Izzet Charm is obviously great, but that Dreg Mangler is pretty sexy too. 3/3 Haste for 3 is perfectly serviceable in an aggressive deck, the potential "flashback" pump after death is just gravy.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.
That's not the same guy from that playmat. This one is actually Ral. You can see the multiple streaks in his hair, and the tattoos on his forearms. Not to mention that weird face mask like thing just below his chin.
Wow, every one of those cards looks decent. The charm looks disgusting, especially with Delver out there. The Goblin is stupid at common.
The Overload mechanic seems cool, but good lord is it wordy for such a simple effect.
Also, say what you want about the guildmage, but I think it's fantastic. It may as well read "if you try to kill one of my other creatures, you'll regret it".
Woo hoo, lots of goodies here! Although why they went way overboard with Izzy vs Gol is a bit weird. But ANYWAY.
So I'm intrigued to know what the other Guildmages will do... And although I know they can't reuse the name Golgari Guildmage, I wonder who or what Korozda is.... Strong card, nevertheless. The second ability can be bonkers if we have enough fatpants.
Izzet Charm looks pretty nice indeed.
The Electromancer is rather bonkers.... okay, instant/sorcery only, but 2cc? And common?
Street Spasm looks decent. Good if your opponent is getting away with making tokens, and this at uncommon makes it a bit more accessible. As for Overload itself, nice ability, especially in this card where it's one-sided
Dreg Mangler is really nice. 3cc 3/3 haste is ok for multicolor, but when Scavenged... ouch.
looting on a spell is card disadvantage. again, it's fine, it's not great.
it's straight up card selection, maybe even pseudo CA with Snapcaster. it already does the job of three different cards, so it's automatically winning on that front and at instant speed it's approaching the nut territory.

Yes its an overcoasted spell pierce, shock or faithless looting but the thing that makes it incredible is the fact you get to choose which one you want it to be.

If you're gonna come at the King, you'd best not miss.
The Izzet Charm is just pure value. All the abilities are relevant and it could care less about Cavern of Souls since it counters noncreature spells and can deal 2 damage in a pinch to a creature you really don't want sticking around.
And if you're running low on gas? Just loot.
Drawing cards at instant speed is always good and as people have said before... Snapcaster is pretty nuts with this.
And just like that, Sulfur Falls go out of stock on SCG.
Izzet Charm looks way too good when combined with Snapcaster Mage. I have a feeling that we're going to be in for a miserable post-rotation Standard especially when Bonfire of the Damned will be insanely splashable with shocklands.
All I can say is "HOLY ****" to most of the cards revealed so far. It looks like they are pushing the "constructed playable" angle, because the original Ravnica was one of the best constructed formats. Until Storm popped up.

Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
Charm will see play in every format. Every single one. Including vintage. It is that good.
Ha... Hahaha... HAHAHAHAHAHA!
To be serious, it might see Legacy play. Might. Standard will probably try to use this as filler for when a lot of Snapcaster's tools are rotated. But Vintage play, please...
So many custom sets I've made need to be changed now that Overload is now a mechanic. That's the kind of thing the Izzet should be doing, IMO.

I think Modern Splinter Twin will have a major hard on for it.
it will obviously see play. these types of cards have always been good. the versatility of them being the main reason. even if it were the spell pierce/shock it would be good. Esper Charm, normally you only used the draw/discard sides, but the fact that you could kill bitterblossoms, O-Rings, and leyline of sanctity (that prevented you from cruel ultimatum...ing) wasn an added bonus. late game being able to dig or throw away chaff is gonna be great. this card is much better being flashbacked due it actually cycling instead of losing a card in the process.

Spoken like somebody who thinks that the barrier to entry for Vintage playability is the same as the barrier to entry for Standard playability, only higher.
Vintage-playable cards need qualitatively different effects than typical standard-playable cards. It's not simply a matter of degree. The thing about Izzet Charm is that it's hitting on Vintage-relevant effects on at least two out of three of those modes.
I don't think that a 2-mana counter that can also double as a way to dig for your missing combo piece AEOT is at all out of the question for Vintage. Now, I'm not saying that it will make the cut. But it's not laughable at all to suggest that it might.

you got everyone on the Spell Pierce and Shock part, but sorry, instant speed Looting is worth an extra blue and is explosive as ****.
e: by the way, I think that 3/3 haste guy just made BG Aggro a thing.

The Charm is rather ridculous in that Deck Considering there is also an Isochron Scepter in there.

Spell Pierce is just better in Vintage as the other two modes aren't amazing but the one extra on colour mana is a huge difference.
You seem to underestimate how much of a bonus that versatility actually is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
