I find it weird that people care more about Modern Masters than NEW SETS and NEW CARDS!
You realize Modern Masters will be 100% reprints, making it possibly the least interesting set spoiler-wise since, I don't know, 10th edition?
Not to mention it's a bald-faced cash grab by WOTC, maybe the most callous one in Magic history. It enables Modern, sure, but what it really does is grab money from the secondary market and drop the value of collections.
You'd rather see some new art than a NEW PLANE? I can't understand it.
Getting info on boosters full of staples that are hard to find/out of reach/expensive for a popular eternal format, or information without any spoilers for a set that may or may not suck that we can't play with for 6 months and won't get spoilers for 5 months? What's not to understand?
And cash grab? Really? SCG buying up the fetches and charging through the roof for them...that's a cash grab. Commander's Arsenal? That's a cash grab. THis is just giving the people what they want. If they had any sense within them, they'd do the same for Legacy.

Wow...
You do realize that some of the card costs associated with Modern are artificial, right? Like any reason why a simple discard spell should cost as much as Force of Will? No, there isn't.
I'm more excited by Modern Masters BECAUSE it's a limited time product, and I'd like to be able to get a box or two before it goes off the market. Who cares about the next block when it's 6-7 months away and most of it will only be limited/standard playable... Oh sorry, DGM is the next set, we got 2 spoilers and found out we're getting a promo PLAINS at the prerelease... a PLAINS... It should have been an Island!!!
Sorry, but I care more about Legacy/Modern than I do Standard, considering I get to play more modern/legacy per year than standard...

Maybe it's the difference between playing competitively/collecting and not. Modern Masters adds nothing to any format, whereas the new block adds 550+ new cards to the game I love and spend time following. If I were a collector, I'd be more financially invested and therefore more interested in Modern. But I'm not, so I'm just interested in new cards.
From an artistic/creative standpoint, I'm always interested in where we're going next, what world will be developed, what they will try to express through that world, etc.
Different people get different things from this game, I suppose, and to me, new sets/locations/cards are interesting, even if the information is vague.

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.

I don't even play standard and I care less about modern masters than I do about the next set and more importantly the next bloody plane.
Hell, I'm the one in the LGS that pushes modern and I don't give a damn that we didn't get anything about MM.

You must be in the minority then because most local shops are heavily slanted towards standard/limited.
Modern is slowly gaining in popularity but Legacy is a slowly dying format. I like Legacy quite a bit but these days no one I know that plays MTG has a Legacy deck.

Jeez...
Maybe it's just better that they didn't really give us anything worth wasting all those people's time standing in line for. Last year at PAX, they gave us vague info about Commander's Arsenal, got everyone all whipped into a frenzy, and then disappointed everyone with it on so many levels.
This year, they gave us set names, a card, a spoiler confirmation, and a middle finger. Perhaps it's for the best.

Except Modern Masters is 2 months away, and all we know is
Limited Print run - (Makes it seem really limited now with the "Won't be around long" comment)
Tarmogoyf
Foil in every booster...
Seriously, I'd like to know more about the print size, maybe another card or two that's in the set... SOMETHING...
Hell, they could have also elaborated on this years Commander product too...
What did they tell you about Theros that you wouldn't have learned in an "announcing" arcana article? It's going to be the arcana this monday, i guarantee it.
This was their shot to give us something from Modern Masters, and all we got was an ominous "Won't be around long" ...You can clearly see why i'm disappointed...

Actually, not in a minority, The store I frequent Modern/Legacy are actually more popular than Standard/Limited. They have greater turnouts fofr Modern and Legacy than Either Standard or Draft... I'm part of a very large group of people that is foaming at the mouth for more info on MM...

Honestly, people keep bringing up how people had to stand in line for this. Obviously, they love magic or they wouldn't have bothered, they would have found something with a higher priority for them.
The fact that they went to the panel means that they HAD to get something out of it. If they were only going for talk about Modern Masters then it's really their fault for not looking at the entire panel or deciding they didn't have better things to do.
WotC doesn't owe anybody just because they attended the panel.
(wasn't specifically directed at you, I was just making a general statement.)

Right I mentioned the minority of stores basically. I realize some stores love older formats there is probably one store on the planet where everyone plays vintage 24/7 or something.
That one store doesn't mean Vintage is super popular though and you can find a game of vintage anywhere. Like I said most stores are not built on those formats otherwise WotC would put far more focus into them. If Limited and Standard ever became extremely unpopular OVERALL WotC would be forced to change business strategies.
There is talk about Teysa's title being a mistake. She is referred to as the "Great Envoy of Orzhov" on cards like Mystic Genesis or Immortal Servitude, so the "Envy" is probably a mistake on the presentation.

But it's not just one store...
I've been to areas surrounding and the consensus is the same.
More people around my state have Modern/Legacy decks, when you mention standard they look at you like you're stupid... (Seriously, I've gotten that response)
Point is, MM is almost 2 months away and we still know virtually NOTHING about it... This was the GOLDEN opportunity to say something about it, and instead, an ominous warning about it not being around forever... It's really shady to me...

I'm kind of confused as to why everyone's upset about the lack of Modern Masters news. Are we all really so upset that we didn't get official confirmation that Bob, Thoughtseize, and Clique are in? We all know that they're going to be in the set, official confirmation or not. The set comes out in two months, and we have an expansion to deal with in just one month. Why aren't we be more excited about the final set of this block and a completely new plane than a set full of reprints?

So where is this video that they recorded of the Panel? Am I just blind and can't find it? I looked on DailyMTG and their Youtube account and nothing as of now :\

I don't really see it as a matter of 'owing'. I mean, any company that is going to take their stuff to a trade show wants to get people riled and excited about the product. Spoil little bits of everything. Fall TV shows do it. Video games do it. Why does WOTC have to be purposely vague and cryptic?
Regardless of what you went there for, Standard, artwork, info, commander, modern...you walked away mostly empty-handed.

It'll probably be posted to YouTube and linked to on the mothership sometime in the following week.

I don't know... if I had been there, I feel like I would have been satisfied with what we had. Then again, I prize information a lot higher than what cards are coming out.
Then again, if I had been there, I would have gone for more than just the Magic panel too. There's tons of stuff to do. Go, have fun doing something else.
I was expecting Teysa to be, at this point in time, a granny with a jacked up leg yet we have the COMPLETE opposite here. Interesting. The Simic Champion is hard to figure out. I guess it's a male Elf? It's hard to tell. Emmera's face looks a lot like it was traced from a photo or something but that could just be the style of the art or the cellphone photo of the slide being funky.

Ruric Thar makes me throw up in my mouth, I'm just glad most of his time in standard won't be with Cavern of Souls so maybe we'll play counterspells again.
Even if he isn't a maindeck card, he's a gigantic hosing for a deck like Esper.
I'm expecting a hardcore return of the Divinity Counter. I will be immensely bothered if they don't utilize it.
Because playability is the only thing that matters in Magic?
Because most people play eternal formats? Last I heard, Limited was the most popular format.
Even following that logic, the 1% playables in the new block will still be NEW, not reprinted.
