If the core set has multiple multicolor cards that leads me to believe two things: uncommon/common land/manarock cycle, and standard is headed for a multicolor plane this fall. I don't even need to say the name, but I will: ravnica?
Last thing we heard was that Hook block was confirmed not to be a return to Ravnica. There's still a possibility it could be Welcome to Wedgeland, though! (Wedge colour shards, please?)
I would speculate these are [mythic] slots. The 6th being bolas is very interesting. There's always room for adding new mythic cards, but I am with your line of thought that it's probably tians/PW'ers.
Also, bolas as the lone multi-color card would be weird. Could we get other goodies reprinted? Assuming this situation is legit, I'm tossing my hat out for Vindicate reprint -- as it's straightforward AND one of bolas's abilities.
I can't imagine Bolas casting Vindicate simply because he's not part white. (Since the original Nicol Bolas card is also purely Grixis-coloured, I doubt Bolas really feels like dabbling in white or green.) He'll destroy noncreature permanents and gain control of creatures, yes, but not cast the spell Vindicate.
We have already seen that Sorin is more likely to cast Vindicate, though.
Why not? It's not on the reserve list, and it's hardly overpowered (it's just extremely solid). Maelstrom Pulse is almost equally as powerful as Vindicate as it trades the ability to hit lands with the ability to destroy multiples.
I dont know so much about that but including Bolas with the other 5 makes a lot of sense. That way new players (however much of their customer base that is for the core sets) see the 5 "good" planeswalkers and the one major "villain" planeswalker in the current storyline (whatever that may be).
Definitely this.
My first thought on multicolour is that there won't be any others, which will make Bolas stick out even more. Second thought is that if Bolas has 'associated cards' (in the vein of Liliana's Caress, Ajani's Mantra etc) then those might be the other multicolour cards, in Bolas's colours or a combination, (eg U/B, B/R, and a UBR), one such card at each rarity.
So we'll see four multicolour cards in M13, one at each rarity. Probably they will also print a tip card explaining multicolour. This too would be good since tip cards in expert sets deal with set mechanics, not basic rules, but the basic multicolour rules have never needed to be explained in a core set before, it's always been a gap.

Oblivion Ring is the closest thing that Standard will ever see to a Vindicate reprint. That card is too good(because it's a spell and not a guy) by today's standards.
Seeing a multi-colored PW reprinted in the Core set is interesting, but it's hard to see Standard being slowed down enough for Bolas to ever be playable.

3 cost LD is something that wizards doesn't do. Instead, they give you 4 cost LD that does something else that isn't very useful.
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?

Wizards will never again print a card that blows up lands for 3 mana unlessit has a major drawback. This card does not only have no drawbacks, it has the ability to blow up ANYTHING. Just an example T1 Bop, T2 Vindicate,T3Vindicate/another LD=

Rise/Scars/New Phyrexia had only 1 multicolored card and Worldwake/Besieged had 2. There's zero reason to believe a lone multicolored card would be that weird. We often have a lone indestructible card, as well.

Maelstrom Pulse only got the nonland clause because destroying multiple lands was bad. They even considered printing it, but didn't want it to own monocolor. Three mana land destruction isn't the enemy. They just don't want a land destruction deck. It's not like one would be white/black, though.
Oh, and there will be no tip card. They were discontinued for double sided ads.
As for the Bolas themed common/rare, though, I see no reason they'd need to be gold. Other than monocolored planeswalkers, their related cards are rarely the same colors. Karn even got featured on cards of lots of colors he's not and Ajani got a green card.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
I want this to be true more than I have ever wanted any magic rumor to be true. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker is my favorite card, and I yearn to spend yet another standard season forcing him into decks where he doesn't belong.
I love Nicol Bolas, but I think it's probably for DotP 2013, as that's the exact logo for it. Assuming he's in the set, though, I think this means that the "returning mechanic" will be Multicolor, which I also think means the next set isn't a Multicolor block.
WotC is very interested in playing around with the design space of "Almost Vindicate". If you need more evidence, just look at the last 3 blocks. We've gotten "almost vindicates" in nearly every one. Maelstrom Pulse, Bramblecrush, Beast Within, O-Ring, etc. Despite Vindicate's power level, it's a very fair card made more fair by it's casting cost. It's hardly more than a fringe card in legacy, and it would likely hold the same niche in Modern.

Do you not see the "2013 Core Set" label right there on the picture?
This picture is also styled in the same way of the preview pic from M12, which showed the 5 walkers from M12 in the same style as this one does.

Can someone remind me where Bolas left off in the in the story line? Usually the core set previews in some way what is going on with the next block. I would think they'd try to get bolas back in everyone's mind if they are about to mesh the Zendikar storyline with NPH
I'm still skeptical about it. Trust me, I want it to be true, I'd love to have him return, being his slave and all. And I never saw the M12 one, so nope, didn't know that.
EDIT: He was fiddling around with Zendikar, unleashing the Eldrazi, and he sent Tezzeret to watch the Phyrexians on Mirrodin. (Now New Phyrexia.)
EDIT: EDIT: I've now worked myself into a frenzy of hoping he's in it. I'd be so happy.

You've honestly already answered the question when you typed "lands."
Its about time they do multicolour in a core set. I hope its not a one time thing like with legends in 10th edition.

Dear kbx41,
You have received a warning at MTG Salvation Forums.

Flaming or Other Forms of Misbehavior
Saying that you sometimes wish people (in this case the implication is the staff) would fall down a well and get AIDS is hardly appropriate for the forum.
Doesn't imply that at all. M12 had a new Garruk, new Jace, new Chandra and a reprinted Sorin Markov and Gideon Jura. They've already shown a willingness to mix and match.
Good point - but even so, it looks like Nicol Bolas is the only multicolored planeswalker. If they're going to break the "rule" and add multicolored cards to the core set, why stop with 1 planeswalker? I had hoped this would open the door for multiple multicolored planeswalkers in M13.
I doubt they'll have a ton of multicolor in a core set, but I doubt they'll be above a couple gold mythics. Seriously, it's so simple even the newest players shouldn't be able to mess it up even without reminder text.
They'd still do the normal 5 monocolored walkers. Core sets are still for new players and they want to show the color pie. Besides, we've only gotten multiple gold walkers in a set 1 time, ever. That was Shards of Alara and even in the gold block, 50% of the set's walkers were monocolored.
Oblivion Ring is the closest thing that Standard will ever see to a Vindicate reprint. That card is too good(because it's a spell and not a guy) by today's standards.

I disagree. Beast Within and M.Pulse are two daughters of Vindicate. The concept is also straightforward for a core-set while its power-level has remained the same since it debuted in Apoc.
As for 'today's standards', vindicate is a 1-for-1 that keep the game in check. Compare that to titans and walkers...these would have never seen the light of day in previous expansions let alone a core set. A straightforward 'nuke something' card isn't out of the question IMO. And if Vindicate is for some reason 'off the table' to reprint, I'd gladly settle for M. Pulse. Eventually WotC needs to reintroduce solid, fair cards back into the game. Even with creatures + PWers dominating the state of Magic, a solid (not broken) spell is never a bad thing.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
That would be pretty amusing, but very unlikely.
I would expect to see Maelstrom Pulse again before we see Vindicate.
