Just saw this via Reddit: Death's Shadow just spiked up in price. Apparently, I missed this interaction in Valroz's scavenge. I wondered if I underestimated Valroz more than I thought.

Personally I like our new troll friend. Funny thing, him and LOL troll play well together. Discard a creature to power LOL troll, then scavange it to power your LOLZ troll and by their powers combined, they trollz.

well done. I'm gonna call my new golgari deck this!
is tribal trolls possible? I can't think of any other ones in standard at least.
I can already tell Varolz the scar striped is gonna be exploited with stuff like phyrexian dreadnought and other creatures that have low CC's offset by in game effects.
even in modern you have
scythe tiger - 1 for 3
hunted horror - 2 for 7
vexing devil - 1 for 4
sleeper agent - 1 for 3
treacherous pit-dweller - 2 for 4
and there are probably plenty of others that im not thinking of.
Man I really love the Ancient. Not only is he epic looking with freaking waterfalls coming off his back, but he's huge for 5, and has a relevant ability.
Turn 4, Zhur-Taa, Turn 5 Borborygmos. I really feel like Wizards could be giving us a deck with all these fatties. You could say he competes with Thragtusk, but just play Thragtusk too. The format's probably too fast, and they all die to Supreme Verdict, but it's a cool idea. Throw in Gruul Ragebeast!
Varolz? Trundle is that you?
Varolz is actually really really good. Sure there is Gravecrawler who can always keep coming back as food for this troll but I can see this guy snowballing hard into a strong victory if not dealt with properly.

Failed Opression Stories:
Legend of Korra
Return to Ravnica
(Not that the stories or character are inhernetly bad, but that they failed to further delve into the topic. Like Gateless/Non-Benders feeling opressed by the Guilds/Benders that sought a revolution but it became less of importance according to the story.)

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Wow, Blood Scrivener is almost as powerful as Dark Confidant.Just build a deck based around stuff that empties your hand (i.e. discard, creatures), and he's Dark Confidant 5-8.Chase rare potential for sure.

Plus, he makes Standard cards in my existing Golgari deck even better. Dreg Mangler becomes an even better 3 mana drop, or I can always discard him to feed my Lotleth and then scavenge for 3 instead of 5 on top of it. The only thing i'd struggle with is what to take out to put 3 or 4 Varolz's in....
I'm making some really fancy embellished canvas prints of Blood Scrivener. Bringing one to the Channel Fireball Gamecenter pre-release event on the 28th.
Im still kind pretty new to magic but isnt simic manipulator and turn//burn a pretty nasty combo? Cost the same as act of treason and only 1 counter from simic manipulator which a fog bank can put on him.

I am so building Junk Trolz for standard. Scavenging 2 power critters for 1 mana is not to be sneezed at:
