I hate that we just got Bruna, Light of Alabaster and now Krond who are both Aura based and both pretty boring. Why can't we get a Bant colored enchantment general!?
Krond, Uril, and Bruna are ALL competing for 'Aura-themed General'. A Bant guy would just make it worse. At least you can play Kronda and Uril in the same deck. Rafiq of the Many is the current Bant-colored General, and while his text doesn't specifically cite the Aura subtype or Enchantments, he is another member of the Voltron Class of EDH General. I'm just saying, I think we already have enough W/x Legends of this kind. How would you make a GWU one really look unique by comparison?
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
I like Krond. He will go in my Sigarda, Host of Herons deck. It's already an enchantress deck after all.
And I like this Vela chick. Especially like that she is a human. She's perfect for the Esper Humans deck I am building with Dakkon Blackblade. I planned on playing a few cards to sacrifice humans anyway (like skirsdag flayer) because human sacrifice is funny.

You know, I bet this UB legend is the rumored ninja leader. Think about it:
She gives all of your creatures evasion, which is necessary to reliably use ninjutstu.
Using ninjutsu to bounce a dude wrecks your oppnents' life totals.
Super synergy with ninjas, so I wouldn't hold out for an actual legendary ninja.
Don't be so sure-- I'm thinking each deck gets one MYTHIC 'captain' (since they are 60 cards, not 100, I'll use 'captain' instead of 'general'), but as we saw in Commander last year, they usually put more than one Legendary creature in these 'for Commander' products. More even than just the 'showcase foil' cards.
So I believe there is a good chance there is a non-foil, non-Mythic 'plain rare' Ninja Legend in the Blue/Black deck. It actually makes sense for it not to be Mythic- think how Ninjas play, and look at Higure, the Still Wind. That is just about as powerful as I ever want to see a Ninja. They are cool, no doubts there. But I'm not sure Ninjas really belong at Mythic Rarity. That just seems guaranteed to be OP.
In fact, I think a Higure, the Still Wind reprint is a very possible thing to see in this deck.

Vela is yet another bland dimir legend, who isn't very blue except for the possibility of bouncing or occasionally blinking your own dudes. Still, should have been orzhov or monoblack.

Ya I can agree with that. She'd work just as well in :symw::symb:, and that color combo really needs a more interesting/ usable general IMO, if so, she'd manage to make one of the most under utilized enemy colors slightly engaging and interesting.
In :symu::symb: she works out well enough, but with so much competition for that color in the general slot, she's just so darn boring. On the plus side though, she makes an excellent general for a ninja themed deck (duh), but is such a massive bore.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"
2/2
I really like vela. Shes the b/u general ive been waiting for. She'll go well in my edh box next to savra, lyzolda, and teysa. Her abilities are so-so unless theyre built around, and oh man am i going to have fun buildi g around her.
I'm loving the art on Krond, Vela's is pretty nice too. As for the cards themselves, Krond seems a bit underwhelming though still seeming pretty cool. Vela seems like she'd be great in just about any UB EDH deck. What I find most interesting though is that these two are linked by names and by Vela's flavor text. I'll be looking forward to what exactly links these two and what plane they're from.
I love Krond, hate Vela. Not really sure why. I guess I just like G/W more. Then again, that mana cost looks cool (even if it's really hard to achieve).
Krond's design is ok, but hes not that flashy enough to be fun still. He also is kinda weak. Blazing Archon was a cool offensive card with defensive ability. Why can't we see something like that on this?
Further, I could be mistaken, but I *think* Riku of Two Reflections and Kaalia of the Vast, of the 10 new 3-colored Legends from last Summer's Commander product, may have been the most popular. One is the Timmiest Card Ever and the other is the Johnniest Card Ever, so this makes sense. They are both sort of the Vorthosest Card Ever. Of course each other Commander Legend has its own merits and its own fanbase accordingly, but these two REALLY hit the sweet spots for lots, LOTS of players. Kaalia got SO juiced by AVR- this might mean they think she has enough juice, or it might mean Wizards thinks we like it when Kaalia gets juice. Either statement is true lol. And Riku is juiced by....juice. He's stupid. In a great way. I don't think it's possible to design a set of Magic that doesn't juice Riku in a Big Way. He's just designed to be Essence of Juice. This is a long way of suggesting that for the 3-colored decks, they decided to support the most popular Commanders? maybe?
So that might be a good sign that Primordial Hunger is WBR, not BRG. Maybe. I kind of think it's odd that White is 'Savage' but it seems to work for Kond, so don't discount the chance that 'Primordial' could be White as well, for wonky color balance reasons.
These sets take more than a year to make. The Commander product probably didn't influence Planechase 2 that much.
Also, I'd say that Ghave is more popular than Riku, especially after Dark Ascension. Zedruu and Mimeoplasm are probably the least popular of the "main" legendaries of the decks.
Sorry if its been said Already... But how about krond in casual reanimator and stuff ? sounds fun Reanimate with animate dead... have fun ? (im aware there are far more oppressive targets.. But at least he doesnt just flat out end the game IE Iona In 1v1)
Wow, both look pretty amazing!
The Archon seems easy to turn into a monster,
and Vela is kinda like Diregraf Captain for your whole team,
*and* she activates on any LtB, not just death!
She seems like an awseome general for Zombies, despite not being one herself.
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary Melek, Izzet Paragon Oona, Queen of the Fae Bruna, Light of Alabaster Gisela, Blade of Goldnight Rhys the Redeemed Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord Sen Triplets The Mimeoplasm WUBRGSliver OverlordGRBUW WUBRGSliver Hivelord(Superfriends)GRBUW
Maelstrom Wanderer: Double cascade is silly, and that's even funnier with the ever increasing general cost, but other then that, he's a meh umbrask with more viability, colorwise. I proordered this deck, so I'm hoping he gets some support.
Krond: Meh. Clunky mana cost, and situational ability. However, I'm kinda hoping for an enchantment, or a plane, that says "All creatures are considered enchanted and equipped." That would make him pretty imposing. Also, his name is Kronk and he's riding a llama.
Vela: Sexy art, and an ability that leaves a lot to be discovered. Zombu's and Moonbounce like her, but she doesn't quite fit in my dimir re-education deck. But since I love planechase, I'll be getting it anyways.
Cant wait for the rest. Less than three planechase.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.

