Since I want Jace and Chandra to have a kid together...I'm going Izzet for prerelease. (Yes, I'm aware chandra has nothing to do with Ravnica, I just think these two would make the best offspring.)
I just looked back a couple pages to look over the new Guildmaster list and saw that someone named Aurelia is the Boros guildmaster now... Seems like WotC is gonna screw us out of getting a Feather card. Again.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Hallowed Fountain, Temple Garden and Watery Grave.
Temple Garden and Watery Grave look OK, but there's no fountain in that first one... just waterfalls. It's also not really a Chancery, so we can rule out Azorius Chancery. The towers all look a bit too stubby to be called "spires", so I guess Prahv, Spires of Order is out too.
Did they mention specifics about the Prerelease cards, other than there are 5 of them and they can be used in the Prerelease tournaments? I'm probably way off base, but that seems like a decent reason to give out shocklands as promos...gets people to come to the Prerelease, they are easily used in everyone's deck without worrying about one guild being way more powerful than the other, and in puts plenty more out there in circulation.
What, precisely, are the letters from your guild leaders? do they contain strategy/spoilers/flavor or what? An additional question is: why did they have that amazing artwork that was previewed, leaving all of us speculating about Shock lands, and then have them be BASIC LANDS. I mean really.... why couldn't they have those artwork for shoucks. why? WHY? WHY????
[/end rant]

If that's your "casual," what on earth is required for "formal," a butler in livery shuffling the decks whilst a pianist plays Brahms in front of a tapestry?
God, and I thought I was basically done with this game, and they go ahead and pull this crap that makes me want to play.
And waiting for the second set for Boros will be torture!
EDIT: New Boros symbol isnt nearly as cool as old Boros symbol. Gah.

This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.
Seems to make sense that we'd see Ral Zarek (obvious Izzet trappings) and Kiora Atua (lol surprise merfolk) as the unannounced PW's, BUT... with Jace 4.0 confirmed, I dunno, it seems kinda... odd that 3/4 would be blue. Then again, we don't know how many will be in [sinker].
While of course I want more details of the storyline, being a greedy greedy greedy little Vorthos, this does do a lot to satisfy a lot of the crap that's been speculated on since Hook was confirmed to be on Ravnicaconfirmed not to be on Ravnica confirmed to be on Ravnica. Specifically, reestablishment of guilds, appearance of Merfolk, and practically (if not officially) the shocklands. I mean, I'll concede there's still no hard evidence but it's certainly less and less likely they'll be absent with each peep we get from Wizards.
Looks like I may be buying my first boosters since... gosh, Shadowmoor?
Rosewater mentioned that they've learned that people use the art to ID cards (on his tumblr), and I'd actually be really surprised to see them not re-use it here.
IIRC they said that when they reprint cards in expert expansions they never use the same art.
That was my first thought when he started showing the cityscapes art.
We can hope
...
Oh I so hope you're right. I would never use another basic land again if RtR and GTC used panoramic full-art cityscapes. Screw Zendikar, Unglued, and Unhinged. These would be the pinnacle of Basic Land-ness.

2/3/? Planeswalkers to be exact if I heard correctly.
You know, I took another look at the promo art from the RtR announcement, then compared it to the promo for Gatecrash, and I'm starting to wonder if Jace might be monocolour after all.
While the Gatecrash promo clearly shows Gideon with a Boros symbol on his belt and standing along with the new Boros guild leader, Jace in the RtR promo is standing with Niv-Mizzet, but doesn't have an Izzet symbol visible anywhere on him. Does this maybe indicate that he isn't fully aligned with any one guild?

Actually, I could see this. You really don't want the prerelease card to be some super powerful Mythic, like Comet Storm, because then the prerelease will just be "Well he drew his "insert crazy card here" before I drew mine so I lost.

You know, I was just about to say this, but I was going to say that I can see the symbol on his belt!
And it wouldn't make much sense for the only 2 confirmed planeswalkers to be standing behind the leaders of 2 guilds and for 1 of them to be colour aligned and the other not.

Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for the night.
Set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
There has never been a land that enters the battlefield untapped unconditionally and taps for two colors unconditionally. That would be strictly better than a basic land

Being aligned with a Guild doesn't mean you will be multicolored.
Sweet, thanks!
*Fanboys* Man, it's good to see the non-blurry version of that picture. I love it. I KNEW Gideon would come back for the Boros, I just knew it.

A shame replicate isn't coming back:(
With what we know about the character, that makes sense.

Perhaps it goes to a new Uncommon cycle?
I'm gonna say that those lands are exactly the lands that everyone expects to be on the set:
Forest
Swamp
On DeTora's extra land drop on PT:GTC
They're the basics. They previewed 5 of them, and the "red" one is almost certainly a mountain.

No, originally Rosewater said 3 in the first set, but then Forsythe corrected him that it's 2/2/x.
