I agree. The image may be blurry, but I can still distinctly see UBBR in Bolas's mana cost, and that his image is the same as on the Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker card. I believe they will be printing Bolas's only walker card in M13.
I would be increadibly surprised if he were in the core set. I can see him as posterboy for DOTP but not a core set.
As a 1-of it seems like it would jack up the slot another pertinent spell could take. If he were part of a Cycle or something like that it seems like a bit too much flavor for core to handle.

To be honest the fact that the art is being reused is the closest thing to a guarantee that it's the same planeswalker from Shards of Alara. Players just tend to associate art with cards, and mixing and matching the same art to different cards would just be a disaster from a marketing standpoint, especially on such a high profile card.
I don't care about Nicol Bolas much, but I certainly hope this means we're going to see more multicolor cards in the core set. That's something that's needed to happen for awhile now. Funny, I'm more excited about a core set than Avacyn at this point.

I feel this more or less 100% confirms Bolas for M13. We have this whole "OHNO IT JUST MEANS DP13" all the time, but then it ends up being the coreset too, this shouldn't be any different. That said: I think it's fine as the ONLY multicolor card in the coreset. It'll be cool if it's right alongside my other assumption for coreset PWs (being last years three new ones + Lili 3.0 and Ajani 3.0)

Also I think this is probably an indicator that instead of a returning mechanic (ala scry, bloodthirst), we'll be getting multicolor. I don't see them both adding multicolor in a core set and bringing back a new mechanic, and I think it would just be silly to put Bolas as the only multicolor.

Adding Vindicate to Snapcaster Mage, Lingering Souls and Sorin would all be pretty scary in an esper control deck. Seems bad.
Multicolour cards arnt that difficult for new players to understand. But as said before the mana in draft/sealed would be pretty terrible.

Hi guys. I haven't read the whole thread, so can someone please sum-up for me:
Is there an argument for Bolas in M13 or is this just the commercial for the Dual of the PW's 2013? I mean Bolas was in the M12 trailer as well and there we didn't see him.
Well, I'll be damned. Multicolor cards in a core set.
My guess is that Nicol Bolas is the sixth planeswalker in the set (not saying there can't be more than that, just that I'd imagine we'd have a cycle of monocolored ones followed by any number of others). More over, it's possible that Nicol Bolas may be the only three-color card in the set. As a mythic rare, he's allowed to stand alone and be all multicolored like that without forcing the rest of the set to follow his lead.
The rest of the multicolor cards in the set will likely be two-colored. I expect there to be a strong emphasis on allied colors working together, giving players the best of both worlds. The new multicolor cards will stress the differences between color pairs, and the ways in which they can align with each other. For example, a few cards with keyword pairs, or with a single ability that reflects each color's identity, would be a perfect fit.
As for whether or not there will be enemy colors showing up on the same cards, I have no idea. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

8 mana in 3 colors seems fine to destroy two permanents at Sorcery speed.