And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.

Keep in mind that we also have info on another thread about a legendary UB ninja that lets you cast instants and sorceries out of your opponent's hand. I don't know how many legendaries they are going to be putting in these things but the UB deck is starting to look a little stacked.
Vela is yet another bland dimir legend, who isn't very blue except for the possibility of bouncing or occasionally blinking your own dudes. Still, should have been orzhov or monoblack.
I see the reasons for UB as opposed to WB being two fold.
First is flavor, these two seem to be a play on the old idea that the Sun and Moon are two rulers (warriors, gods, take your pick) that can never exsit in the same place at the same time. As such they need to be opposits. If Vela was WB then she would overlap with Krond and you would loose a lot of that Sun and Moon feeling.
The other reason is as people have said she is an old fashioned "build around me" legend. Try and make a bounce deck with WB and then make one with UB. Your card choices are much greater with UB. I could see maybe including her in a WUB build but then she would not be your commander.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Krond is powerful and all, but his horrible cost and need to have Aura kinds kills his appeal.... But then again, 6/6 flying vigilance for 6 is ok, and even fair, as in no power creep, and I absolutely LOVE those kind of cards.
Vela is a nice Intimidate Lord, and an EXCELLENT companion for AVR's blink cards. Although being a multicolor Intimidate makes her kinda weak, but then again, considering you can turn your artifact creatures into intimidators....
I'm in the butthurt crowd that the Ninja deck did not actually get a cover card of its namesake. I mean Chaos Reigns, holy crap its a chaos elemental, Savage Auras, holy crap it's an archon who likes auras! Primordial Hunger, HOLY CRAP ITS SOMETHING THAT EATS SOMETHING. Then Night of the Ninja, featuring something is completely unrelated jn terms of art and tangentially related in ability.

I do agree with you on this one. Don't get me wrong, Vela is a cool card, but the fact she isn't a ninja on a deck boasting "night of the ninja" seems a little disappointing. How hard would it be for wizards to do this:
Vela the Night-Clad 4UB
Legendary Creature - Human Ninja Wizard Creatures you control have intimidate.
Whenever Vela the Night-Clad or another creature leaves the battlefield, each opponent loses 1 life.

I agree, she needed the Ninja creature type. She doesn't even need Ninjutsu, she just needed to be a Ninja. She interacts with them on such an awesome level, only to disappoint me and many others all because of one missing word...
I do think she is very cool though. She also has the potential to be very abuseable.
She's making me more slanted on the Ninja deck, the green/white deck I'm just saying no. Green/white if it has some awesome aura I'll consider buying the single, but there has to be really something that pulls me into buying that deck. Thus far I'm underwhelmed.
