Naya's mechanic bombed, Esper adds *nothing* to the table and would actually power up cards from Mirrodin, which is exactly the opposite than what they want to do (i.e. sell more ISD), and cascade is complex and broken more often than not
esper didn't have a mechanic right? Naya had power 5, Jund had devour, Grixis had Unearth, Bant had Exalted. Cascade being in almost all 5 colors in some shape or form.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

Esper's 'thing' was colored artifacts. Every esper-related permanent was an artifact.

You know what I would like? A mana stone with exalted. And some good black creatures, black is riding on the back of Griselbrand and Unburial Rites, plus some zombies right now, it's weakened beyond belief and needs to be able to face this new "turning creatures sideways" metagame as it could have done in Torment.

Yes sir, I take fantasy art and character design commissions, PM me for rates.
Oh, don't worry about that. They'll probably give black a decent 2 drop right now so it can enjoy one T2 season with a beating of a list (as soon as SOM rotates, its back to being rubbish). My personal guess is Withered Wretch, but maybe that's a bit off the charts.
Each time they brought back a mechanic in a core set they didn't reprint anything but made all new cards with the mechanic which likely means we won't be seeing Noble Heirarch anytime soon
It's clearly a 3. Think of how you play with this card though...
Imagine if there are some good exalted 3 drops. You cast, say, a 2/2 with exalted and lifelink, then follow it up with this. You have an 8 point lifeswing right there, and then a 3/1 holding back to trade with your opponent's exalted creature.
Calling it now, Cathedral of War, the M13 prerelease card, is a land with exalted. Somebody sig me, now!
Exalted was fun the first time around, though with hexproof creatures in the mix, I don't know how it will all play out. Oh well, screw it, RtR's coming and with it a new golden age of Magic. Woo!

Im a big fan of a noble hierarch reprint, just a shame that Geist of St. Traft makes it a bit gross. Seriously, so many silly cards have been printed recently (last two years).

Probably because you naturally associate it with Bant colors. "Exalted" is definitely a more alignment-neutral word than, say, "holy" or "blessed". After all, an "Exalted Demon" (worshipped by an evil cult or something) kind of makes more sense as a card than "Holy Demon" (some demon chillin' with the angels), doesn't it?
Mechanically, it's similar to loners, except it isn't completely, as it still expects you to play creatures. My bet is on black exalted being more noncreature-based to fit in with the loner strategy they're supporting - despite the fact we've seen a black exalted creature already.
Honestly, "Exalted" is synonymous to "Holy" or "Blessed" to me because I believe that I've seen all three used in the Bible to describe God. I associate the word "Exalted" with something other than "self-importance," which is a defining characteristic of Black as it is in the current color pie. A Demon that got loner bonuses makes sense given your rationale, but not Exalted--Why would the demon care about the Worshippers in combat if he is so much more powerful than them? They are clearly not going to get the job done like he can. Either way, I feel that worship in Black is like merely saying "Black = Evil" because we equate demon worship with heresy, and we assume "Heresy = Evil." However, the first card we're seeing is a Black Cleric and I feel like an average black card wanting to help out the team is a stretch, which is why I provided the rationale about boosting another creature so the black character doesn't have to chance going down in combat.

It will cost 10 and give all your non-land permanents exalted! Actually that sounds terrible.
