Goods= delievered. We get the best use of Scavenge yet, Heartbeat of Spring on a massive, undercosted beatstick, sweet callbacks to Bob and Glimpse, and a swiss army knife for Izzet.
Zhur-taa anchient is awsome! 7/5 for 5? Sign me up!
Although mana ramp when you have 5 lands isn't really much help. I mean, what are you ramping into at that point? Angel of serenity?
Varolz is really good too, although I liked the 4chan version better. But I'll deffinitely play him in a g/b aggro or midrange deck.
I really like breaking and entering. This is what we needed to help make mill a thing in block. Now we just need an enchantment with consuming abberation's text on it and we're good to go.
Blood scriver is great, one of the things that black had problems with was card advantage. It seems to be getting better, but I'm not sure you want to lose a life potentially every turn once you've emptied your hand.
Turn and Burn is pretty bad probably the worst card they have revealed so far.

If MTG is a part of your life, the formats are like relationships:
Standard/Block = The on-again, off-again holiday fling
Modern/Vintage/Legacy = Stable, homely. A ***** after absence/misreading
Limited/Sealed = Heart breaking free spirit
Commander/Cube = Agreeable, needy and expensive
Pauper/Peasant = Sweet, kind, practical, but shy and boring
I like Blood Scrivener, works really well for aggro based decks so as not to loose gas. In Legacy having no cards in hand then activate SDT to draw 2 cards so as to mitigate the card loss from putting SDT on top of the Library.
I was wondering how this will work in multiples?
Have 2 Blood Scrivener in play, no cards in hand, trigger both scrivener upon drawing, do I get 2, 3 or 4 cards?
i think, you put the second trigger on the stack in response to the first one and they both resolve

the ancient: I think its fun that you get an actual guy instead of a boring enchantment, that way you at least some kind of creature or thing before your opponents get the chance to sink all of their mana. I'm not a big fan of the card though but I know people will really like this guy.
Valroz is awesome. I don't know if he is competitive, but he can be frustrating for you opponent trying to kill your creatures. some of you guys don't like his regeneration ability, that's there so that you can sac one of your fatties that your opponents are exiling so you can turn them into counters. he is potentially nutso.
Breaking // Entering: a poor mans glimpse with some other stuff on it. which without the other half is fine by me. its a very expensive and somewhat worse torrent of souls too. I like it for EDH.
Blood scriviner: I feel like hes gonna be one of those really good cards in the future but i'm not sure, he's not obviously stupid good like Baneslayer or thragtusk but.... either way he is very exciting and has good tribal relevance as well as great art!
Turn//Burn : my favorite of the bunch! not only is this one of those spells that I feel perfectly captures the spirit of the Izzet so well but it is also incredibly versatile removal! I want four copies already!

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.

You'd get 3 cards.
The first Scrivener's replacement effect replaces your normal draw and makes you draw two cards, then the second Scrivener's replacement effect replaces the first draw, for a total of 3 cards.
If Entering side requires you to target a creature in a graveyard, you have to select the target while casting the spell, therefore before Breaking mills them for 8.
i think, you put the second trigger on the stack in response to the first one and they both resolve
yeah or they both triggerdo at the same time 4 card for (2) 4 life
or
no its a replacement effect soo its like i said
EDIT: yeah you draw 3 cards and lose 2 life on normal draw
If Entering side requires you to target a creature in a graveyard, you have to select the target while casting the spell, therefore before Breaking mills them for 8.
It also has the upside of allowing you to cheat any triggered anti-graveyard creatures like emrakul, the aeons torn, but won't help against the replacement effect ones like blightsteel colossus. I think
Funny how Golgari champion works best not with own guild, but with Gruul - and, correspondingly, gruul work better with him. Bloodrush Scorchwalker, eat Scorchwalker...

Turn 4 (or 3 because ramp): Yeva
Turn 5 (or 4): Drop a Land, pass.
Enemy Turn 5 (or 4): Ancient
Turn 6 (or 5): Drop a Land, tap out, Clan Defiance for 10?

Scrivner looks like a better version of Bob. In a format where life matters and matches tend to be who topdecks best. Scrivner's going to be a powerhouse in modern.

Is it just me or are those "guild combinations" that we're going to get at the prerelease are actually shards?
We had a Bant splitcard, now we have a Grixis splitcard.
The odd thing is from a standard standpoint Blood Scrivener is better then bob most of the time. The average CMC for a standard deck greater 2. This guy can go into any deck but you only get the draw when your out of gas.

The zombie wizard appears strong but will need to see some serious play testing to see if its worth a spot.
I agree... I'd love to have that in a W/B shadow deck.
I don't see why not..

I'd wager my left leg you're right about Emmara making that token. Regardless whether we're right or not, I need whatever card makes that token.
But even if Sign in blood is an instant, you wont be able to play and draw from the Blood Scrivener = =

That Valroz is SNAP broken as entire Dredge! Given time enough. He will be banned in Modern.
How the heck his current design less powerful then fake? This Valroz sculpts out a Modern...
yeah or they both

Very happy about rest of them as well.
It says 'if you would draw a card', so it replaces the first draw from Sign in Blood with a double draw.
Turn 4 (or 3 because ramp): Yeva

Enemy Turn 5 (or 4): Ancient

Just, you know, as an idea.
If you target, you do it before any effects. Thus, when you mill the eight, nothing in there is a choice for you as you already picked a card.
Don't forget about the sign in blood life.
