I dunno, as I said before, I agree with Syphon that the word "epic" is overused (and in fact consistently misused), but I think that this actually counts as an "epic" spell. I can just see such a massive and unpredictable piece of magic like this one being a major point in an epic, or even a catalyst for the epic itself. But maybe that's just my Izzet fanboy getting in the way of my literature geek
No, I agree. It's a mythic rare, has decent alliteration, and is essentially the Izzet's "goal spell," as I would like to refer to them, (Sphinx's Revelation and Rakdos's Return, for example, both sound fairly epic to me) and as such I believe it was aptly named. Yes, I concur wholeheartedly with the notion that the word "epic" is overused and misused today, (usually by complete morons who think they're automatically "cool" for knowing a handful of internet memes) however I consider this specific usage to be appropriate.
The trick to reverberating or more importantly increasing vengeanceing E.E. is to do it before the spell resolves. Ancestral visions would be way too good here but cards like vision skeins might help fill the gap.
As a (slightly nutty) example let's say it's turn 3 and you went turn 1 Land Turn 2 end step vision skeins. Following the draw you're on 2 lands with 9 cards in hand
Desperate Ritual x2
Seething Song x1
Epic Experiment x1
Increasing Vengeance x1
Ritual x1
Land x1
Extra Cards x2
Your line of play here is Land ->
Ritual (U open) ->
Song ->
Splice Desp ->
cast Desperate Ritual (you now have 8r 1u)
cast Epic at X=5 (x=4 will suffice if you have PiF, x=3 should be the minimum so you can cast Song off the reveal) and response cast Vengeance targeting Epic Experiment
Reveal 5 (3+ minimum, 4+ ideal) and hit ritual, manamorphose, 3x land -> cast both ritual and morphose making 3RR and drawing a card then flashback Vengeance targeting the original Epic still on the stack
Once your looking at 10 cards you can cast for free (Maybe even another Vengeance or a Past in Flames!) it should be pretty hard to lose. Unless someone counters your vengeance
Since so many people seem to be having trouble even though it's been explained I'll go ahead and give the full rules for EE.
Overload: Overload like EE's free cast clause are both alternative mana costs. Only ONE alternative mana cost can be applied to a card so you can't Overload a card cast with EE.
Copy cards: Reverberate can target EE but since EE leaves the stack before Reverberate resolves it'll be countered due to no valid target. You CAN'T use Reverberate or similar cards to get free EE's. You CAN however use Pyromancers Ascension that has 2 counters to get another one.
Everything goes to the graveyard regardless of whether you cast it or not.
That said I can guarantee decks with this'll show up in Modern. Just an idea for a list:
4x Manamorphose
4x EE
4x Pyretic Ritual
4x Seething Song
4x Past in Flames
2x Desperate Ritual
4x Pact of Negation
4x Serum Visions
4x Sleight of Hand
4x Peer Through The Depths
2x Empty The Warrens
Aahha!!! So that's why they banned it in modern!!!
I figured that would be the case, I just thought maybe since it didnt hit the GY yet there is a possiblility.
Its an odd situation; its not in your hand, the spells no longer on the stack, and it has not touched your GY... clearly it must be in purgatory!

Also, an epic is a story like the Odyssey. It's also an adjective. I like the name.

It's a rough idea but it seems viable enough.
