Dont know if this was already spoiled but here it is finally a day and night mechanic
Since we have a lot of people posting without reading any of this thread first, I'm reminding everyone to please look through at LEAST the first few pages before posting anything. We don't need more posts of the same comments/impressions again and again, especially without having read some of the additional info and arguments that have already been given.
Does nobody read the Speculation subforum? We've been discussing this for a few hours now.
That picture is of an oversized card. The human side is the front. The wolf side is the back. It's very large, and its an advertisement for the prerelease.

I like the idea of a day/night mechanic,if I had to guess I'd say its probably night on your turns and day on your opponents, since a 1/1 on your turn would kind of suck. (then again,I'm purely guessing here)
Then again, it also looks like it could cause some serious rule/game-state headaches.
But I trust the design team. Can't wait for more info/confirmation!

It looks like the Mayor of Avabruck has two power/toughness stats. And judging by his creature type, by day he is a 1/1 human, but at night he becomes a 3/3 werewolf.
this looks awesome if its real.

I'm really curious how they're going to actually implement this on an actual card. From the card frames we know it's not a flip card, and with that amount of text it's highly unlikely to be a split card. I have no idea how they're going to squeeze all that information into a 3.5"x2.5" frame. Maybe that's why I'm not working for Wizards.
Les autres créatures Loup-garou et Loup que vous contrôlez gagnent +1/+1.
Au début de votre entretien, mettez sur le champ de bataille un jeton de créature 2/2 verte Loup.
Third ability.

At the beginning of your upkeep, put a 2/2 green Wolf creature token onto the battlefield.
Third ability.
Edited, my bad: Looks like we have found MaRo's 2 casting cost creature that makes 2/2's.
As for the werewolf mechanic, I'm jumping on the token card band wagon. In Odyssey block, there were gravestones on the top to indicate that there was something with flasback in the graveyard. With these things, it might be to easily indicate that there is something under another card that has day/night effects.
im confused now after looking at these pictures... how is this the token generator that makes 2/2's for 2. yeah it makes 2/2's
but there is no card cost.
or am i blind?

except it's a 3/3 and it costs no mana when he said it would cost two mana each turn.
i bet the mayor is the alpha...
judging by the number and they fact that is possible turns into a 3/3
the wolf is a 3/3.
split cards again?
Mayor of Avabruck//Howlpack Alpha ?
I'd guess they're going to put the b versions in as bonus cards like tokens. It would really suck if you got Mayor Of Avabrook as your rare but couldn't get hold of his werewolf state - they must have addressed this somehow.
There is no mana cost, the collector number has a "b" in it, and it also has a planeshifted like frame with a white title font.
Tokens are a definite possibility, but there are two main problems I can think of. First, the entire 'Howlpack Alpha' card will have to be defined on the 'Mayor of Avabruck' side. Given that Howlpack Alpha's rules text takes up the entire text box, the rules text of the Mayor is going to be microscopic. Second, I'm pretty sure werewolves are going to appear at common and uncommon. What if we get multiple such cards in a booster pack? Is Wizards going to start squeezing 20 cards into a booster?

well, in the quote it is mentioned that it makes a 2/2 critter each upkeep. Perhaps he needs to be in night mode to do it? Perhaps night mode is some sort of upkeep cost? I just felt that two things clicked into place and perhaps the third will explain itself in time.
Really cool! Thanks for the info! My guess is that each booster will either contain 0 or 1 "day" card, and if there's a "day" card, the land or token/rule card will be replaced with the "night" version, and vice-versa.
I wonder if anyone has noticed the circle at the start of the type line of Howlpack Alpha. I can't help but think that that's going to be relevant somehow.

Well there is no cost on the night side that I saw, it would have to be on the day side and switch back every turn.
They aren't different cards, as in the main card and a token. Look at the boarder of the mayor. It has an arrow point. The back where our beloved magic the gathering and 5 magic orbs are replaced with the rawr wolf. If any of these types of cards are worth the cardboard they use. People will sleeve rage.
Edit: another reason not 2(card+token) cards. You can't really use dice to represent walls of rule text
