expect.

Not Armadillo Cloak. Two cloaks stack lifegain. Two of this doesn't. It's good, but also significantly less potent than Cloak.
