Nothing north of Baltimore in the US? That's weak. Maybe we'll get an NYC or Boston date this year.
They have already stated that they did not want to have to deal with the winter weather in the Northeast, and that there would be events in the area later in the year.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Saftey, deserve neither Liberty nor Saftey.

Yay for Indianapolis being legacy so I can actually drive there since it's kind of close, only a 9 hour drive or so. Much better than Providence at least since that's just way out there and hard to get to from the midwest.
Almost surprised Madrid isn't a legacy GP again with the giant turnout that happened last time.
Sealed should be as big if not a bigger turnout. I'll be there for that one, fully expecting 2000+
I might have to fly to Melbourne... Why u no Sydney, Wizards?
They went to Sydney last year. They're not just going to go to the same city every time they go somewhere. Also, only 1/3 of the year has been revealed.
Is this a higher than usual number of sealed GPs? Seems like they are pushing sealed more, but I don't know whether this was as common a format before.
And this shows that Extend is real dead.
Extended GP changed to Modern. No more high-level Extended tournaments, and (always) no store-level Extended tournaments since players aren't interested.
When they announced the big boon in GP numbers last year, I became hopeful that we would at least have three GPs in South America every year, in contrast to the single one we currently get. This initial schedule isn't making me hold my breath, though, which is a pity. I really think there is a very large semi-untapped market potential for WotC around here.
They doubled the number of GPs. South America will probably get 2, double the usual. Also, most of the GPs in the Southwest of America are probably feasible options for a competitive-minded brazilian.
I live in Barbados, which is REALLY the middle of no where for a MTG player, we are only now gearing up for FNMs.
I would probably make an effort to hit a NY, Florida or Sao Paulo GP though. San Juan could work as well. Hopefully later in the year, work schedule won't let me try for Orlando, and I don't play Standard anyway.

Standard in SLC? ..oh alright. I was really hoping it was going to be Modern or Legacy.

I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."
It's the same for me. It would likely cost me the same to go to any of the "western US" GPs. SLC is easy for me, but Denver would be a little expensive by plane or car, but doable and if they do one in Vegas I would be able to swing that too. But the others are a little pricey for me to fly to.

Damn shame it's going to be Standard instead of a format like Legacy or Modern or even Extended.
Some people just love Jace a little too much

Which other high level competitive format was not included in the GPs for those three months?
Extended is dead as a high level competitive format. oh, it will still be sanctioned and you can still play it at FNM. But its gone.
Wotc recognized that most (not all, but most) of its players didn't want "Hey look its standard... again" to be a format.
