when they first came out I may have thought so... so far, though, they've been extremely miss and very littel hit on what they think a good deck will be.
Go Go Go Mono green infect in standard.
That's also partially because they have maybe 20 playtesters. When cards hit the real world, they're gone over by millions of sets of eyes. One single card/deck can end up changing the metagame. What if no one had found the Ravager/Disciple interaction and affinity were merely an ok deck? (seriously, Ravager is even more of a garbage card than some things in Dredge. It's been good in one deck, ever) What if Valakut went unplayed like it did in testing? What if no one found Gigadrowse and Dragonstorm rolled to control? What if no one had noticed Reflecting Pool/Vivid lands? (it went unnoticed for months) What if no one had noticed Hexmage/Depths? Most likely, 99% of players missed most of those until they showed up at a major tournament.
If Vengevine midrange decks were a major force like they were in the FFL, mono green infect would have preyed on it hard. Midrange has a ton of trouble with blazing fast combo, which is how that deck plays. Valakut preys on midrange and it's way slower than a potential turn 2-3 kill.
I was actually building something like this after I opened a Splinterfright, Kessig Cagebreakers, and the UG land. I know that they will borrow cards from the previous set and such, but I just don't see them borrowing such an iconic card from the previous set, when there is so much they could do with this set. If they were going to do a pod deck I think they would have done it with the core set, or with New Phyrexia.
I may be wrong though who knows. There has only been what, 6 decks so far, so it is hard to know if a precedent exist. They did also make the human equipment deck for New Phyrexia's deck, and that was more zendikar if I recall correct? Then again the other event decks inside of Scars block were all very much scars block decks. Idk, I am rambling now. I would put money on it being a BUG graveyard deck, like the article one I listed.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
How would revealing more of the dekclists spoil the fun? Pretty much everyone here wants them...
Well if people insist then I could spoil it here Monday, unless someone else has done so in the meanwhile. Need to get the hands on the lists again, such that I don't make mistakes.

Bleh, it looks like they went from semi-decent decks to 'super intro' decks. Getting kind of cheap on the amount of rares. :/ The first one would be pretty awesome if they upped the number of Inquisitors and Champions. The second just looks outright terrible.
Well, seems they are following the trend of From the Vault: Legends with disappointing product release. Must say I was a huge fan of the M12 vampire event deck and the blue one was meh, but honestly giving 2 even decks with neither being all that desirable is pretty fail. Wonder if stores will even order these or just let them rot in Wizards warehouses.
Although it's more important to see how they play, and that has yet to be seen.
I played three games in cockatrice with Deathfed, it's uh, really good, creature removal is basically dead against it. It's fast, faster than it looks, makes large monsters very quickly (big enough to be well out of burn/dismember range), the classic fast aggro plan of dumping fast efficient creatures backed up by removal helps you win, it's actually funny. Graveyard hate is a must to tackle this deck, it'll be a rough ride if you don't have it sb'ed. The rares may not be the best, but for this deck they work well (although many of the commons in the deck are by far the nastier cards). it's a keeper.
I already have three Champions of the Parish, two Nevermores, and a Stony Silence, so I might get the white event deck and wrap it up with those cards as a gift for a friend.
I've also already made a terrible UG graveyard build that's far better than Deathfed, so no dice on the second one.
Ugh, deathfed is horrible. Good concept, but horrible execution

I really doubt it will be Pod. More than anything I think it will be something similar to the deck in this article, just with some black added in.

I don't know, however I've seen the list for the two event decks and the BUG one looks awful and the other one quite like a bomb.
And no there wasn't a pod in the BUG one, there was Green Sun Zenith instead.
I don't want to spoil more of the fun for the people in here, by saying more than that.

Another Event Deck w/ Green Sun?! That seems odd :-/. ...unless you are looking at the NPH and where the deck w/o Green Sun is/was quite the bomb ;).

yeah, confusing, there are good rares from m12, scars block & inn, but bombs?
why green sun's zenith again?
If the lists have been seen, please tell me the white one isn't white weenie (again).
Perhaps not quite a bomb, but as in more powered than the other deck and a better option to pick up if you want to play one of the decks.
Well thats not surprising, one is typically easier to play than the other. You could say that about any of the event deck pairs that have come out.

fix'd for readabilities sake. And now i'm also not interested in these decks, i was honestly hoping for pod to at least be 1-2 in deathfed.
