I will never understand what is so exciting about the old frames. yes, they are nostalgic but come on... wizards should keep brining old cards to the new frame and not the other way around.
Many people including myself regard the new frames as the worst decision WotC has made in the last 15 years.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
in my oppinion, they should stick to one card frame - the new one, which I think was one of the best decisions they ever made, and keep reprinting old cards with the updated template. there's a full article out there on MTG's website dating back to 2002-2003 I think, explaining exactly what was wrong with the old frames and the logic behind the need to replace them. I really dislike having old framed cards & new framed ones in my hand or on the battlefield... but what can I do, they're still (and always will be) part of magic
I find the printing of new cards in old frames to be a badge of honor. Lots of high power level cards in are old frames, and Noble Hierarch seems like a perfect fit.
The new frame is boring, but the old frame had major issues .. like [for me personally] having a harder time reading the names of some of the cards. My girlfriend actually likes the future-shifted card frame.

I prefer the old frame but I'm over the change, I'm ok with mixing new/old. I also like the future site style. For me the biggest mistake was the change in the artifact color. They could have used the new metallic color for equipment and left other artifacts alone.
The Hierarch was a good choice, I wish they would do this more often. Maybe a good idea for another FTV style box set.
Its a simple pattern - new frame cards goto the old frame. Old frame cards goto the new frame. That way, lovers of both frames get access to a version of the card in the frame they like.
Personally, I much prefer old frame foils. They just pop a lot more than new frame ones (especially in red, my foil mana echoes is one of the foiliest foils I've ever seen).
This is exactly my reason too. You can tell from across the room what someone is playing when it's an old foil. The new foils actually seem to obscure the cards more.
Still love the old frame. Try to get the old frame shooting star foil versions of every card I get
This is definitely a matter of personal taste,
but I *vastly* prefer Modern border foils.
I've been playing since Legends,
and I've no shortage of nostalgia for the old frames,
but I'm not fond of how the old foils only foil out the frames,
whereas Modern foils actually use the foil to enhance the artwork.
WotC seems to agree, as these "throwback" promos foil out the artwork like Modern cards do.
I do dig that star, though. It would be cool if they still did that.

I feel like you hit the nail on the head as far as my view on card frames and foils goes. Your post best exemplifies my feelings on the foiling process of new border vs. old border cards.
And WOW - talk about some incredible promos. I am very happy to see powerful Legacy cards being printed, and given to those who deserve them.

Sure I have the hallowed And loved it but emeria looks terrible.
Then, petition to judge local events, then bigger events, participate in judge conferences, riose to L2, L2+, invest in the judging community, spend your week-ends judging etc.
I don't believe that just passing an L1 exam wil give you judge gifts.
Re: frame, I concur that the future sight frames are the neatest. Hope it'll be their next move. AND FULL FRAME ART ON ALL EXPANSIONS PLEASE

They did a poll near the end of time spiral block on which frames people liked the most and the the future sight ones won if I remember correctly. Besides the mana cost location I like it too I guess. It was nice to reassure myself that I didn't dislike modern frames just for being different at least. Apparently I just plain don't like them for reasons involving taste in aesthetics, and that's how it is. I've made peace with it for the most part. It did kind of become the straw that broke the backs of the people I played magic with back then. Or maybe they grew up and I didn't. Or I did and they didn't.

I'm a judge, but unfortunately I don't have the ability to judge the high level events where you get given judge foils, as those are usually overseas. I'm usually judging prereleases etc. I really want one of those Hierarchs though...
