They get one token, because Pillar is a sorcery. But I see your point.
They actually get 0, because if Pillar kills something it doesn't "die". Die means goes to the graveyard from the battlefield, so if it's Pillar'd it gets exiled instead, meaning you never get that token.
Also, hopefully with Putrefy we might also get the other 3 mana cards, like Electrolyze, Lightning Helix, Mortify, etc. etc.
I mean...I don't know if Electrolyze is still good enough to see play, but still, it'd be kind of nice.
That voice could get out of control way too fast. Thats one absurdly resilient bear. You burn it on their swing with nothing but a mana dork next to it, and bam it becomes 3/3 tokens that grow. They say "We're giving a tool to push the metagame", what they really mean is "we're power creeping exponentially now, and obsoleting everything that came before with our absurdities"
any magic player with a mind would just cast the burn on their own turn then wait til you swing with it and give you an extra token
it hates on opponents using spells on your turn, but its not as broken as it first looks
If your opponent kills voice on your turn, you get 2 2/2 's.
And dont get me started on puetrfy. C'mon Wizards, give us its counter part and I will be "Me Gusta"ing to the bank.
Actually, wouldn't Pillar kill it outright without them getting a token, because you cast it on your turn and the Voice doesn't technically die?
Yeah, I was thinking more 'putrefy it' on their turn and get 2 tokens.
At any rate, making it mythic is just a slap to anyone who ever wants to play tournaments. Its clearly pushed and designed intentionally to flood the metagame, which means 4-of in a whole crapton of decks, and of course its mythic

^ Beat me to it. Pillar of Flame seems like a must play now.
They -really- don't want people playing interactive strategies any time soon... I was hoping that DGM would give control a hand, but it looks like the continued dominance of non-interactive decks is assured.
Cool Puterfy is back...with some banging art and Voice of Resurgence is pretty freaking neat. It is a vanilla 2/2 that when it dies or when an opponent plays a spell during your turn, it makes a token. That seems really good to me lol.

So with Voice of Resurgence, any instant removal on it during your turn would leave behind two tokens correct? With Thalia, Dryad Militant, Sigarda, and now Voice of Resurgence, control's going to just have so much fun against G/W decks.
But also, yay for Putrefy coming back! BUG is becoming a lot more fun with the wider removal suite.

How is Voice of Resurgence mythic? This should be a rare at most. Why would you ever put a hoser at mythic? I think WotC is trying to milk the newbies who don't like playing against counter decks with this one... I mean it might break limited at rare but that would be the only reason to justify the rarity.
EDH is like French fries: some people like waffle cut, crinkle cut, or plain old straight cut, and while there's slight flavor difference and personal preference, at the end of the day they're still fries.

Mat'Selesnya shows what hatebear is. Strange, I thought this token is from Emmara, but it could be both.
Yeah. Not only would Pillar of Flame not cause it to technically die, it simply doesn't; the Voice is exiled and, at no point, dies.
Voice of Resurgence is absolutely bonkers. Could it be too cheap, too good?
Council of the Absolute is a unique card. Interesting? Mmh, I don't know about that. Good? Again, I don't know.
