2/2 for 1G, or 3/3 for RG, or 3/3 haste for 1RG? All of those are decent, and the versatility makes it worthwhile. It should see play.
The rest don't have quite the same versatility (they've only got 2 modes each whereas the green one has an extra mode because you can pay 3 for a 3/3 haste). They also don't have the power level the green one has.
Seriously, a 4/4 for 2GW, and you still have to pay each time you want it to trample? :o:thumbsdown:
As others have said before, a lot of players (heck, I'd say most players) would like to see as much return on their Magic investment as possible. When a low-value set (so far) such as M13 comes out, it's bound to disappoint players who know ahead of time that they'll be drafting/cracking packs of that set.
Well, as an addicted drafter, maybe once in 4 or more drafts will i even go so far as to break even. but that doesnt matter to me. Drafting is such a cool format that requires a different type of skill. Also, it is argueably one of the only formats that let's you play with the vast number of commons in the set that dont see play otherwise. Sometimes its about the fun. I love this format. And I love a good core when I see one. I for one love showing my akroma's memorial to new players and watching it blow their mind. And Im looking forward to that reaction more now. it's FUN. Go wizards.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
The green one being constructed playable is more of a nice side-benefit, but not the point of the cycle. A 4/4 for 4 is always good in limited and that's all it needs to be.
You always ignore limited application, as if that invalidates R&D's intent to make something good for limited but not a constructed playable card. Blanketing everything thats not chimney imp as limited playable sounds awful. There's a world of difference between grizzly bears and grey ogre, even more so when that grizzly bears is in red. Ignoring limited is the equivalent of ignoring a constructed format. Mental Misstep? How silly!
You also keep calling these gold cards, where the keen difference is you get something when only having one of the colors out. You also get to wait a turn to get full benefits from these creatures on the offensive end.
Huh, cool. I traded my Memorial off before it spiked in price. Maybe I can finally get another copy now, though I'm not sure which EDH deck it would fit into.

Akroma Memorial as a mythic? When I first saw it, I was like "damn that card is too good." Looks like it got its deserved rarity. At least it dies to Naturalize, but still.
That boar might go in my aggro deck. I've been needing more green cards. But is it good enough to replace Stormblood Berserker? Perhaps the bird can go in my Pride of the Clouds deck. Hooray for Ally colors!

I agree that boar is best.
its first two modes are good,
and its third mode is good when you draw it on the 3rd+ turn
Deathraiders was facing against similarly good slots in jund, and had to face off against fairies, kithkin, and the emerging super friends decks.
The regen is key on this guy, but i think its only enough to con side when you you don't have the play you need.

Talk about being random as hell. Akroma's Memorial? The EDH player in me is excited that I may get this for cheap. Still feeling quite uneasy about this set however given the low value of it.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
Already in mine, usually the 2nd card Sisay fetches! Cradle is first! Riku near the top too! Funny, the only one of my EDH decks I don't run memorial in is Bruna.
Super excited for Akroma's Memorial reprint. Sisay EDH will be able to have one now.

War Falcon and the various color-lovers are all boring and largely irrelevant. Akroma's Memorial, not so much. Several people, myself included, asked last night what would be more representative of a mythic artifact than Door to Nothingness. Well, we got our answer. Fantastic choice for a reprint. Now if only there was some way to do the same with some of the other casual-centric cards with absurd prices (Doubling Season, please pick up the white courtesy phone).
Not as long as Gut Shot is around at the very least.
Yeah I can't wait for Gut Shot to rotate it is really limiting the power of 1 mana creatures like Delver :). Complaining that a one mana creature dies to Gut Shot is about the most odd thing ever.
Ask and you shall receive... it doesn't matter that this is just another baseless statement (as all opinions are) or that it's little more than a troll response. The set is, as all core sets before, a base set that it full of reprints and mediocre cards. If you're cracking packs for value you should look into a new line of work. Especially if you haven't figured out by now that's a crap shoot on if you'll make back your money or open worthless cardboard...
This is simply not true. And I'm not really talking about 'cracking packs', I'm more referring to drafting. Drafting is usually a good practice because sometimes you just open cards that pay for the draft. Sometimes you don't, but you open cards that win you the draft. Sometimes both happen. In M13, you will have to win drafts to stay afloat drafting, because the cards that you will open will not have real value.
And M10-M12 completely give the lie to your statement that Core Sets 'never' have value.
I was thinking the exact same thing, but it would be waay too good a card for the weakest color combination in magic. After all, wizards doesn't want to make overly efficient creatures in colors not including green...except NOT because delver of secrets is a piece of efficient blue poop
Akromas's Memorial! Now you're talking mythic rare business! Other than uncastables 10 CC spells, this is going to wreck face in limited. Hoping to get one in my PR pool
Other Uncommon sedge troll-likes are good, I like the idea. Very nice core set in my books!
Damn.. why do Elephants almost always get the shaft?! a 4/4 for 4 with pump-trample. feh. It WOULD have been more exciting and playable to have it as a 4/4 for 3 mana.
Since Ravnica, there have been what.. *TWO* constructed playable elephants? Noble Hierarch & Terastodon? I suppose that the original banding-trample-tribe isn't going to get much love post-banding.

Right, because aggressive decks(which is the only ones you would put this guy in) A)want to be trading their guys and B)like playing guys with defender.
Human deck is already almost mono knight\soldier. And falcon is better 1-drop than doomed traveller if you curve out.
War falcon seems really really good for controllish decks as a 2/1 flying wall for 1 with upside. It trades at neutral-positive tempo until you can wrath them... and Elspeth and Gideon both make soldiers for it to attack alongside once you hit mid-late game.
Maybe it's also fine in soldiers and knights decks as a 2-of or something, but that seems questionable in constructed. Card is way better at blocking than anything else.
