Yay Exhaled, what a cool and awesome mechanic! [/sarcasm]
This feels really weird coming off such an agro friendly block.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

I liked Exalted as a mechanic I planned only seeing in Shards block. Can it really be extended beyond what we already saw? The answer obviously seems to be "yes."
I don't know whether to feel happy or sad about this. Can't say I played with Exalted a lot during Shards-block, but that was mostly because it never attracted me.
Wonder if they'll reprint anything out of Shards? Battlegrace Angel? Noble Heirarch?
(Heck, Bolas is in, so gold is in... Rafiq?)
This is great....seems above the complexity of most core set mechanics though. So much for dumbing down the game (also pick up Geist of st traft now before the go even higher)

Very cool. Exalted is a nice mechanic that I hoped would come back soon. Kind of weird we only have it on a black card so far, though. I hope they keep it largely in white.
I, too, would love to see Noble Hierarch back in Standard again.
This is pretty cool. Exalted lends itself to a different form of play style, for sure. It will be interesting to see which colours get the lion's share of it.

This is the problem I have with the mechanic. Outside of white, it never really made a lot of sense, at least not with the name it had. The green and blue portions of Bant felt very white-ish anyway; the shard was all about white and the traits from its allied colors that made it into the shard were designed to overlap with white's stuff. But normally, green doesn't care for teamwork - community, sure, but a community themed around nature, not around the sort of divine blessings "Exalted" brings to mind. And blue...blue isn't much for fighting, except in recent blocks, where apparently it is all about big brawly guys.
Black doesn't really care about teamwork or helping power up one guy, unless you want to flavor it as some sort of demon worship-type thing. And that does not sound like something I'd describe as "exalted."
I can't see red getting any of the mechanic because it really doesn't want to hold back its guys - when red wants to attack, it wants to attack.
So yeah, the flavor seems pretty off here, but I guess they can make it work.
Are vamps getting all of the retro mechanics? Come on now, vamps have, if I remember correctly, never been in green or white and barely in blue. Actually that one BW vamp from Commander was part-white. But still.
At the same time though, this could help black a bit with the "loner" theme it got in AVR.
This is great....seems above the complexity of most core set mechanics though. So much for dumbing down the game (also pick up Geist of st traft now before the go even higher)
How is exalted more complicated than bloodthirst? Exalted is just "Derp swing".
I'm happy to see Exalted reprinted, as its incredibly simple to understand and utilize.
Exalted is mostly put on dudes. I'm hoping we can get Exalted in enchantments/artifacts as well. If not then the whole Loner mechanic is pretty much dead in the water as you want to stack as many Exalted dudes together. Not like there is a loner card atm that is anywhere near competitive but still.... almost as dumb as flip cards as a mechanic [minus Huntmaster of the Fells which flipping is awesome].

I'd love hierarch. I wouldn't mind picking one up if the market price dropped due to reprinting in M13. Whether or not that happens is another thing.
Rafiq in a core set may be too much on one card: multicolor (big deal for core set), double-strike, exalted, legendary. Not ruling it out, but I'd put it as 'not a safe bet'

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
Hrm, Exalted initially wasn't considered to be all that awesome, but Bant did well with it, but how is it justified in other colors, since Exalted was supposed to be an honorable combat type of ability, champions vs. champions, etc. OTOH more exalted in blue and having it new to black and red might make some of the Loner effects useful that were introduced in AVR, perhaps throw a few more loner-friendly effects into M13 along with it since it seemed rather undersupported in AVR.

Well, not every color gets to use every core set mechanic though. Bloodthirst was Red, Black, Green. Scry was Blue, Black, Artifact. So I could easily see them only printing Exalted in White, Green, Blue this time around.

There's already a picture of a Black Exalted card, and frankly, I don't understand it. Is the flavor something like supporting other people fighting so you don't have to get your own hands dirty or something? I suppose that'd make sense, but the name "Exalted" certainly doesn't fit on a black card.
why bant? why exalted?
why not naya, why not esper, why not cascade?
this sucks...
and will make me hate that f..ggin geist even more u.u
Naya's mechanic bombed, Esper adds *nothing* to the table and would actually power up cards from Mirrodin, which is exactly the opposite than what they want to do (i.e. sell more ISD), and cascade is complex and broken more often than not

Well cascade was a pretty big design failure. One insanely good card and a stack of unplayables.
Then those unplayables broke Hypergenesis in modern and got it banned.
Not their finest moment and I don't think they jump to print more of them.
