why doesnt WotC handle it if they picked it up as a recognized format and changed the name from EDH to Commander?
If they did the rest of us would just splinter off and keep playing the format we started with and trusting the same Rules Committee we trusted all this time.
We too, had a discussion about hose rules in our league (which is largeenough that most of the shops in town recognize our "house" rules), and we decided to keep things as open and creative as possible by not adding to the ban list in any considerable way. I think there is a card on it, but perhaps only banning it's use as a general, though it is not something that effects me really, so I have not looked in a while.
I'm sorry but banning kiki-jiki?? Also rhystic study and glacial chasm seem extremely silly to ban.
Intelligent/experienced players will only treat rhystic study as a mana tax on spells, and glacial chasm wouldn't be a problem if your meta had a healthy dose of LD, which every meta should. Even without LD glacial chasm doesn't prevent loss of life.
But you are correct in that playgroups should definitely not be afraid to take additional bannings into their own hands; i'm just glad im not playing your playgroup, no offense.
My group as well has our own banned/unbanned list. Only one player right now was gonna play Grislebrand, so we're allowing him, just cause he isn't that broken to us. I as well want kiki-jiki banned, just because he can create a ton of 'infinite' combos, but the player who was using that has now gone on to a different deck (for now anyways). I would want shared fate/Infernal darkness banned just because it locks the game up, since most of my group tends not to play blue/black respectively (though more play black than blue). Along that line, most cards that destroy all lands is banned/really frowned upon (though if there are other effects, we just use those and ignore the land destruction). Its all in how your group wants to play. Having your own banned/unbanned list can make your games more fun, because it can take some of that competitiveness out.
I've read that worldfire should be pre-ban or ban in september. If they do that, i hope that omniscience will suffer the same fate.
They'll probably allow Worldfire for a while, then ban it if people are in fact running it in degenerate combo decks like they did with Gris.
Now, Omniscience will be absurdly broken in EDH. Most decks will have a big chance of winning the second it goes online, which can be done easily with Show and Tell et cetera. The only thing stopping me from comparing it to Gris is its harder recurring and the impossibility of running it as a general.

I dislike how, in the format of huge splashy rares, everyone's wanting all this stuff banned just for being huge and splashy.
People want it banned because it's unfun and because it wins the game by itself.
Being big and splashy has nothing to do with it. Take a look at Kozilek, which is probably one of the biggest and splashiest creatures ever and no one wants it banned for it.

I actually think this is more or less where the ban list is slowly heading. They are increasingly leaving alone or even unbanning the stupid combo deck enablers, and instead chasing broken "timmy" cards. Basically goodstuff that timmies always throw in their deck because it's big and good, and in a room full of timmies ends up dominating every single game. Combo decks are better handled through multiplayer culture, while bans target single problem cards in otherwise "fun" timmy decks.

Actually, they made a similar argument with Emrakul and oh look it's banned now.
It's just that stupid people will complain that primeval/blightsteel/ulamog/kozilek are overpowered because they win on their own. And yet they omit to mention that their deck is red/green ramp with no form of removal in the deck. I don't see how paying 6 mana for a good unanswered creature is different from paying 6 mana for a bad unanswered creature.
People just like to play decks with no answers and then complain when a beater gets in their face. Having a whiny community gets silly cards banned over the degenerate ones that actually do need a ban (see survival of the fittest / hermit druid / sol ring).
Omniscience is a ten mana enchantment. I don't know how that doesn't check itself.
Once that gets onto the battlefield, it should change the game or be answered. There are enchantments that cost half this much mana that can be just as big of a problem.

I can think of 1 enchantment that costs 1/10 of Omniscience and it has a fanclub worshiping it.

You think Griselbrand was a Timmy card rather than a stupid combo deck card?
Humility breaks EDH a lot and I don't see people complaining. Omniscience is good but it requires you to have other good cards in hand, which out of your 99 might not always be the case, and if you have it early it's a dead card. Of course you can cheat it into play, but the same can be said about many other cards in EDH.

Emrakul was banned because people(mono U mostly) were playing briery turn 3-5 and win the game with back up counters

That can't possibly be the reason. Got any links to support that? It seems like if people were worried about Bribery, they could just take out Emrakul instead of having to ban him.

Ramp, elvish piper, mana rock orgasims, and much more made emmy broken.
In edh 9 mana can win you the game. Example; Toothache and nail.
Rooftop storm, in the right build, is just as bad as this and isn't an issue.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the banning, but to say it was because of Bribery doesn't make any sense to me. I wouldn't believe it unless it was the official reason given.
Im kinda offput but GB getting a complete banstick shoved in his face. As a general yes he was problematic i concur he did ridicoulos things and allowed decks to exist that shouldn't...But him as a creature playing it as a 1 of in your deck seems pretty fair the main context i can think of where its bad is kalia.
If kokoshu happens to be unbanned in any form that would be nice or braids allowed as a general again would make me happy.

It's part of the reason. Emrakul was banned because games were degenerating into who can Emrakul first. Decks were built around searching him out and powering him out, vs bribery-ing him out of your opponent's deck. Way too many EDH games ended revolving around just him.

Exactly. Bribery became a huge part of the game BECAUSE of Emrakul, as opposed to a random value card that required at least a little thought to cast (because everyone had Emrakul). Infinite turn combos, etc. Card broke the game. Omniscience is not going to get banned before Palinchron, guys.
Sundering gone makes my Jaya Happy! No GriselSandwich! Thats kind of bummer. They should have tried banning him as a general first and then progressed. Let's remember this is only for 3 months, then it can be re-evaluated by what the players would like. This seems reasonable, kind of like land tax getting a reprieve(spoiler: i think its gonna get shelved again in december 2 seasons and it will be out of control and banned again. i feel it's that good).

You mean they weren't looking at 3 card combos instead of 1 card combos?

My Allies EDH deck has a grand total of 5 lands with basic land types.
You don't need Griselbrand for Kaalia anyway. It has other cards that can used.
So you must hate Blood Moon huh?
