Reprisal and Radiant's Judgement are both almost cards that haven't been printed in a real set in 10 years. Not saying that the white removal couldn't have cost 1 less though.
What I find funny is that someone actually made the comparison between dark ritual and Infernal Plunge. DR is VERY VERY good.
A thing I think people often forget is that WotC need to keep 4 formats healthy and also diverse from each other and previous forms of themes Limited, block Standard and modern.
Oh and snake is cool, love me a good snake. The blue spell only costing 1 mana makes it actually playable, at least in limited.
Red ritual is decent but sac a creature? Unless you're running 0cmc cards I don't see that ever really being that great.
Pop a couple Memnites, or whatever for a Kuldotha Rebirth + a kicked Goblin Bushwhacker.. too bad it wouldn't be standard but. pretty decent for R - Either way, a red Ritual, even with a drawback is nice.
Intangible Virtue is pretty neat-- this set has ridiculous cards.. Modern is getting ridiculous, MAGIC is getting ridiculous. Diggin' the green always though over anything. GW4LIFE
Lame. Black will now officially never get fast mana back now that they have colorshifted Sacrifice more or less which is kind of stupid since black should be able to do anything at a cost.
The Viper is insane removal. Granted it can't kill creatures with evasion or first strike...They keep on giving green creature kill.
Yeah, that card is pretty damn great in eternal formats. Maybe not so much in my play group at school though (mostly new players and will be using a lot of the INN cards in their decks...)
Smite the Monstrous: costlier than what we've seen before but maybe this is okay with the slowing of the format. Sensory Deprivation: okay but more often than not not-competitive and not-main deck. Victim of Night: how awkward. There's much to kill but without knowledge of the decks and creatures to be played, I think this card is up in the air with regards to its usefulness. It feels disappointing being a card that requires two black mana. Infernal Plunge: while "inferno" is a word I'd associate with red, "infernal" isn't; "plunge" too. This would be good in combo decks but that implies some building and building around. Ambush Viper: good, actually.
Through and through, yesterday wasn't too good a day.
I've been waiting for many a year for a new Dark Rit. Infernal Plunge is making me very happy right now. Too bad about that sorcery speed, but it is great nonetheless.
Smite the Monstrous and Victim of Night are some nice removal cards for INN. Not overly powerful, but they make absolute sense.
Sensory deprivation is more horrible than -3/-0. :-\
On the other hand, it is removable removal of the Swat variety for 1 mana. I will be trying things with it.
Smite the Monstrous: Didn't this cost 2W before? :-\

My English is quite broken, but isn't infernal the abjective form of the name inferno?
The words "inferno" and "infernal" have kind of diverged in English. "Infernal" still means hellish or demonic, whereas "inferno" has shifted from meaning "hell" to meaning "an enormous fire" or perhaps more generally "a place that's too hot to bear".

Inferno's original meaning is "a place or state that resembles or suggests hell", only relatively recently in terms language evolution has it come to mean conflagration. The reason behind the conflagration meaning is that hell has been often described as a pit of fire where sinner goes to burn. This word is derived from Italian which was derived from late latin "infernus".
On the other hand, Infernal means something that is "hellish or fiendish". And this word is derived from Middle English which was derived from late lain "infernalis" which means basically mean below the world or the underworld.
It's true that at least in America the word inferno is less and less related to hell, but I am thinking in Europe where it is closer to its Italian roots, it still holds the hell meaning. Also, among the highly educated it definitely still means hell. People that have studied Dante's Inferno, the first act of the Divine Comedy, can attest to this. Inferno literally refers to hell, in fact the entire act is about describing the 9 circles of hell.
Anyway, I think the original concern was that Infernal is not related to red. But when one pictures hell, it's usually a place filled with fire and glows red. After all most of the paintings have associated Satan, imps, and other creatures of hell as being red. So Infernal Plunge could mean sending a creature plunging down to hell, and that is as red as it gets.
The second is guaranteed as a T1 deck that is really good, plus its' mana is better. I would choose #2. However, Eminem is correct, comes down to preference. Eminem was not correct, however, for tying Rihanna to the bed and setting the house on fire.

I'm gonna say it right now, this will see play in constructed formats (limited it's, well limited). I for one will certainly be sideboarding it to bring in for Go for the Throat against t. steel or puresteel and Dismember against highly aggressive decks and Doom Blade against black decks and Oblivion Ring against decks that require more instant speed removal, hell I might even bring it in for Beast Within against opponents without important noncreature permants (barring any of those decks being based on 3 certain tribes, but if they are, I don't think I'm too scared anyway). I mean it even seems plausable to side it in for Day of Judgment against RDW type aggro decks where they're too fast for the 4 cmc. Just seems like a great spell to support our other removal...

not really
"infernal" means "hellish" or stuff related to hell and is typically a black thing (Infernal Tutor)
Inferno can mean hell but also can just be fire

Standard: K-Red says hello.
Modern: Storm says hello.
Legacy: Cathodion is in love.
EDH: Well, it will add a nice advantage to some decks without black commanders for ritual…
