Wow, this is great news for the EDH/Commander Crowd. A mini-set of good reprints from older sets? Yes please! It'll be good to get a lot of older cards updated to the new blackbordered modern frame.
Plus, you never know...they might even sneak in a few good legacy cards too. e.g. Baleful Strix etc...

While I think the Commander's Arsenal is kinda cool since it gives them a chance to reprint old cards to make eternal formats more affordable. Especially for super expensive old uncommons like Force of Will and wastelands.
Now, I'm against yearly new commander product for a slightly different reason. They'll use this as an opportunity to make new cards that don't fit in the current rotation set up, so we might get new Cascade, Exalted and flashback cards.
The problem of course is that Wizards doesn't test eternal formats, so cards that would have a significant impact on the format (Scavanging Ooze, Shardless Agent) will cause stupid fluxuations in the market.

I actually like the "untestedness," as it creates some truely unique decks. Then again, I also am a fan of Ian Malcolm (of Jurassic Park) and Chaos Theory, so my chaotic mentality may have something to do with why I like "untestedness" in cards.

I see this as a positive actually. Sure there is risk, but it's an opportunity for them to introduce new cards that could impact eternal formats without having to worry about those cards having to exist in Standard for two years first.
The thing is, they don't really care about the balance of eternal formats. At least not as much as the others. So while it may be an issue to you, it's not to them. So it really doesn't matter.
Case: Scavenging Ooze: Card goes for $30 which is roughly the cost of the commander deck it came in assuming it went for the normal price. This puts everyone in an awkward spot. Eternal players, and EDH players looking for a specific card, want to get their pieces in the most efficient way possible. Since the card already is worth as much as the deck, might as well buy the deck for free value (Foil Generals, other chase cards). Retailers want a fair price, so they bring the price up for the deck since it's started to be worth more.
This screws over the more casual crowd who spend money only on direct product and not singles, since the deck they wanted is suddenly waaaaaaay more expensive than it should be.

That would be really awesome, but I'm afraid they won't do it. Wizards seems to really hate reprinting expensive cards in any meaningful way, especially in non-randomized product. There have been plenty of Commander products and duel decks before, but they haven't seen a reprint in any relevant quantity.
Force of will and wasteland are not edh staples. Yes, they're nice to have, but they're not OMG must be in every deck cards. They'd reprint strip mine and hinder way before either of these.

I'd rather see those, anyway. Better in EDH and won't make the product impossible to get / $100+ at every store. I wouldn't anticipate any cards worth more than $15 being reprinted here, with the possible exception of Scavenging Ooze.
Looking forward to this set, and love hearing that there's gonna be EDH product every year now, as it has pretty much become the only format I play/care about save the occasional prerelease or draft.
Have to say, I'm not sure what exactly I am hoping to see reprinted. Especially since some of the cards I'd want to be reprinted aren't necessarily cards my wallet wants to see reprinted.
Have to say, I'm not sure what exactly I am hoping to see reprinted. Especially since some of the cards I'd want to be reprinted aren't necessarily cards my wallet wants to see reprinted.
Wow, borderline paradox.
I'm really hoping to see all those random pieces that never got to see the light of day in other fitting products, such as Phyrexian Tower, and Phyrexian Altar. The former may be in FTV:R, the latter should have been in DD: PvsC. Sans this Commander product, it'll certainly never see a reprint. Ditto Phyrexian Walker.
Wow, three Phyrexian cards... that wasn't intentional, just a co-incidence. There are tons of other old goodies that deserve reprinting.
^yeah, I mean like..there's still quite a few cards I either do not own that I'd like to get cheap and easy, or ones I would more copies of cheap and easy, but after finally breaking down to get some of the more expensive format staples (FoW, Maze, Bribery, etc.), my wallet would be just a touch sad to see them come so easily after the fact.
I can never remember what is actually on that list. I'm beginning to think it exists to make me look dumb asking for the impossible.
This is a fascinating product because it may presumably have the same prestige as a premium deck (as it is taking its place) so it has room for some amazing reprints. I get the impression that they want to rub our bellies with commander stuff, and I'm fine with that.

Feel free to tell me yours!
1. Market research (us) has shown we will buy it (I will- I play with gold bordered cards.)
2. It includes sleeves. Maybe the backs are marked too?
3. If wizards cooked this up last minute, then they may want to move cautiously.
4. I could also see a mixture of cards like Ooze, flusterstorm, command tower etc in normal version, and silver or gold bordered or otherwise marked cards with reprints of you name it.

Check out my blog, an EDH / Commander Odyssey- 27 (and hopefully soon to be 32) decklists of EDH / Commander decks built from my collection. Comments needed and appreciated.
If any are on the Reserved list, then sorry, I might have overlooked them on the list.... (list is way to long to remember...)
Phyrexian Negator was reprinted under the stipulation that it'd be the last card on the Reserved List to be reprinted.
And just to aid you, the cards remaining in the quote box are the cards you listed that are on the Reserved List. And the entire Reserved List can be seen here.
I'd love a reprint of Æther Vial, maybe one day I'll purchase the FTV printing of it.
I understand your dislike of foil,
but please try to understand that several of us *really* like foils,
and cards are *much* less likely to see reprints in foil
(see Commander, Archenemy, Planechase, etc)

I realize there are places that do not have the acess to outlets taht we do in the U.S., but here and in any urban area of the states that is not always the case. As long as the big-box stores have product on the shelf (and they get a ton) then smart retailers should never raise the MSRP of products that are mass-marketed. It took months for commander products to leave the shelves in general retail outlets, so only recently have FLGS in town started upping their prices of their remaining product.
As long as Wizards continues to make these products in the quantities that they have then most people should be able to get as much as they want at msrp.

This. Well said too because it's very difficult to fight off swarms of people buying out one specific deck/box for a specific card. I hope they print a ton of arsenals for november and that they distribute the value of decks better. Commander last summer was baller but dealing with people buying out boxes for ooze or fluster was a joke. Then those specific cards were so overpriced. Ruined the market for people who wanted a product to have fun with more than anything else.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.

The reserve list contains every rare card released between Alpha and the Mirage Block that wasn't reprinted in any set (Core sets, Chronicles, Boxed sets like Beatdown, etc), Additionally, some number of rare cards from the Tempest and Urza's Block were added to the reserve list, but not all of them.
Sorry, doesn't make me any less annoyed with bulk foil products.

This should be the case, but it isn't always. I know my LGS in the DC area was raising the price of the most popular Commander decks while they were still, in theory, available in Target/Wal-mart, just because you couldn't find them. You could fork over $10 extra dollars to the LGS, or you could go driving around looking for Targets that might have them, only to find shelf after shelf cleared out of the "good" Commander decks.
Even right now they have Night of the Ninja and Chaos Reigns priced over MSRP, and the nearest Targets and Wal-marts are sold out of those. But when I was in Chicago, I walked into a Target and a Wal-mart literally across the street from my LGS and found those decks at $20, and the LGS was charging the same. Some areas are just more cut-throat than others.
Plus, you never know...they might even sneak in a few good legacy cards too. e.g. Baleful Strix etc...
