Sorin art is nice. Though I agree that his grip on his sword is a bit awkward.
Middle one... I'm trying to figure out what horror trope "snake woman" is...
Last one is a vampire wizard? Seriously, let's not have a discussion on whether or not this look is "anime." We had that same discussion with Jhoira and Jace and it got nowhere. Its infuriating.

And I just bought the Liliana on the throne playmat, well looks like theres one more new mat in my future. The first two pieces dont really seem up to the art quality of INN, but the third is fantastic.
Sorin's sword is most definitely resting on his shoulder.
The deck box...she's gotta be a snake lord! Makes snakes and powers them up!...Probably not.
The playmat...before Innistrad I never thought there would be a Gothic Lolita vampire in Magic! I do have a bad feeling they'll pull a Maritime Guard with her. Don't promote art for underpowered vanilla commons! It just makes the sting even worse.
The woman with the snake looks beautiful (both physically and as a piece of art) -- the Sorin piece leaves a lot to be desired and the other one looks ridiculous.
I don't mind art touched up on the computer (face it, almost every card is) but such fully digitalized art makes me die.
Oh man, I guess Sorin is a DFC. Think about it, this art, sun's in the background (or is that a really large bright moon?). The other art? The full moon's in the background. Both arts look fit for the planeswalker format, and why would there be two arts so fitting? Book art is a possibility for one of the two though.
So I guess Sorin will be W to some degree, probably similar to Garruk's breakdown. B->WB. I just hope he isn't overly expensive.
I thought Liliana as a DFC made a lot of sense, since presumably the veil is going to warp her sooner or later. Maybe this'll be the block of double-face walkers. Get all that use out of DFC's before they shelve the mechanic for X years.
Ahh, I just realized why you were bringing up the backgrounds now-- I made the assumption that Sorin was W/B based on the background. Looking closer at the art though, I think the image as a whole invokes a "white" feeling. After all, he is standing in a bright background, as if being presented as some kind of hero. The white spark at his finger also helps convey W/B-ness too.
I won't be placing any bets anytime soon, but of the colour choices available, I think W/B seems like the most likely choice. I know Wizards said they wouldn't let "variety" get in the way of planeswalker colours, but I still don't think they're make both Lilianas, Sorin 1.0, and Sorin 2.0 all mono-B.
Can we at least agree that it's more likely than not Sorin will be at least partly black, and of the possible colour combinations, white is more likely than say, blue or green? I won't deny red as a possibility, but that seems to be reserved for the bloodthirsty/lustful vampires and Sorin's too classy for that.
Re: colors I was just pointing out planeswalkers that, as you'd originally said, "have had colours in their art that didn't correspond to their actual colours". But yeah, I completely whiffed on Koth. I was only looking at the backgrounds, not at the planeswalkers themselves. For lots of 'walkers, their backgrounds actually are the same color as they are (Jace, Chandra, and Garruk, for instance).
Re: partially-White Sorin, I just don't see it happening. I'm one of the people loathe to think that Wizards would put so many Black planeswalkers (or planeswalkers of any one color, for that matter) in one block, but they've gone on record saying that flavor means more to them than balance when it comes to planeswalkers. Sorin will most definitely be Black, but as to whether he'll be another color (such as White or Red), I have more trouble believing. A change of color would require a change in character. Sorin has been around the multiverse for thousands of years, presumably living the Black "do-as-I-please" lifestyle. Why would he suddenly change? To become part-White, it's less that he'd need to become part-hero, but more that he'd have to desire to seek justice for something, I think. All the things that make White characters White just don't seem to fit with him, at least until we know more about the story of DKA. I'm willing to concede that Black/Blue and Black/Green are right out as possibilities, though. I'd actually label Black/Red more likely than Black/White, but only so that he'd seem more like the other Vamps. I still call mono-Black as most likely, though.
Well. We know that Sorin will be returning, however, I hope his card art is that other picture of him spoiled for DA.
The vampire on the deck box looks like she's petting a snake... would everyone else agree? It looks like a pretty long snake, too. I think it's on the wall behind her!
And that third vampire girl looks like a creepy 14 year old.
I am really digging the vampires and rose window, the round church window, arts. Falkenrath Noble got one and it looks like two more here...that might be a bit of my architecural nerd side but I love Rose Windows...
As for the Sorin, he kind looks like the one from the Planeswalker poster, could be the same artist...
Man, so many vampires! A werewolf or something would have given a little more variety... oh well. I like vampires, so I shan't complain about it.
I can only assume the Sorin art from the original Dark Ascension announcement is alternate art for a prerelease card. I don't think Ultra-Pro stuff uses promo art and it's highly unlikely that Sorin is going to be another double-faced planeswalker.
What's up with Sorin's eyes? Makes him look kind of inbred. The way he's holding the sword is odd, too, but being a vampire lord of sorts, he should be able to maneuver a sword as though it was a toy. It looks like Komarck's work, and if it is, it's definitely one of his weaker efforts.
The other two pieces are good. Snake woman is some of Argyle's better work, for sure.
Lolita, anime, skinny waist vampies (a la Twilight).
Please don't make more of this art. It absolutely stinks.

You mean resting it on his shoulder like a BAMF is incorrect for him? Seems like it fits right in with the story.

It's not the yellow iris, but rather the fact that they seem closer together than they should be.

Well to be fair, the snake lady might NOT be a vamp. Who knows... but yeah, the anime looking playmat girl certainly is likely to be one.
