Seeing the artwork only makes me sad that Ron Spencer no longer really does art for Magic because it isn't homogenized, digitally-created artwork. Forget Rebecca Guay or Terese Nielsen, Ron Spencer blows them both away when it comes to MTG art.
Quote for truth. A friend of mine collects all Ron Spencer art in foil. I think Ron and Phil Foglio are the best artists in my opinion for Magic.
This card is one of my favorite and most played in EDH. I wouldn't mind owning this bad boy.
I saw one on ebay. Leaving the ridiculous price (750$ lolol) aside, the creator of the auction wrote that he pulled it out of a booster. Am I missing something? How does that work?

Beautiful! I love the old border for artifacts, and it looks so slick for Crucible's art. Want.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.

Quoted for the mother****ing truth. All this digital stuff is driving me insane, sure it looks good. But better than handpainted pieces of artwork on a canvas? No comparison. It's like comparing a ferrari to a kia.
I absolutely love this promo. I approve. Any oldborder judge foils generally look really great, but this one takes the cake. Absolutely stunning. Glad they retained the original artwork, as CoW's original art is one of the best pieces of art in the game IMO.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Oh my gawd. Judge promos are too hot lately. Old frame Hierarch and now this. Old artifact borders were way better and its foil! This is going to be a hot collector's item forever.

I'm glad these things are usually cheaper than the originals-
I def. want one of these even though I don't really use them much.
Judge foils are pretty much never cheaper than the original. (Barring P3K. That's for entirely different reasons.) This one will settle at 2-3x the price of a regular one easily. (Just look at all of the other staple judge foils.)

If your deck is 60 cards then you're playing with the best possible odds. 61? Probably won't alter your odds too much but we all know that 96% pure meth won't cut it next to Heisenberg's 99%.

It really depends on the cards. The judge foil Swords are cheaper than the pack foil Swords, for example.

He's talking foils, I think this will be 50ish, maybe in the 60s going from how popular crucible is in edh but the fact it really is only borderline playable in most formats.
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."

Weirdly, standard has been BAD since JTMS was banned, it hasn't been fun, nor healthy since.
I think that was a "plant" since how does a random card from an unreleased set end up in a lone booster pack.

I hear you. I much rather see them print old staples in the new frame as promos than the other way around.
I miss the old days when even FNM promos were old favorites printed with the new frame, but still retained the original art
