Nope. It becomes a copy of that land and gains the copy land ability. If you change the land it is current copying, it is no longer a copy of whatever other land it was.
Slaughterhorn may have applications outside Limited. I'm sure Modern Infect would love an uncounterable pump spell for Glistener Elf and Inkmoth Nexus...

I think the land is good. Not just EDH-good, but in general good. It offers versatility. Sure it'll be three lands tapped for it to clone, but having an extra Cavern of Souls that can change into a shockland on the battlefield would be interesting.
I believe Cavern of Souls is not a good target for this land.

wouldnt do anything if you copied cavern of souls except for tap for colorless mana, since you never named a creature type when thespians stage entered the battlefield, making the uncounterable mana of any color ability completely useless and not able to be activated

Unfortunately your new Cavern of Souls won't have come into play naming any creature type and can't do anything cool.

Evil is even, truth is an odd number, and death is a full stop.
Worst case scenario, if I really need the colored mana I spend 2 to copy a swamp in my monoblack deck. Best case scenario, I copy a Cabal Coffers, a Cavern of Souls (just in case Strip Mine rears its ugly head), or Volrath's Stronghold.
What reasoning would you have to have to not run it in an EDH deck?
EDIT: Above me has pointed out that Cavern doesn't work. Shame. I think Vesuva tops this, then, because getting Balthor out uncountered is a huge deal for the deck.
id rather tutor a land from my deckvthan play this garbage. people will learn why this land is so terrible
For you everything is garbage until pops up on a GP top 8 deck or it is "0 Sorcery - can't be countered you win the game" and you would complain it's not a instant
Because it's very smart to cut lands and replace it with ramp cards.
Slaughterhorn is pretty sexy, I really like what I'm seeing of gruul for limited, but I have the feeling that learning to play the gruul limited deck is going to be super skill testing with masters just tearing it up and otherwise decent players getting boned because they misused their potential dudes. In fact, I'm pretty excited for triple GTC limited in general, just wish there was more stuff to impact standard right out of the gates...

Um, copying Stronghold might not be a good idea also.
Brilliant land. It might not ever seen constructed play in any format for all we know, with how banned cloudpost is. But its a bucket of fun, great flavor and design, and it could easily pop up in good decklists all round and even be broken. Its one of those cards that sits comfortably in the zone of neither being pushed nor sad and weak, not original but not trite.
Cute interactions with the Innistrad/M13 neo-duals, too.
You can pick an appropriate land across the table for the Stage to morph into before you drop the neo-dual in untapped.
The first time i read the card, i read it as "Until end of Turn". and wrote it off as a meager utility land with very limited uses. But forever? WOW. This card has applications in every format. If there is a format with any broken lands, this guy fits right in. And one of those obligatory lands in EDH as well.

And I've finally found the card I will obsessively collect, as a professional actor and amateur magic player who has always loved copy effects. New favorite card.
You and me both. This alongside Glaring Spotlight makes two stage-related top-down designs!
Thespian's Stage is amazing! I love these urban-flavor top-down cards more than most, and this one has a special place in my heart thanks to my love of the original Ravnica novel.
I'm a huge fan too!
Ravnica Block (especially Gatecrash) has really hit it out of the park top-down-wise, with cards like Murder Investigation and Gridlock I really get the urban feel of this set. Badly executed top down design (I'm looking at you werewolves) can be hokey and underpowered, but Thespian's Stage is an example of how top-down cards can be both powerful, interesting and thematic.

Thespian's Stage has no place in standard. A land drop that you have to pay 2 to actually get colored mana out of it? and that mana has to already be in play? Farseek is a much better 2 mana investment that will actually get you ahead in the game.
Because it become a copy of any land on your deck, or can't you see something good in have 8 shocks?
And it ETB untaped, so unless you are desperated for colored mana it won't delay your land drops and you can change it when it's convenient.
I'm willing to have it sigged that you're wrong.

This gives a second option to copy Cabal Coffers in EDH. There is nothing terrible about that. This land has all kinds of uses.

In all reality, I freaking LOVE the flavor behind it, and the story used to spoil it. I really appreciate it a lot.
As prompted by certain threads on the forums, I'm now certain that the planeswalkers in DGM will be.... Ral Zarek, Morsel of the Firemind.

Thespian's Stage, on the other hand... holy crap. Auto-include in many EDH decks?
